I would not worry to much about that, from my point of view, they simply had no time to make the interface or it was not working properly. The healthbar is to great an asset to be absent for the final product. Where they put it is up to blizzard but with the possibility of attacking several opponents at once the new version is optima.
I felt in love with the skill tree on DII and am disapointed in the designers decision to, yet on an other level, make the game look like WoW. I was expecting the gameplay in the least to remain similar but I guess I will have to wait and see.
Blizzard North was all that was trustable, these folks are as close to EA as ever.
I have to agree, they see the gaming industry in a more marketed way then they did before. I was expecting DIII to be done by Blizzard North but I guess not.
If Blizzard put out a bad game, people would still buy it. However I think that would hurt their future sales of subsequent games.
If they were to fail with this game, who would take up the torch? There is really no other game like this. The closest thing would in my opinion be the countless MMO's out there. This is why I am so strong in the opposition of adding wow-elements to the game.
I agree for the most part but other games like NWN and DS, would still persist, though without someone to show them the ropes they would fall short of what players can expect of a good crawler.
Being a really class specific person, I have only ever played the Necro and Pally in DII and gotten them several times to 99. The unfortunate truth is that blizzards needs to innovate in their concept and someone had to go. No matter what class they picked to replace it would still result in controversy and unhappy fans. This is frustrating for many and especially the more traditional of fans like myself but all we can do now is make blizzard understand that the expantion should contain those classes that where missed out in DIII.
Blizzard has already stated they are NOT replacing the Necromancer with the Witchdoctor.
Watch the videos & you'll see they seem to indicate we'll see the Necro again- probably in the Expansion.
I have seen the movies and the interviews, but you do not seem to get the point, though Blizzard does not replace the necromancer he will not be part of DIII because the WD has similar skills. Unless he appears in the expansion, as you mentioned, there is no point in having 2 classes who can summon and curse.
I don't see why people still argue about the necro, it is simple, due to the fact that the WD has similar skill and only 5 characters will be introduced it is safe to say that there wont be a necro in DIII. The reson why you see necromancers mentioned in the game is that they are a big part of the lore, though you will not be able to play the necromancer this does not mean you will not see one as an NPC.
On a matter of personal opinion, I am very dissapointed in the introduction of the WD to replace the Necro.
Clean floors, lit candles, sorted bookshelves is the new way to see dungeons, and the deamons are hygienic now as well. they drink tea at noon and talk about rituals and stuff.
Gameplay whise and for the morst part blizzard did an amazing job, unfortunatley, they also decided to make everything more cartoon like and adapt it towards a WoW clientelle. They have to understand that despite the gigantic succes of the WC series the Diablo one has its own. Re moddleling and redoing everything is out of the question but retouching the game to make it follow the Diablo franchise is a must.

Best of luck.

"Blizzard could poop in a box and it would still sell by millions"
In a way it is true, but if DIII would fail, it would not kill the crawler genre but it would cripple it.
