posted a message on Why Jay Wilson Lets His Daughter Play Diablo 3.

This person annoys me, i couldn't watch the whole thing.

I live in Australia and it sucks they have to tone the blood down for us, I'll be pre-ordering a Collectors Edition if Blizzard release one which I'm sure they will because its Blizzard and what fan wouldn't want one? On that thought I would probably pre-order 2 copies, one to sleep with. ;)
But it saddens me deeply that they wont be as blood soaked as the rest of the world...

Even with less blood it will still be a kick-ass game that i will play for years like i have with D2, sorry China...

i disagree with that. at GC, i found a way to play it. if you put the V between your right leg and put your right foot approximately 6inches off the ground, the pressure of your left leg and left arm keeps it steady.

that probably made no sense. lol

yeah it makes sense to me, but its just so much effort. like if you want to bring it somewhere you have to do this and that just to be half comfortable to play, unlike the normal guitar where its comfortable in almost any position.

he can test it out himself though, if it plays well, sounds great and you dont mind the it sits on you then go for it.

best advice is just go to a big guitar store and try out everything, nice and LOUD! :D

dont make the mistkae of getting something because it LOOKS badass, like i did when i bought a http://www.pecorporations.com/images/B.C.%20Rich%20Body%20Art/B.C.%20Rich%20Mockingbird%20Firebreather/1.%20Templates/body_art_guitars_r3_c1.jpg a few years ago.

/facepalm worst guitar in the world, i wont go into details but it was just plain dumb.

flying v's are cool and all, but you can only play them standing up...
my friend has a Jackson V which looks badass and plays the same way, but its a stage guitar not that good for learning with.

IMO i would go strat all the way, you see plenty of metal, blues, alternative any genre really using strats.

    I have an Ibanez sz720fm
    http://www.guitar.com.au/guitars/electric/ibanez/eg_page_200780f5.html?PAGE_ID=396&COLOR=CL02&AREA_ID=2
they have a new mode which is god damn sexy! i'm sure it would be orgasmic to play :P
    http://www.ibanez.com/ElectricGuitars/model-SZR720

which is awesome, but i'd trade it any day for an american strat.

les pauls are great as well, but heavy. i'd still choose a strat over a les paul, mainly because i love blues.

i only recomend a Wacom pad, costs vary on what you want
i have a small 4x6inch which does the job but its annoying how small it is.
    this one here http://www.wacom.com/bambootablet/bamboo.php
bamboo is the lowest quality pretty much.

if you have the money and want something a lot better go the Intuos4 seires which i've heard are fantastic: http://www.wacom.com/intuos/index.php

so prices vary from $79-$2000 :) if that helps

Hehehe no offense bud, but smart people know the difference between general digital painting and matte painting, whereas matte painting in a lot of ways doesn't even resemble actual 'painting' at all! :P
Using photos and Photoshop effects to achieve a realistic result (though some parts are sometimes hand painted). Since matte paintings are used as backdrops for movies and such, to depict scenes that don't exist in real life. ;)
You learn something new everyday huh?

lol you're completely right, i have no idea why i even said that i'm even learning about matte paintings in film/video at uni and even have an assignment where i have to do all that so my bad :P
was doing assignments for roughly 14 hours yesterday so i guess i had that "yeah i'm totally smart so i'll say smart stuff" which was totally wrong haha.

i wouldn't say your a novice at all! i've been drawing my whole life but when it comes to paint and colours it looks like kinder garden finger painting >.>
smart people call digital painting Matte Painting (using a graphics pad :P)

a cool program to check out is Painter by Corel. It simulates real life painting with (what looks like) real brush strokes. You can select from any brush, pencil, sponge or sumi-e chinese brush style thingy...
but you kinda need a graphics pad to use it properly...

but keep it up! and try and push your self more and more even if you screw it up or it doesn't come out the way you wanted it too you learn so much more :D

i'm in an arty mood my self so i'm trying to be inspiring :P i've been drawing for 8 hours for uni.... was hell but fun.

well the 4th picture is complete, only problem is i forgot what photoshop filter and settings i used to create the textures in the other 3 and its too late in the night to bother with it any more.

it didn't really turn out the way i wanted it too, but the drawing side is done and over with.
i wanted the grown bird to be flying overhead in the city, but its not really overhead at all, it just looks like its hovering there.

    oh well practice makes perfect.

i'll upload the final image tomorrow and maybe, MAYBE an interactive flash file which tells the story and displays the pictures (which is the assessment for uni).

time for me to get some toast, watch 15 minutes of tv and go to bed.

The game better start with "A"
I noticed on the Blizzard store site where you choose to shop by the 3 "universes", the 3 games/universes start with W, S and D.
So make it start with a and we have the typical gaming controls W A S D.

lol thats my main thought, and it better be epic and kick-ass.

It would be kinda cool fighting both sides, but it's just not Diablo... a diffferent name to the game then sure!

I just ordered the Diablo Archive (all 4 books) from the battle.net site along with a Diablo 3 shirt, excited to read them! Though I'm reading all 3 (technically 6) LOTR books which I haven't read before so i'll probably have to finish that first.
maybe after reading the series i'll change my mind, who knows? for now i'll stick with what i've said.

I did plan on turning this into a vector art piece then i could do some animation. If i were to eventually do this there wouldn't be much animation, just slight movements in things to make it alive, two great examples of what I'm talking about are:

    http://alexiuss.deviantart.com/art/Chronoscape-darkness-animated-117853539
    http://alexiuss.deviantart.com/art/Solaris-animated-118506547

Clearly he is an extremely talented artist but I'd do something similar and move individual parts.

This feedback has inspired me to do some more drawing so i'll get it some ASAP :D

Also that video is really cool thanks for showing me that, hope to do something like that one day.
