Such a shame, that's got to be the best story in the Diablo series. :P

My memory doesn't serve me very well right now, what exactly did Baal do when our hero went for Mephisto and Diablo had just returned to hell, did he simply leave the temple?

Didn't she go like "Wow, so you're a barbarian, huh?" I know that doesn't prove anything, but i highly doubt she has some barbarian blood in her veins. She's just very hefty like Jlane said.

Okay this didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Seems like a strange brew of the Diablo 1 and 2 story to me.

And why can't angels be male? Angels in christian mythology are always described as androgynous.

posted a message on Diablo theory...
    Quote from "Soladrin" »
Erm, big question about your theory.... why the hell would Diablo fight in a lesser form, while he's in hell? that doesnt make to much sense now does it? why would he be holding back at his own turf?
Lioncashs theory is based on us having to fight Diablo in Hell, while he is at his peak of power.

Now besides that, I don't really buy it. At act 3 Diablo changes form into his lizard-like form (assuming that is his true form) not to mention our hero was able to defeat Mephisto in his true form, him being the elder one I'd imagine he is quite powerful.

Nice find, I'm not so worried about the bag system, it worked just fine in WoW.

sum of what u said made sense, i stopped reading after u started complaining about clicking 20 times to buy 20 ident scrolls.... 20 clicks cud get u 400 scrolls !!
I might have forgotten to add this is not a comparison to Diablo 2 in any way, i'm aware of shift clicking and tomes (Hey, now that's a mighty fine idea). Like in Hellgate you have to press 20 times to buy 20 Analyzers (Identify scrolls) which really was plain awful.

XanderV: Rather have a few cookie-cutter builds than to have a completely useless character no? But it depends on the experience system too, if it takes a half year to max out a character it won't feel great to find out that character is useless because of an error made in the "talents" a few months ago.

And there's nothing wrong with adding some luck features, not at all. It's when you start to depend on a skill that only works 20% of the time it gets messy.

Games like Diablo and Hellgate doesn't work with pay per month, are not MMORPG’s and thus simply doesn’t work with P2P. I sincerely hope Blizzard won’t go in this direction with Diablo 3.

Repetitive envoriment themes. Sure that eerie gloomy feeling of fighting your way through the ruined suburbs of London is a great feeling, but that doesn’t change that a sewer in London is a sewer in London, and simply doesn’t you offer any new experiences after the first time. That’s one of the great things about Diablo 2, you had both the eerie catacombs of Act 1, the green jungle of Kurast and the frozen lands of Harrogath and Mount Arreat.

The release. Alright, even though you will never get a gamer to admit this; We do actually prefer to wait a few more months to get a more polished, bug free and overall better game, instead of an early release which at best can be called a beta.

Zoned worlds suck. Another flaw in Hellgate is that everytime you leave a town you get your own instanced zone and thus never meets any other players, unless you go to a town and ask for a group. Everybody knows that towns are for AFK’ing or showing off your new items.

We don’t ask for the world, but every moment spent where you don’t feel like smashing your head into the screen is a job well done. Take my word for this, no one wants to press 20 times to buy 20 identify scrolls. Avoid these useless time sinks.

Save game and exit. All gamers have to face it, sometimes your computer crashes, sometimes your internet goes down. It's not fun to be out on a long quest, almost done and suddenly your screen freeze, you do a reboot and get back in to see you're back in town like you never started the quest you almost had completed.

Talents and stat allocation. Initially Diablo 2 didn’t have such a great system, but it evolved. When you just started on a new game, you’re gonna have no way to know which skills and spells are viable in endgame, therefor it’s no good for skill points to be permanent. There is nothing more annoying than to find out your newly maxed out character isn’t worth anything due to poor build, and spells are bound to get improved or nerfed so a build that works in patch 1, might not be viable in patch 2. The late patches of Diablo 2 offered a fine system to this, skill points put in lower level spells that you don’t use anymore help empower stronger spells of that category/element.

Luck based PVE. I never liked these small chances of something great to happend, like 5% chance on hit that you’d cast a nova, when your toon start to be dependant on small proc chance to strive you know it wont last.

Custom user interface. Allow the player base to help improve the game to their liking, the freedom to do this in WoW is a major plus, thus likely not so needed in D3.

The bane of all servers; The release. Yeah we all know that the first days after a release are always unplayable (and we all know Battle.net). Perhaps renting temporary servers to help take off the pressure, and avoiding queues and server instability.

If we are talking very strictly about storyline, Diablo (+Hellfire) vs Diablo II and LoD. Then it's Diablo 2 by far, the tale of Tal Rasha is just so great. ;-)
