posted a message on Back to Hellfire with Diablo II
Being a huge Diablo 1 fan, I had played that mod some time ago, and all I can say is : "It does the job." It really brings Diablo 1 atmosphere back in somekind of Diablo 2 UI / interface graphics. However the history is not the same as original Diablo 1 however close, and some other things change too, as music, more spells , items and some new monsters.

So its not the Original Diablo 1 remake, but yes its awesone mod that makes you remeber ( or discover ) why Diablo franchise has such a great name putting you on that feel.

I could very well consider this mod somekind of Diablo 1 Expansion.

I´m sad I cant play my Rogue on D2, so I just carry her as mercenary around all time, it happens.
Who knows you can maybe get aid of a "bonemancer" or "cursemancer" mercenary in D3... He could even call out some golems, but if the mercenary calls 25 summons damn I wont pay his ressurect cos he gotta be too dumb to die !

posted a message on 5th class contest
Opt 1- Ranger ( Melle / Ranged fighter ) maybe able to summon things or traps
Opt 2- Rogue Same as above -- AND come on, its from Diablo 1 , not from wow... = / ( Sad face for you guys )

Opt 3- Bard Ok, so the Hellfire was not canon at all and bla bla, but , only but, the monk came from it, and there was a female bard able to dual wield, that class was secret and never even oficially announced by Sierra back them... So if blizzard uses it its ok at beeing "new".
So yes a Bard can fight Melle, dual wield, and use ranged weapons maybe even set traps... It Could also be a HINT from Blizzard at "Jace Hall Show" despite however the use of microphones and guitar hero guitars.

That guy as crazy as he seems is somebody important to gamers... Thats why he enters all those places, as unbeliable ( fake ) as it seems the data that is show during his shows, is still something of how the place / people that works there goes.

posted a message on Who has not played Diablo 1?
If you never ever played Diablo 1 you are missing a HUGE game that made history, nice graphics, nice sound, music, atmosphere ( very different from D2 ). And also the "creator" of the action-RPGs that you play nowadays.

So to help you that never played.
Here goes the DEMO version of Diablo 1, its something so you can have a taste at least:

    http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/demos/diablosw.exe
    Only 50 MB

If you like it, and CAN buy, buy it, you wont regret !

If you never played you should meet The Butcher !

posted a message on Slight Magic Resistance to Magic You Use:
The above is from page 44 of Diablo 1 Manual, it was the only real source of magic lore I found of the Sanctuary World.

Magic is an extremely powerful force, the manipulation of which is carefully studied, frequently learned, but it is never fully mastered. Enchantments exude an aura that can be sensed by many, but years of training are required to properly exploit the Mana that pervades our world.
Some scholars use natural manifestations to explain the workings of the universe. In a common archetype, the physical world is likened to the sky while the ethereal realm of magic is set as the ocean. If we follow this line of thought, spells are much like the turbulence that occurs where the two interact with each other. During the Sin War, Demon and Angel alike wrought powerful magicks that threatened to tear the fabric of reality apart. The physical and magical realms began to blur and merge, which, in our archetype, would be the equivalent of a fierce hurricane.
The Forces of Order sought to preserve our reality by limiting the power of mortal man. As a consequence, only the strongest wills can harness more than the most basic of magical effects. Even then, much energy is lost in the transition of power between the two Realms. As a practitioner of the arcane arts grows more knowledgeable he is able to create these effects with greater efficiency, resulting in spells that are more potent, have more endurance and drain less Mana in their casting.

Following the text above we can understand that learning more of that same spell or element will never prevent you from hurting yourself with it, not even from start.
At diablo 1 for in-game exemple you could hurt yourself and/or friends with your spells ( firewall ex).

So to role-players of Diablo World ( Sanctuary ) or lore purposes a Sorcerer male or female, Necromancer, Wizard, or any other arent immune to theirs self magics.

My bet is that on Diablo 2 that was changed only to help gameplay issues !

Who knows about Diablo 3... ^_^

    *****
And for monsters casting that spells and their immunities to it, a lot of reasons could exist:

1- He carries an item that makes him resistent
2- His own blood is eletric/fire/poison
3- His skins/carapace is more effective against that element
4- He is blessed by superior demons to be protected against that element
    5- etc..

posted a message on Least favorite and most likely.
1- Least Favorite --> Pally , made the game unballanced ( you "need em" on your party), uber skills ( Hammer time ), and not the best background history (my own opinion)

2-Class to return --> Barbarian, where were you last 2 years ? lol

*Ohh and now I read "Diablo 3 Expansion"*
However i?ll ignore that... game isnt even out

posted a message on PTR Big Ideas
To the "New Content part", they could re-activate some monsters that are disabled on the MPQ files... its not much work, just need some numbers ( almost cloned ) to make them spawn and be balanced.

It would be easy for them, and fun for us seeing 2-5 new normal monsters around.
