Also, game balance can be easily adjusted server side without the need for a client update. Other issues that are "planned for future expansions" are probably a lot more complicated than adjusting the gold drop rates for pots and possibly even involve client and server architectural changes - something that needs to go through a rigorous testing process before it can be deployed. Code changes will always be a lot slower than balance changes.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

That's what hardcore is for. In a normal game it'd pretty much make the buff useless: if you couldn't do a boss on the first run you might as well skip the elites and go straight for the boss.

So there I was in hell act 2 in one of the ruin dungeons when I spotted the worst possible affix combination for my wizard on an elite, something like invulnerable minions, jailer, mortar - can't remember completely as I started to run.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
The mob reached me... and then commited suicide. It was a pack of demented fallen. lol.

Yeah I'd be interested in both your builds (standard and the one used vs diablo), what kinda gear you have and the follower setup as wellPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion

I've been doing some statistics back in the beta about gold drops and now that I've seen the full game I've formulated a theory on how gold balance works.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
It's pretty simple actually, quite a bit different from how diablo 1 and 2 did it, but makes a lot of sense given the auction house and real money aspects of the game.
I think gold drops aren't balanced monster by monster, but on a much higher level, possibly even act by act. What I've seen in the beta is that gold drop ratios are perfectly linear. This means no matter how fast you go or how many monsters you kill, you only get a fixed amount of gold in a given time.
If you've ever blasted 20+ monsters with a single shot and wondered why they only dropped 3 small piles of gold - this is why.
This is actually interesting from a class balance aspect as well - it makes all the classes equal when it comes to gold farming. The only two ways to increase your gold income (from gold drops) is by using +gold % items or going into a higher end area of the game.

I have to agree - the last two bosses on normal were a pain.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
Couldn't solo the last one at lvl31 no matter what I did - I was geared completely toward dps and barely made a dent, if I'd have geared more towards protection I'd still be running around trying to chip away 1 hp at a time.
A friend of mine joined in with a lvl24 monk and he could tank it without issue.
The best spell to keep me alive I found was mirror image btw
