    They had better sort something out soonish, because they will have, at some point, to give Wizards Vyrs and oh man the rage that will cause.

    Do you even play D3? You aren't even factoring in items like gems, gear, GR map layout, and about a thousand other variable. Maybe go try to play the game for once and you'll stop tossing around NONSENSICAL bs like "You gain or lose exactly x GR lvl with x% dmg increase"

    ... when you double your dps you reach ~5 more grifts. Your paragon, equip, gem levels or anything else doesn't matter. If you have this one big multiplier and you double it, you'll double your dps which results in ~5 more grifts.
    And map layout? WTF? How does this have ANYTHING to do with this discussion?

    Also, gem levels are not that important. Let's say you double your dps and reach 5 more grift levels. That means you can level up your gems 5 more levels. FIVE LEVELS. Look at the god damn affixes of them. The benefit of those five levels is in the low single digit percentage. Their influence is like 1/10th of a grift level if at all.

    So when you do 1 dmg per hit and you do GR 1, and now you double your DPS and do 2 dmg per hit, you can reach GR 6? (1 completed +5 equals 6, rodent) LOL....thought so

    So when a Plvl 5000 with all ancient perfect rolls and 100% meta gems does GR 105, now they can reach GR111 after completing 110 with only 100% dmg increase, even though nbody even did the first one yet?

    And what if it's a perfect rift on the upper end, or an empty rift on the lower end. So many flaws in your trolling excuse for an argument

    Correct, if 1 damage per hit was sufficient to beat GR1, then 2 damage per hit would be sufficient to beat ~GR6.
    The scale would look something like this:
    GR1 = 1 DPH (damage per hit)
    GR2 = 1.1 DPH
    GR3 = 1.2 DPH
    GR4 = 1.4 DPH
    GR5 = 1.8 DPH
    GR6 = 2.6 DPH

    You'll note that we used the symbol "~" to denote approximate when talking about how many GRs you gain by doubling your damage. Remember that GRs grow on an kind of exponential/logarithmic scale, where the health of mobs double every 5 rift levels, approximately. So by the very definition of GR design, double your damage increases your achievable GR range by ~5 GR levels.

    If you can give something to back up your claims otherwise, then please show them to us.

    They need to worry about botters before they go after people using razor synapse..

    I would very much hope this is the case. In my book:

    Botters > THUD users > Hardware Autocast Assist Macros

    Should be the order in which they ban people. However, I'd prefer greatly that they just change it so that you don't have to spam these abilities.

    I don't know how helpful this is to answer your question. I posted something like this, with an idea, on the official forums, and while I didn't get a Blue response, I did get an MVP reply.

    @rivenaleem because we had a discussion on paragon... obv.

    Why have a discussion on paragon in a thread on set bonuses? Are they related?

    And WE did not have a discussion on Paragon. A brand new user, created today, with only one single post tried to go off-topic by injecting paragon into the discussion. Should I report the post for trolling? Can you report for off-topic?

    Note that reducing damage by half is a 5 GR nerf. That is all.

    For a paragon 4000, 2000, 500, or 150? Oh right, you're just making yet another nonsensical statement about damage and GRs, like that other guy with the rodent avatar

    Can you please explain how Paragon has any influence on this?
    It doesn't matter if you are Plvl 1 or 10000. This is a separate multiplier and a big one. Cutting it in half will result in about half dps, which results in a ~5GR loss. But since you don't have this buff active all the time, it should be less than 5 GRifts. For example in the bossfight, you won't even reach the post-nerf cap in the first place.
    Well, that's for Invoker. I guess for FB it's more than "cutting in half" in aoe situations.

    you do hopefully realize that main stat is the core of ALL your damage, right? 9k strength = 9k% more damage. the more main stat you have, the more damage output you get. its simple. if someone is paragon 1000, and got ~10k main stat with no augments, they lay around 1,6m dps. now look at the guy with 3k paragon. he got 3,4m core dps, thanks to the massive main stat bonus he got from what? you guessed it - paragon. please inform me again on how the hell paragon have absolutely no influence on the leaderboards? either youre one heck of a casual player (most likely) or youre simply ignorant.
    +1 to indignation.

    Who said anything about leaderboards? The multiplier IS independent of paragon. A paragon 500 person might reach 50, a paragon 4000 might reach 70, a paragon 500 with uncapped firebird buffs will reach 55, a paragon 4000 with uncapped firebird might reach 75.

    Each factor, Firebird bonus and Paragon Level, contribute independently to what GR level you might reach. So why bring in paragon level to a discussion on set bonus?

    The point Shapookya is making is that across the board, regardless of paragon level, a nerf of 1/2 your damage equates to ~5GR levels

    posted a message on The meaning of TurboHUD and why it is much more than just a hack

    What is the story here, I keep having forum posts eaten from this topic!

    Not typing it all out again, so...

    If you are not comparing THUD to a drug (despite comparing it to a drug in order to call me naive) then what would you compare it to, since it sounds a lot like an entry level drug.

    If Blizzard took it upon themselves to break similar mods in WoW (AVR Encounters) then what makes you think it's perfectly acceptable to use a similar feature in Diablo 3, the fact that they haven't banned anyone yet?

    I'd never try to ban free speech, as that is everyone's right. However posting on Diablofans is a privilege, and for that you have to follow the forum rules. We don't talk about bots by name on this forum, and we definitely don't try to make our case for using them on this forum. THUD is a mild form of cheating and we should not have a thread on this forum where people are seriously trying to justify its use.

    Quote from Flentygo-next

    To be fair I understand where the threadstarter is coming from. In World of Warcraft the most hardcore players have the option to install addons to improve their gameplay - people that just play for fun DO NOT neccesarily have to have these addons.

    My point being; if there would be addons like this for Diablo, only a selection of hardcore individuals would use them to kick their GR's up another notch. Those addons wouldn't be neccesary for casuals and therefore it won't make the game more difficult for them.

    If you compare WoW Addons and THUD, in terms of functionality, then you have to look back at Blizzard actions taken on certain mods. Some of you might remember the mod "AVR Encounters" which was available around the time of Ice Crown Citadel. It projected onto the ground the exact area of effect of boss abilities, so that players could avoid them with ease. Blizzard deliberately broke this mod in Patch 3.3.5 because they felt it crossed the line beyond what was acceptable or not.

    Even earlier (BWL era) they broke the mod CastOptions which at the time allowed you to auto spam a heal spell and the mod would pick the best target for you, and would auto cancel your cast if your heal was not going to have any effect.

    Blizzard either cannot, or do not want to police Diablo 3 for mods that are not outright botting. However both the map hack and modifications to display areas of danger (Danger Zone LANA!!) are examples of mods that Blizzard objected to in WoW.

    So, while there are elements of THUD that would be perfectly acceptable in a WoW mod, there are also parts for which we have a precedent where Blizzard has clearly stated where they do not want this function in the game. People can try as hard as they wish to justify using THUD, however it is impossible to deny that THUD contains, and is commonly used for, things that Blizzard has forcefully removed from their other products.

    you dont have to test anything - theres plenty of sources / guides / simulators already for the next patch. google it.

    No, you see, if you make a claim "here's the reason why those 2 sets are so much more OP than others, and why they should recieve another nerf:" and then tell me to go off and search for the reason myself on Google, then I can't really give your argument much merit.

    i never asked for merit. you should probably spend a bit more time on the PTR before you start commenting on these kinds of threads. read the patch notes (also the updates), check the leaderboards on the PTR, theorycraft with your clanmates, test out various builds and such. the PTR have been out for a long time, and im making this post now, because i actually participated in the PTR. just saying :)
    If you make a claim, you need reason and evidence, otherwise nobody (not just me) will take you seriously. You made a claim (firebird needs more nerfs), and gave a reason (still OP) but then gave no evidence. And that's great that you've spent all this time on the PTR (you say) and I don't know how you know exactly how much time (if any!) I've spent on the PTR, but you are extremely fond of making claims and not backing them up. Just Saying!
    This particular change has only been live for <24 hours, and as many other people say, it's not Firebird itself that's the problem, but the combination of it and Vyrs that is causing Wizard to be so powerful, so perhaps you need to check your sources?

    and how much more damage output they have, compared to other sets.
    Which other sets have been tested in the exact same group composition, where the firebird is swapped for something else? How exactly have they been performing? How much data has been generated since this patch went live, and where can I see it?

    By how much? What other builds? Can we see some data on this? Do those other builds have greater or worse survivability than Firebird (other sets commonly have 50% damage reduction built in)

    That post explains why a cap on stacks is needed, but we all knew this, since it was in the blue post. Why do you feel it is still OP and needs to be nerfed more?

    There seems to be something off with your formatting, as you say "here's the reason..." but then you don't include a reason for why they need to be nerfed more, you just quote the next poster below you.
