Tried the trial and could quickly see it's a "who's got the most time to waste online w1ns" game. Gold sellers seem everywhere and I kept getting smack talked by people who insisted on speaking 1337 all the time. I didn't find it particularly deep (maybe I just didn't hang round enough), but plenty appear to enjoy it... but then loads eat at McDonalds and I wouldn't call that high quality cuisine.
If you can stand the spam and the occasional overly aggressive players then yeah it might be diverting, but I play eve online instead heh.
Wow what server were you playing on...? I have not once run into someone who was "aggressive" or a "smack talker" in my 2000 hours of playing... Cenarius server here.

I played WoW for about 2-3 days got my paladin to level 7 then my friends started telling me about this job thing on there. I don't know what it is honestly because I didn't play it long enough but the sound of it turned me off. In a game I want my job to be killing things and taking what they carry. Diablo 2 really kicked ass at being able to do that. I have played Diablo since way back and continue to play still. I gave up on WoW partly because the job thing and partly because I had to pay more money to continue to play after the retail price. I own it. I should be able to play it and if I don't want to pay to play at least let me take on the world by myself which you can't do. So overall my feelings towards WoW are "if it suits your style, more power to ya'." I'll stick with D2 until D3 comes out. Or just play GTA:4 when I get bored of slaying demons.
Job thing...? You mean professions? Like mining and herbalism? You don't have to do them... it's completely optional... no offense but that's a really dumb reason to quit a game... you learn how to mine, and then if you see a mineral node in your travels, you mine it... I don't see how that's a turn-off enough to make someone quit??? And I don't see how it gets in the way of killing things...???
Guys I really doubt it will be out this year. You know how Blizzard is with games. The game doesn't look like it's THAT close to being done. They still have a crapload of testing and balancing and all that stuff in order to perfect the game before they will even consider releasing it.
It's absolutely amazing ever since BC especially! Before BC, the PvP system wasn't as good as it is now unless you play 70 hours a week, and there weren't alot of smaller instances or rewards from them if you were a raider, nor was there really a good way to make money (other than getting that "lucky drop"). I love what they've done with BC and am confident that they will continue to improve in the future with Wrath of the Lich King and beyond. Great game!
I hope that too, but if we look at that they still have 3 classes unannounced .... But that 30mins gameplay vid really got my hopes of the early release
Starcraft 2 had a 30 minute gameplay video and it's been a year and we still don't know a release date.
OK PEOPLE I really can't point out why diablo ii and LOD were such good crazy addicting games please post what was your favourite FEATURE in diablo 2 and LOD .. maybe youll be able to help me on this one..
The fact that it was still fun on the 10th time though.
