What I would like to see is new content(Acts) for each difficulty level. Its kind of lame IMO to rehash the same Acts 3 different times. I know its not going to happen but it would be nice.

Yes I would prefer vent over xfire. I have no problem sending a MO (money order) to you for 5 bucks or something to help cover costs should we breach the 25 man threshold. We can worry about that when the time comes though.

Haven't read the entire thread, but what of this "next-gen" MMO Blizzard is working on by all accounts, including the hiring ads. Could this be World of Diablo, WoW 2. Perhaps a new title altogether, though that is unimaginable to me with all the content they have to milk. I also wonder if "next gen" refers to concept, technology or both.

posted a message on What's your position on the Iraq War and Congress's withdrawal plan?
I knew Bush would pull some BS like this, and dreaded when he was "elected" in 2000. Alas, he has proven me right and got us in a mess of epic scale. I absolutely did not support the Iraq war for a few reasons. First, I saw his administration for what it was, a bunch of war hawks thumping their chests, esp after 9/11. Secondly, two thirds of Iraq was a no fly zone patrolled by international(mainly US) military aircraft. In short we already had him by the balls. Last, the push to war was too fast, and the "evidence" that WOMDs existed was shaky at best, even being refuted by Iraqis who had fled the country for asylum and were in a position to have such knowledge. The buildup to this war was based on lies and the manipulation of fear.
These people have been killing each other for many centuries, and to think we can go in there and impose Democracy is rubbish. If we leave tomorrow, there will be a struggle for power and much bloodshed. If we leave in 10 years, there will be a struggle for power and much bloodshed. Therefore, I think the US should get the hell out asap. Why do you think Saddam ruled with an iron fist? Its the only way that works there. For example, in the period of time from 1958 to the early mid seventies when Saddam took power, there were three coups that replaced the leadership. This trend would have(and will) continue had he not eliminated his competition. Am I defending Saddam? No. I am merely saying that the type of rule he showed seems to be the only way that works. Get us the hell out and do it now!
Oh wait, Obama said he will have us out within 16-18 months. And what about fucking OSAMA BIN LADEN? The fact of the matter is that there never were WOMDS in Iraq(our own government has said this so those of you who still want to say there were are just ignoring fact for your own convenience ....must have learned that trick from the Bush administration). Nor was Al Quaeda there. There is oil there, last year we imported around 5% of our oil from Iraq, making it the 8th largest supplier for that year.
The great thing about America though is its resilience. We have taken a pounding under this administration, it is true. Look at the economy, look at these wars. Look at George Bushs approval ratings. Do I see a BLACK MAN as our President elect! I think this shows where the hearts of the American people are really at. All nations have been duped and manipulated by their governments at one time or another. We will recover from this horrid administrations blunders, get ourselves off of oil and show the world that we are still the greatest nation on Earth! All of you people who like to talk trash about America need to remember that if not for us you would be a part of the Third Reich right now. SEIG HEIL!

posted a message on Diablofans - WWI Card Tyrael Pet Contest
A bartering style trade post where players:
    1) Post items they wish to trade
    2) Browse for items for trade
Pretty basic, there needs only be some sort of mechanism in game to allow players to accept/reject offers as well as make offers. An in game notification that an offer has been received, accepted or rejected will allow the player to adventure without having to check items too often.

PvP - Spruce it up a bit by creating a team PvP mode and perhaps some special PvP areas/content/items. READ this does not mean an arena. This means an area where there are PvP goals that reward PvP items, usable only in the PvP area. This would eliominate any need to balance PvE and PvP. Any player could enter/create games in this area this area upon meeting some sort of quest/level requirement.

PvP - Create a ranking system for PvP that is shown on BNet for these teams, and perhaps for the 100 top solo killers as well.

posted a message on Wilson comments on photoshopped pics
Ill be honest, I signed the petition, and Blizzard has responded. My choices now are to buy or not to buy D3.
I do not have the technical knowledge to argue against Mr. Wilson, though it somehow didnt sound very convincing.
At any rate, its hard to argue with the fact that the dungeon we saw in the trailer had a very "undercityish" feel to it. I hardly think anyone can deny this.
In fact, I wish the interviewer had simply stated "this looks like UC" and waited for a responce:rolleyes:

posted a message on Georgia & Russia at War
Quoted from the poster "girl" on the MSN network. I have no idea what the truth is, though I tend to believe her in terms of Russias motives for attack, and I do not trust the media so much hehe.
I suppose if Georgia retains its independence after this is all done then it is true, in part at least

"How can you be such fools and the blinds! You say you have free and unbiased mass media when they are totally controlled by your politicians! if not by those of the USA! they think of you as of people who they can manipulate! my congratulations! they achieved this.
When on the eve of the Olympics Georgian troops started bombing peaceful people including small children, women and the elder people your so-called free nwespapers and TV-/radio channels didn’t even noticed that! more than 1500 casualties among osetians and 15 russian peacemakers killed over that night. many of alived had and have to stay in basements without water and food and ability to connect with relatives! Tshinvali is comletely destroyed even hospitals with injured! And only when enourmous and “unscrupulous” Russia “invaded” “poor little” Georgia they miraculously woke and started to work accusing Russia of this “invasion”.
What is “funny” your mass media use photos of Georgian weapons and make comments as if they are Russian.
If you look back in 1990s when Russian peacemakers were on the territory of conflicts there were no conflicts at all. And since Georgia forced Russia to drive them away the situation has been becoming worse.
If we wanted war we would have done it long ago But we are intrested in peace in contradiction to Mr/ Saakhashvilly. HE has started genocide of Osetians. He is not any better than other tyrans and criminals against humanity.
And what is the world association doing? it’s just supporting him and his fascist regime silently (Europe) or openly (the USA) the Eastern Europe) ! And he feeling this goes on working the money he gets from the USA. and does that very well! How do you think he would hav dared to conduct this aggressive politics without any? it’s well known that Georgian government and Mr.Saakhashvily gets his salary from US funds including that of Soros. can this leader be free in his actions? No/\. He’s just a marionette and a lunatic/ he reminds me (and not only) Hitler.
Please! Don’t be so blind! Don’t let anyone manipulate with your mind and opinion!
At least try to see and compare and analyze both points of view not from just western mass media.
    Be watchful!
    wWell? its obvious"

Nah, from what I saw of Bush and Putin rubbing elbows during the opening ceremony of the Olympics last night, its not happening. Besides, after the crap we pulled in Iraq what are we gonna say to Russia that carries an ounce of weight? And all layered in the surreal backdrop that is China hosting these games, impressive as the ceremony was. Actually the ceremony was very awesome, but that doesnt change the facts. :(
Also, I dont pretend to know exactly what is going to happen in Georgia, but I hope there for the most peaceful end as can be possible.

posted a message on Blizzard needs to implement at least a BoE or BoP system (Bind on Equip or Pick-up).
Make it so items cannot be dropped on the ground at all, effectively killing muling.
This alone would reduce the # of tradeable items in the game world quite a bit, and would force players to either trade, use or vendor an item when space becomes an issue.
IMO this would go a long way to achieving a balance economy w/o stepping on anyones toes.
This along with BOE items would maybe be enough, gold is for repairs and gambling!!

posted a message on Guilds/Clans in Diablo III
There are so many things to consider that we just dont know that relate to guilds and the reason for them.
I am assuming the game world is going to be player created instances with a max # of players as in D1 and 2. Will there be areas for pvp or special zones with pvm objectives that a larger group could go to? I dont really see any indication this will exist. I dont see any content that merits anything beyond an enhanced social UI that allows for chatting between servers/games.
    We could be suprised though.

Well, more quests will only help if you get xp for them, which you didn't in the first two games. I agree with you on the power cow/baal run thing tho. I did plenty of it myself but if we have to grind xp please be more creative for it at the "end game" level.

posted a message on Φ Graphics Discussion (New art style proposal to Blizzard)
    Quote from "cycloverid" »
    ( First post btw, but I'm a hardcore Diablo fan :) )
You make a good point Ultra. A really good point. Diablo2 had amazing graphics, both dark and realistic. I would go so far as to say some of the best graphics ever made for any game. First of all, since most of you wanted 3D, there is just no way you could make as realistic looking of graphics in 3D and have the game run remotely well. Diablo2 was also technically developed by a different studio, who thought independently from the central Blizzard art philosophy. Notice how similar Diablo, StarCraft, and WarCraft all are beginning to look. It's the new "Blizzard" style. Think of Blizzard more like Pixar now, they are a closed-off community, no longer two independent studios ( North and South ). Blizzard is more commercial, they are more generic, trying to be less offensive, and going with something "safe" that is proven to work for a broad audience which guarantess more sales. I'm as sad as you, but think of it as an inevitable change. First of all because the original studio is no longer intact. Secondly because Blizzard is becoming larger and more commercial. It's what happens to all games once the company expands and becomes more corporate. The grittiness disappears. Think of the original C&C (Westwood) as opposed now to the modern C&C (EA). I applaud your efforts, but I doubt they'll do anything to change the style.

To get into the specifics, the backgrounds, as always, look incredibly detailed and overall look really good. But yes, there is too much saturation, not enough darks. Overall, however, the backgrounds look really really good. My main problem is the characters, which you can't do much about and here's why: You can't shadow dynamic characters well in 3D, leaving the character fully lit. This is horrible for a Diablo game. A fully lit character ( enemy or hero ) isn't gothic, it's cartoony. Combine this with low poly counts on the characters, and you get a really cartoony style. Sure, you could change the hue/saturation/contrast to make the backgrounds look more gothic, but the characters are still going to look cartoony. I would guess that this style is also just the result of the limitations of 3D graphics.

The solution to the cartoony character problem would be: Dynamic Ambient Occlusion like in Crysis and higher poly models. This would add tons more lag, and this is against Blizzard's policy of making games that run really well.
This sums up my thoughts on the matter, well said.
