    So, BurningRope...bitter much?...LOL

Not so much "bitter". I'm more upset with myself for staying around there so long. I told myself to just stop going there, but then I'd see some post from some random retarded person and there I was

I understand. I would do the same thing...Well, they deleted my "Goodbye Cruel World" farewell post...lol...so that's it.

haha I only did that for a little while.^^^maybe a few days and felt insanely smh for doing it. Which is probably a contribution to rolling

materials in next patch. My guess is xpgem and cains will also get a
    rework sometime in the future.

    Gotcha. Good hunting!

posted a message on Sentry Buff Icon Useless to all Demon Hunters

I originally posted a short version of this in the 2.2 PTR feedback forum on 3-2-2015, and in general discussion on 4-8-2015.

The Sentry icon is useless for all Demon Hunter builds that use Sentries.

    From the 2.2.0 patch notes:

"Now displays a buff icon indicating how many Sentries you have active."

    It's Bugged!
The first reason why this icon is useless is because it's bugged. You can prove it to yourself. Go to any area of the game. Invite a friend there. Have him stand next to you. Plant all your Sentries around him, then port back to town.

When you get there, ask him how many Sentries he sees around him. He will say, "None." Now look at your buff icon. It might not be there. Or it might be there. And it might say any number on it from just the bare icon, to the maximum number of Sentries you had planted.

When you port to a new area, the icon will tell you you have some number of Sentries sitting there, when you have none. When you plant your first Sentry, that number will increment, but it will be a lie. You will never know how many Sentries you actually have summoned unless you just keep pushing the button long enough to know that there must be at least the maximum number sitting there by now.

So the first problem is that the Sentry buff icon is unreliable. I thought they might have fixed it for patch 2.3, but they haven't. It's still bugged.

    It Doesn't Help The Player!
In my mind, there is a difference between an "active" Sentry, and one that just happens to be sitting on the ground five screens away, even if it is still adding to the M6 damage bonus.

For me, an "active Sentry" is one that is on the screen with me, shooting at the monsters I am shooting at, and helping in the fight.

As it is now, the Sentry Icon always just says 5 (or 3, or 2)...it never changes, even if there isn't a single Sentry anywhere on the screen.

And if I am not playing an M6 build, then that number on the icon means absolutely nothing to me, because I don't get a damage bonus from just having a Sentry sitting on the ground somewhere; it needs to be on the screen with me, shooting at the monsters I am shooting at.

Recall that once you move out a range of the Sentry, when it's off the screen, all action and fighting stops, except for when an M6 fires it's Hatred spender. Then the Sentry will fire at an enemy at least one screen away, as long as the enemy is within range of the character.

Also, I need to know at a glance, in the heat of battle, when I can't see anything on the screen but skill and ground effects, when to summon a new Sentry into the fight. The icon is beyond useless in helping me do that: it always says "5." So for a non-M6 build, it might as well not even be there.

When I originally posted this, the overwhelming response was, "Who cares how many Sentries are on the screen? I only want to know how many I have adding to my damage bonus." That was before the introduction of the Unhallowed Essence set.

Now, I'm sure the overwhelming response will be, "Who uses Sentries anymore?"

So be it. The core problem remains; the Sentry icon is useless for all Demon Hunter builds that use Sentries, whether any particular player cares about that fact or not.

To reiterate, I mentioned this in the 2.2.0 PTR Feedback Forum on March 2nd, but I guess Blizzard never revisited this item.

    How To Fix It!
Knowing only how many Sentries are on the screen with the character might not be that useful to the M6 player. Although each of those Sentries on the screen are adding +280% weapon damage per second to the fight, an M6 player might not care about that, and just want to have Sentries planted to get that +100% damage bonus for each Sentry, no matter where it is.

On the other hand, knowing how many Sentries have been historically planted, even though not a single one of them may be on the screen with the character, would be absolutely useless to any player not playing an M6 build.

So the Sentry icon needs two numbers on it. One in the bottom-left corner of the icon to show how many Sentries are on the screen and shooting at monsters, and one to show how many extant Sentries there are in total.

    Thoughts?

haywoodsJblo, I'll see if I can stir the pots.

By the way, your signature block advertises, "message your battletag if you need some help in diablo. free t6 or trials."

"Free," as opposed to what - charging something for the service, which is illegal both in the game and to talk about on this forum? I suggest you remove that word from your signature block.

posted a message on Let's try this again..making Diablo 3 competitive
    Quote from Glowpipe»

One way to sort it out is to make every rift level the same. my greater rift 45 is the exact same as every one else's 45. And 46 is the exact same for everyone. But a little more difficult then 45.

It is impossible to get this going and balanced. But it would sort things out :P

GP, that's good thinking. I've been saying the same things over on the Diablo 3 forums ever since the implementation of Greater Rifts. Nearly the same thing.

While the concept of competition certainly has a number of interpretations in general, it has a very narrow definition in this game:

A wide range of competitors struggle for a single top spot (based on group composition) by running on highly diverse courses that are completely randomized for each competitor for each run.

Why do you think racecar drivers do well? They know the course. They walk the course before timed trials, and they practice the course before races.

A single field of racecar drivers do not all race on different courses for the same checkered flag.

There will never be any real "competition" in Diablo III until Blizzard makes the map layouts of Greater Rifts, and the monster types, population, and density, standardized and constant through every instance of Greater Rift.

Greater Rift maps need this standardization, so that after a few hundred Greater Rifts, contestants will know the map before they enter, know the layout, know how to gear for it, and be able to progress through it with the only hindrance being survival and monster kill speed.

Tier 39 will have a different layout than Tier 23, but every Tier 39 Greater Rift will have the same layout; maps, monsters, affixes, pylon locations, and Rift Guardian.

Until then, there will never be any real competition in this game, and the "leaderboards" will measure nothing except who the luckiest player is, who had the most time to sink into gameplay; the one who found the right gear, got a favorable map with no dead ends, wherein the right monsters with easy affixes spawned with good density, and where a pushover Rift Guardian spawned.

With standardization, Clans and Communities will spring up, so players can discuss tactics and strategies for approaching this particular monster with that gear set, and what to do when you round this one corner.

We would have a reason to talk about the game, not just gripe about it.

    Competition would be real.

PS: the activity of fishing for Pylons has ended, because pylons are dynamically introduced into the Greater Rift maps as you progress through them, and now every type of pylon spawns in every greater rift at roughly equal intervals, where the only real randomization is what type it's going to be when it spawns. But almost always there will be a Conduit or Power, sometimes Channeling at the Rift Guardian, and after he spawns, no further Pylons will. You could spend the rest of your time in the Rift searching it, and you won't find another one.

posted a message on Crafting Cain's Pants lvl 23

Haven't they said that they have removed the level requirement from crafting? That anytime you craft something it will be at your level?

I've only played the PTR for a couple of hours, and during that time I didn't bother crafting anything. But isn't that how it's supposed to work?

posted a message on I'm just new...not really spamming....

    Hi guys.

I am StoneOld (x2), StoneCold, and OldPro. You folks can call me Mike if you like.

Well, after two years, four accounts (all of which I still play) nearly 15,000 posts, too many suspensions for ridiculous reasons, and being harassed, insulted, intimidated, trolled, and flamed by the same people I've reported hundreds of times, I'm done with the official Diablo 3 forums.

But there are a lot of topics that I would like to continue to discuss - I suppose I should say start to discuss - on this forum. I understand I'm not supposed to speak badly of any group, but it seems to me, in general, the IQ on the Diablo 3 official forums is hardly higher than my shoe size. I've heard many good things about the heightened levels of discussion on this forum, so I ask your indulgence in this one and only post I will make that speaks badly of group of people.

In the next few days, you folks may see a lot of posts from me about many various topics. It's not that I decide to show up and start spamming everything, I just want to get these discussions out there to see what kinds of thoughts you folks have on them.

I understand that not being the Diablo 3 official forums, one can't post with the expectation that the developers will read it, therefore if any of my posts contain suggestions on how game mechanisms should be changed, I'm merely looking for consensus, or opposition in the form of friendly debate.

I look forward to discussing all aspects of Diablo 3 with all of you.

    Good luck, and good hunting.

But what about the Key of Evil?

Surely Blizzard knows that 4 keys are required?

Or was the same idiot who did the Kadala buff/nerf also working on the Key project?"

    "Nice work, Blizz.

Ever thought about just firing your net code crew and starting over? How about this; hire back the guys that wrote the code for v1.0.7. Now that was some stable code. No video lag, no synchronization problems, None of the maddening stuttering that I have today, which seems to just keep getting worse every week.

    What's really going on here?
