    Also,
define P2W. What do you win? There was zero competition in D3 vanilla.
You just grinded for items for the sake of grinding items. The auction
house was a mistake because it made trading too easy and too valuable.
That doesn't mean that trading is the root of all evil and has to be
    eliminated. It's a design choice.

Diablo 2 and Path of Exile were build around trading. For both games, you can buy items for money on third party sites.

It will always happen as long as you can give valuable things in game to another player.

If the developer sells the best gear for money, it's p2w. Most players agree and don't like that.

If third party sites do that, and some of the stuff sold is stolen from hacked accounts, it doesn't make it less p2w.

    Bagstone is right.

I think the changed skull grasp ring is not the solution. It should be changed again to an "increases damage against the first three targets" item.

@Wow: You can't compared naxx to now. Raiding in vanilla was about enduring statistical failure. The mechanics from MC to some parts of Naxx are supersimple compared to now and the way characters were played was supersimpel as well. Naxx tuning was exacly on the edge of what was possible, so yes, it was hard but in a very different kind of hard than todays mythics raids. In todays raids there are far more mechanics to deal with. The individual challenge for every player has gone up, while the possibility to wipe because someone else failed has gone down.

    @Harder Journey:

I know Grift 70 is supersupersupereasy for the superstreamerelite. However, setting it to maybe 85 will not filter out unskilled players. High grifts are not done by skill alone. The best way to place in single grifts is to use a group to get the most amount of exp and the highest gems, so increasing the requirement for solo grifts is not going to challenge the skill, it challenges time and social connection. Diablo is a game about time and dedication. If you think the journey should require more of that: fine, but dont give me that crap about skill and casuals and stuff.

All the devs had to do [...]

If pvp was about standing there, doing 100% DPS and the one with more dps or toughness wins, then maybe. But pvp does not work that way. Theres much more about movement, cc effects, targeting, automatic damage from for example turrents and pets and much more. Some damage modifiers are not enough. Players won't even use the same builds. They would find builds that may be pure crap in pve, but totally OP in pvp and then stuffs needs to be "balanced" and it influences pve and it starts to get complicated.

If you like skillbased pvp, there are games that are much better suited for that.

If you like to roflstomp others with your supergear and high paragon, fine, but i don't think other players would love to be roflstomped.

Funny how you define "easy". Reaching Gr 65 or Gr75 is not much a matter of skill and reducing the required grift level does not filter out unskilled players from getting that part of the journey. Really bad players won't reach that anyway and the average gamer can do it sooner or later by getting enough raw power. It only takes time.

The skill part is important when progress from gear is at its limit -> high level grifts. Nerfing and buffing stuff can't change the difficulty there because grift levels are not limited. Doesn't matter if the best players can reach Gr95 or Gr 120. It's the best they can do with the available gear and near perfect play.

    @Necrosummon's three types:

I'm type 2. I never pushed the ladder and i also never did the guardian part of the journey because leveling a hardcore character is a bullshit waste of time and i don't have people to powerlevel me.

make it a game of [...]trading.

what d2 used to be (or poe, [...])

A thing about trading. I often read "reintroduce trading" as a solution for that loot problem. Trading can never ever solve that.

Trading is a source of loot. It's a way to get loot outside of killing stuff. While using the trade chat would be open to anyone, there will be players who share items within their clan because it makes sense. The most dedicated players in this game will more likely have a clan and other players willing to share with them. Streamers can get stuff from their fans. More casual and solo players will less likely have access to sharing items.

-> More loot for those who want lower droprates
-> Not much more loot for those who think droprate is fine or even too low

One reason why vanilla drops where almost always crappy was the auction house because it was a source for items. If they implemented trading and wanted to keep the time to gear up the same, they would need to reduce other sources or gear.
-> Same amount of loot for traders, most likely dedicated players who want lower droprates
-> Less loot for casual and solo players, more likely those who think droprate is fine or even too low

posted a message on blizzard doesnt love diablo anymore.

At this point with Overwatch, and the eSports direction Blizz is taking, I doubt there is much of a future for D3 or Diablo in general unless they can find a way to make it more competitive. But based on the fact they couldn't figure out PvP for D3, that prob. won't happen.

As far as i read, HotS matchmaking times have gone up since the release of overwatch. Overwatch cannibalized a part of the player base. They already have a multiplayer cardgame, a multiplayer strategy game, a multiplayer battle arena, a multiplayer shooter and of course that one MMO. Replacing diablos spot with another competitive multiplayer game doesn't make sense. They already have those players playing their games.

Me for example, i don't play multiplayer games because i can't stand the social aspect with the players asshole attitude and diablos purely optional multiplayer fits my needs just fine. It's not that diablo is not competitive or not social at all. But it allows to play solo and at your own pace and schedule. That is someting HotS, Overwatch and WoW can't deliver and a diablo expansion or a new diablo would be a must buy for players like me.

NOW,HIRE ME AS A JUNIOR GAME DEVELOPER, BLIZZARD. THANK YOU

Sry to disappoint you. The blizz people already know all that.

Fixing the game for the most dedicated players and the streamers is supereasy. Players are watching streams because they care about the game. If the game is changed in a way that it works awesome for streamers, fulltime-players and other very dedicated people, but not for the average player, why should the average player watch streams about that game, a game that has nothing to offer for his kind.

Diablo 3 is a supermainstream ARPG. It needs to be. Without the mainstream, no public interest.
Yes, you can be top#1 in the leaderboards and complain that gearing is too fast. You can also play a game where gearing takes 1500 hours and after 1200 hours you get your item and youre superproud and superhappy and its the best day of your life, but the game takes too much time for most players, so youre top#1 in a game that no one cares about.

There can't be an "elite" without the majority.

For me, droprates are fine. I play solo and every season I spend roughly between 40 to 80 hours in Diablo III.

Within that time, I can collect the things I need for the build to work and then push as far as I can get before the game becomes about paragon farming. The time I spend in Diablo each season is more than it takes to finish most single player games, so that's fine.

I don't need a game that keeps me playing for weeks and months and forever.
