It will depend on the %. If it's 5%, it won't be a big deal. 10% would be ok. 15%+ would be a little worse and so on.
Wait till they officially announce it, I say.

I can't help but feel like there is something missing from these podcasts now.
It is actually hard to listen to these now because I want to chime in with my opinions on the subjects. Hopefully I'll find the time to still be in a few of them.
Find the time! I got too used to your nerdy voice and you're the only PvE specialist on the podcast team!
I feel like doing the "2008 thing" and start a petition about it -

Apr 16, 2011FingolfinGR posted a message on Randomized RandomizationThe only random dungeon i can remember that looked good (considering the fact that it was put together from pieces through a generator) was the tower where the Countess is in. Almost everything else felt pretty much glued together.Posted in: News
Only thing i didn't mind for outdoor levels was the Jungle in act 3 cause jungles are supposed to be pretty chaotic anyway.
As for Diablo 3, until the beta comes and i get spoiled to death (and love it) i'll stick with the few stuff i've seen from the demos (even though, honestly, they could be engineered specifically to display the game again) and with hope that it can't be worse than Diablo II. Mostly cause lighting can make all the difference in the world and the team seems to have a clear goal at how each region will have stuff that don't seem out of place and take their time to work towards it. -
Apr 16, 2011FingolfinGR posted a message on Randomized RandomizationPosted in: NewsQuote from Gheed2010
I think the "fired tester" described them as "glued together rectangles". Unsurprising, seeing as how there isn't a single person on that team with random dungeon experience from Diablo 1 or 2, as a designer, coder, or artist.
I personally liked the small touches of randomization in terms of the town exit and placement, it made each game feel a little more unique, even though I agree that it was badly implemented in most cases.
My whine is that because d2 botched so many non-dungeon randomness elements doesn't mean it isn't a great idea if it is done right, and a team with nearly infinite resources really has no excuse.
I think you're giving too much credibility to a person that obviously isn't who he says he is, Gheed. We explained why he's full of it in another thread.
It's also not a 12 year project but about 5 year project (for now). How much it cost so far is also not told, so you're just speculating.
And by the looks of the dungeons so far (with the exception of the first gameplay video that was specifically engineered to just show the game) they look nothing like "glued together rectangles". That's how Diablo II dungeons and outdoors environments looked.
Now for the most part Scyber got things covered i think. -

I disagree.Quote from ScyberDragon
I disagree, if there was anything that got boring first after years of playing D2, it was the quests. Completing the same small amount of quests became trivial in D2. With randomized quests, it will "feel" different every time you play and will give you different objectives to complete.
Quests were just landmarks. I did everything in the game because I could. Some specific few had permanent rewards, which made it even better.
The randomized quests are completely pointless. And I wonder, why should I care about some idiot with his caravan that lost something completely meaningless, a guy that won't even be there the next time.
Random quests are shallow and boring.
Now it's my turn to disagree.
Random quests, if done right(tm) can make all the difference in the world. When you run around in the wilderness and find a caravan being attacked and you help the people there, the world feels more alive. Then you help them get back some of the stuff they lost as a follow-up quest. And of course after that the caravan leaves. You can't expect a caravan to be static after all
Remember how many people loved how you found Zhar the mad (not the one we have in the forums) or the Halls of the Blind in the original Diablo. Or the Warlord of Blood, Chamber of Bone, Arcaine's Valor (in D1 that had a random quest for it). It was awesome! That's what i hope for in D3 too. -
Mar 27, 2011FingolfinGR posted a message on How will set items work?I think starting low and growing.Posted in: News
By this i mean that i chose Scalable with character level and Craftable.
I don't want just one of those, i want both. We get lower level set items and can upgrade them to their high lvl versions using the Artisans and tons of materials.
Of course the higher level versions should be able to drop off monsters too, but for the unlucky ones that don't have those to drop it would be a really nice alternative and a goal to work towards. -

No, it's using the StarCraft II terrain of the levels with lava. It's actually quite impressive work. I'd definitely like to see some custom spells with a character that looks Diablo like -

Mar 22, 2011FingolfinGR posted a message on Rune Swapping Restrictions PollPosted in: NewsQuote from Apoc
Players should be allowed to remove runes at any time out of combat, but in doing do it gets destroyed. The Mystic will be able to carefully remove the rune so players can save it for future cube-grades.
That could actually be a pretty good way to do it. Of course it would mean that at higher levels (high rune ranks) you'd have to visit the Mystic cause those runes should be quite expensive. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I didn't think the game looked too childish anyway, but the comparison pretty much made me even more certain about how others will look at it.

I'll still play at least up to Hell if not Inferno on Softcore to get more used to how strong the bosses are before stepping in to play Hardcore. It'd be too hardcore for me (especially with the suicidal builds I'm making) to go Hardcore from the start.
