Again this is old news but it doesn't really have a bad side since enemies are still random (as seen from the screenshots) and combined with the new random adventures players still have a unique experience everytime they play outside. As it has been said before it's just to make the outside look more solid and believable.
Also in case some of you don't remember D2 had its share of static areas (e.g. Catacomb lvl4, Durance of hate lvl3, Chaos Sanctuary, Mount Arreat Summit, etc.) and nobody ever gave a mind about the fact it wasn't random.

Sep 6, 2008Veltras posted a message on Awesome Diablo 3 Timeline & Media UpdateYeah that's what Ureh is there for. It already has been said by Leonard and Bashiok that we wouldn't see Skovos in D3 but that the Artwork was to build a background for Sanctuary. It's probably the background for a new class or as some might want to believe a future MMO.Posted in: News

$%#$ where can I buy this game now!?!... oh wait nvm
It's an obvious improvement from the previous games, but I'm still glad to hear they're going to do it. When you look at SC or even WC you can easily find memorable protagonists from the story (like Zeratul, Kerrigan, Arthas, Malfurion, etc.), but looking at Diablo the only thing you find are antagonists or NPCs (The Butcher, Lazarus, Tyrael, Diablo, etc.). Sure we remember all of the classes' from both games, but we like never got to actually know them, like who are they in the first place, what's their past and why are they doing this. I think it's about time they give the main classes a personality of their own. -
Sep 5, 2008Veltras posted a message on Top 10 Monster Comebacks in Diablo IIIWhere's the Oblivion Knight? Okay they weren't that cool in D2, but in D1 they were really scary evil looking .Posted in: News
And what about the Souls, who hasn't at least been killed once by a barrage of lightning coming at you from nowhere and then one of those ghastly being popped out of thin air.
Certainly both of them are more memorable than the Blunderbore and the Blood Lord (even though they were pretty cool too). -

yes we know marius is kaput... my point is, he was so frail and dumb and stupid and weak, do you think his history might be revealed a little in D3... WHY HE GOT THE DREAMS? remember? he always had the dreams. Even before he met the wanderer.
What made him so special?
Marius is just one of Diablo's back up guy. You know the guy who do all the important stuff while Diablo's busy fighting Tyrael or something. I'm sure he got others, like that other guy Juris Khan, since he wasn't killed in Kingdom of Shadow I think we should be hearing about him soon. Diablo needs a way to come back on Sanctuary after all, but again that's another story... -

so the horadrim was established in 897. ok that is ok to me.
mephisto soulstone under kurast area in 902. ok sounds reasonable.
diablo captured and horadric monastary built. 918. ok
and im skipping the rest cause it mostly gameplay.
baal defeted in mount arreat and worldstone destroyed.....!!!!! 1265!!!!!!
ok this makes me think. horadrim. only surviving horadrim. dekard cain. now we dont know how old he joined horadrim(i think) but we know he was with the capture of the prime evils.
which would mean 902-1265 he has been alive. WTF.
this guy is over 200 years old???????????????
begin discusion of this old geazzer now.....
I think I understand what your trying to say, but Jered Cain is Cain's grand father or something like that, so there's no problem here. -
Sep 4, 2008Veltras posted a message on Awesome Diablo 3 Timeline & Media UpdateCool update, Skovos apparently isn't a location we'll go to in D3 but it serves as a background from one of the new classes...Posted in: News
There's a strange mage looking guy standing on a rock in the second artwork. Strange, maybe he's conjuring that sandstorm or whatever it is. -

Yeah but when you reenter you have to start everything from scratch that's where they get you. -
Aug 25, 2008Veltras posted a message on G4TV's Adam Sessler Attacks Diablo 3's Art HatersPosted in: NewsQuote from "ld006" »the art direction is not bad, it just doesn't fit diablo at all, if we didn't know that diablo 3 was being made and we looked at that barbarian woman screenshot, we would never think that it's diablo 3, we would think it's from a new WOW game or something, but not diablo.
Lol, with all the crazy rumors going on around here during last June/July everyone would have jumped on those screenshots yelling like madnuts DIABLO 3
Quote from "ld006" »and blizzard is not changing the graphics because they already made most of the game using WOW ideas and WOW looking graphics, they said it themselves that diablo 3 is very influenced by WOW, and WOW makes money so if they take some things from WOW they are hoping to attrack WOW players too and hope it will be almost as big as WOW...all of us diablo fans will buy diablo 3, even if we like it or not just to see how it is.
TBH the game doesn't have the WoW feeling, the screenshots don't make D3 justice watch the videos again and go visit diablo3.com another time.
Quote from "ld006" »Blizzard north really didn't think diablo would make a lot of money, they just made a great game (even with its few flaws it was still great) without thinking about making a lot of money, but this is not blizzard's case anymore, I remember when they listened to their fans and made games because they wanted to make great games, not because they wanted to make money.
I remember that time when they used to listen to their fans and made games because they wanted to make great games... it's what they're doing right now:P. Btw they are also their own fans and they can't listen to 100% of what the community has to say...
Quote from "ld006" »there are way to many blizzard fans that think they can't do anything wrong, that they are game making gods or something and trust blizzard completely, I don't really think blizzard has made any good games besides diablo and diablo 2 (exp not included), WOW is total crap and played by losers and little kids. I remember playing diablo 1 and having the crap scared out of me, I was actually afraid to go in a fight the monsters and I'm sure a lot of you got at least chills playing diablo 1 and it wasn't only scary, but it wa salso fun and it took skill and thinking, but diablo 3 has lost the "diablo" heart and doesn't really feel like diablo anymore, diablo 1 had crap graphics, but at least they did what they were meant to do, inmerse you in the game and scare you.
It sucks that the graphics look colorful and too soft and have no texture or defenition at all, like most people say, they look like paintings, if I wanna look at a painting then I go to a museum, but I don't wanna kill a zombie that doesn't look like a zombie or walk through a monster infected section that doesn't look scary, graphics might not play an important part in most games, but they do in diablo, and I too like vegas don't play many games and carefully choose which ones to play because I don't have much time to play games and I rather use it playing a great game than just random other not so good games
blizzard's arguments about the gaem are not substantial either, it's all bull because they just DON'T wanna change the graphics and want to appeal to as many people as possible, thus they are aiming for a non mature rating too :/
YAWN, look Diablo 3 is going to be Diablo 3 and that's it. You don't know yet if you'll get that Diablo 1 chill at some during the game and it's certainly not going to feel like this during the whole for the simple reason that their showing more of the Diablo universe and sometimes there's more to Diablo than ruthless evil. As for the mature raiting, they said they wouldn't want to have an european mature rating so that means what it means... -
Aug 25, 2008Veltras posted a message on Leipzig 2008: inDiablo talks to Jay Wilson about death and tradePosted in: NewsQuote from "Romak" »Because you died right in a middle of a demon fest without being alittle more careful, that's why. Of course, if you died because of something stupid... like if you died in a place with low number of enemies because you forgot to drink potion or you had a lag, it would be very easy for you to recover your corpse, but if you died surrounded by monsters that were strong enough to kill you before you were able to react, you deserve a game restart. To be honest, that didn't happen for me alot of times, not even when I played though Hell in Single Player.
I don't die often either but all this is stupid. You know what people do on bnet? They quit and reenter the game to get their corpse back then someone tp them and they're back on their feet before they even know it. I prefer having to suffer higher penalties as long as they keep the pace of the game fast. Besides it's likely that you won't be able to cast tp while fighting monsters so those checkpoints are indeed going to be important to keep the pace fast. -
Aug 25, 2008Veltras posted a message on Leipzig 2008: inDiablo talks to Jay Wilson about death and tradePosted in: NewsQuote from "Romak" »and if you are surrounded by hordes of demons, you're done for So anyway...
Why would I have to create a new game because I can't get my corpse back, that sucks big time. It sounds Wowish but I think you should at least be given the option to start back in town with all your gear for greater penalties. -
Aug 25, 2008Veltras posted a message on Leipzig 2008: inDiablo talks to Jay Wilson about death and tradePosted in: NewsQuote from "Mackan" »I didn't like his talk about almost making no penalty when you die... I mean, I want some real motivation to stay alive, other than not wasting time. So of course I want some penalty that hurts.. a bit.
It's not about not giving any penalty, it's more about not pissing off people who die. Like losing a lot of XP and having to walk all your back to your corpse with no gear and your using a melee can be pretty annoying. Besides if gold is going to be more important there's still some important penalty for dying.
I'm really curious as for what death system they're going to come up with and how it will be different from both WoW and D2. -

I hope he just didn't choose the right words, I hoped for something longer than D2.
Also there will be more than one central town per act which implies that the acts should be longer than in D2. -
Aug 23, 2008Veltras posted a message on G4TV's Adam Sessler Attacks Diablo 3's Art HatersWhat do you expect the people on the forums to do during all day long waiting for D3 to hit the shelves? Compliment the game? Discuss the mechanics? Make speculations about the new classes?Posted in: News
No that's way too complicated and boring. It's a lot more fun to spam or flame one another and way more easy to just throw up a bunch of nonsense about the graphics.
Hopefully this will eventually die out when we get more info about the game. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I meant he didn't tp out right away, the Barb had to get him back to the entrance of the dungeon.
0
I'm pretty you'll only be able to use TPs at those checkpoints and that's probably why in the trailer Cain didn't just tp himself out right away like in D2.
0
I have a weird feeling that these checkpoints are actually "neutral" zones without any monsters in it, and that it is also the only places where you can use a tp. Ever noticed the lack of mob in most dungeon entrances in the previous Diablos? Sounds like an ideal place to put checkpoints.

Right click on Diablo 2's icon and select the compatibilty tab, select Windows XP Service Pack 2 and check the 256 colors box and it should work normally. It worked for me.

Assuming that Blizz does a kick ass job like usual, I can see 2 reasons for why people would hate a new class
1) Because Blizz didn't showcase the coolest aspect of that class leaving the best for ourselves to discover
2) Because Diablo 3 isn't out yet
0
That's not how it works, the people still have the power of the Nephalem but they are just not aware of it and they can't learn how to use it without exterior help because of the effects the Worldstone had on them.
As a side note, Rathma does mention that the power mutates with the generations and that Uldyssian possesses power that he doesn't have and vice versa.
0
Also we don't know what happen to them and they are immortal, so there's a chance we'll meet with them in D3
0
If you look at some classes from D2 like the Barbarian and the Necromancer, they have at least one ancestor who was one of the firstborn like Bul Kathos and Rathma, so the Nephalems aren't a class in itself.

Sorry I thought I read how will Diablo be in D3
Kingdom of Shadow hinted some sort of link between Diablo and Ureh (mainly through its ruler Juris Khan). Since Ureh is lost between Heaven and Hell, I think it's possible that it will play an important role in the return of Diablo.

Looking at how Blizz is working on monsters mechanic I think you should be more worried about what skill you'll need to use to get it to unburrow.
0
From how things look right now I'd say that's how Act 2 will begin, but since Caldeum is just next to Ureh I think it will end up looking quite different.

The new screenshots are way too repetitive, and there's still like almost a month left before Blizzcon. Ah but what are you gonna do about it huh?
