posted a message on M6 solo build questions

Havent played in about 6 months and decided since I had almost full ancient everything for the current M6 builds I'd give them a whirl. Took a huge hit to damage going manticore, Zoey's and WoC though. Like 400k. Still need to find ancients of those. Cubed I've got Dawn, Gunes and CoE. I also had to roll CDR into my Hellfire too get 100% Vengence uptime.

My issue is I'm tanky as hell but I'm stuck at grift 70. Not due to dying but just time. Setup is focus, maelstrom, polar, seethe, companion and tumble. Passives are awareness, ballistics, custom and CtW with TotH on my ammy. Oh and I'm wearing focus and restraint and for gems BotT, taeguk and Zei's.

Im looking for advice as to where I could give up some toughness to gain some damage most efficiently. Things that came to mind was losing 15% sentry damage to get 20% cold in my ammy. Cubing Zoey's instead of Gune so I could wear a nice witching hour. Switching the Clarity for better wrists that I have.

The extra CHC is just a bonus. What makes it good is that our best generator EA Focus procs it which in turn procs BotT. And it hits in a wide arc at range plus the CC is nice.

I was thinking that a EF:Focus (or Frost Arrow with Krider), cold MS build could be great for damage and CC. Gem with with Iceblink, Zei's, and BoT and you have a super kiting build with good dps.

I think you'll find you'll want to go with the fire MS build simply because the rockets from Arsenal plus the Ballistics passive actually do most of your damage in my experience. Otherwise the setup above as far as gems is perfect. Seems right now that's what all UE builds are doing. Focus is more than enough to advantage of Iceblinks CC capabilities.

posted a message on Reflect Damage is the bane of my UE existence.

I dropped a Crashing Rain a couple days ago so last night I figured I'd try out a Natalya's build. Even in very non-optimized gear the damage is pretty silly and I found, oddly, that even though Stampede is consistently is hitting for billions it does way less damage to you when reflect is up than either EF- Focus or MS. I really don't get the underlying mechanics of reflect damage. Perhaps, with Stampede anyway, the knockback had some effect on Reflect.

How did you not have problems with reflect in marauder? On higher rifts I die almost instantly if I even touch a pack with reflect on.

Well, it was easier to at least still do some damage through your sentries while not directly hitting the pack with your own spender, then get a few shots in while reflect was down, rinse and repeat. With this setup I'm finding reflect much worse because there is nothing to do while reflect is up really but kite. And I'm finding that the pets did a lot more tanking than I originally suspected, because just kiting while reflect is up with even slightly fast mobs it ends up being a death sentence.

posted a message on Some TR skill questions

Wanted to switch it up from always using my DH to try to push so I've been trying out a TR wiz. Is there a rotation that best maximizes damage? Right now I open up with Electrocute for Dynamo stacks and to proc Bastions, follow up with Blizzard for BotT, then teleport Calamity then drop a Mammoth Hydra. First question would be does the hydra snapshot all those stacks or does it not matter? Second question would be what's the most effective use of Calamity? Teleporting close to a mob has never worked out well for me. Are people just teleporting from one safe spot to another to proc the TR stack?

Thanks for the extremely informative post, wudijo. And I'm assuming nothing's been changed in regards to Reflects caps right? It's still a max of 10% of the mobs health total?

Coming from M6 I never thought much of it as being a problematic affix. Of course you could shoot away from it and still get some damage in from sentries but it wasn't unusual to land a CA while reflect was up now and then and it took maybe a quarter of my life. If that. I've switched to a UE fire Arsenal build and a single MS while reflect is up one shots me. What's changed? I was never very clear on the mechanics of Reflect Damage to begin with because it never was a problem. Is it simply because a single MS shot does so much more damage than a single CA did? At this point for me I'm basically skipping them in anything over 40 because they just take too much time due to a single mistake killing me.

posted a message on Is MS viable as your main damage skill with UE?

I'm running a build similar to yours (on PS4) but with a, not very good, Balefire, Iceblink instead of BotP, and Vengeance - Seethe in place of Sentry. I mostly run with a friend of mine but I did a few solos yesterday and did a 42 with time to spare. My biggest problem is deaths right now. I kill plenty fast and the RG goes down super fast but I'm not quite there on the playstyle (coming from Physical M6). My gear needs some optimization without a doubt but my biggest issue is the faster mobs that close on you quickly. That and Reflect Damage is utterly ridiculous. And if I can't skip them due to mob layout they just take so much time. One or two shots while their reflect is up kills me.

You left out Dead Man's Legacy which I'd think would be the best quiver for the MS Arsenal build in the very least.

I'm wondering the same. Currently I'm testing between my Ancient Arcane Barb (1543-1922 dam) and an Ancient Danetta's Spite (1316-1634 dam, +12 disc) and taking off most other gear just to the straight numbers the Danetta's seems to just slightly outperforming the Barb for some reason though I would have expected the opposite.

The last I checked the top seasonal US solo DH is using an iceblink. UE Arsenal build using EF Focus for gen and to proc it.
