Experience. A P900 monk has most likely played with more setups in high GRifts. Therefore he knows better when to fight and when to move on. This is a big problem in PUG groups. A lot of players just keep on fighting small groups or leftovers.

    Quote from TianZigo-next

Heal monk is probably the single hardest class/spec to play efficiently as this game.
My understanding of high Paragon requirements was to make more or less sure the guy had good gear and high-level gems, which is not that important on the supports IMO. Although I see your points, I still think P900 for a support is arbitrarily high. I've far over 1k hours played, ran my fair share of high GR as support and DPS, yet I just became P900 2 weeks ago because I didn't participate in the 24/7 speed GR meta until recently.

I've done most of my runs with P600-700 supports from pugs and almost everytime things were just fine - communication is key. One support should be the dedicated leader, who decides when to fight and when to skip, the rest has to look out for his movements/pings.

Not to mention that 600 player will do way less damage then 1k player will, not only cause of massive paragon discrepency but a chance is 1k player also has a better gear.

Absolutely. The difference between 600 and 1k on a DPS is usually immense and will show in your clear times despite density RNG. Supports? Not so much.

People like to be efficient. The setups and players they look for help them in doing so.

To clear GRifts efficiently, the party needs to

    a) stay alive consistently (healing + damage reduction, Monk + Barb are best at that)

    b) pull lots of trash together, because most specs scale well with density (again, Monk + Barb are best at that)

    c) clear lots of trash fast, because that gives progress (EP Monk is best at that, followed by most AoE specs like HoTA, Helltooth, and so on)

    d) have lots of single-target damage to burn down elites and RGs, to a lesser extent exploding EPs (Carnevil is by far the absolute best at that).

Sure you can make a lot of stuff work, but the party has to build around that. If you play in fixed group with friends who just want to play this one class, you can accomodate. But for random groups its just easier (and hence more efficient) to go with the meta and just have ready-to-go chars join a game.

I don't mind doing things differently. Just yesterday a barb buddy of mine wanted to do some 2 man grifts. I dropped some dps on my WD for toughness because we had no monk, and we continued to plow through GR60s. But it took some time to get that setup working, many people don't want that.

As for paragon requirements, I partially agree and disagree. Over the bounty weekend I joined public games for the first time, because it was so easy to find players that way. Most of the time I got P600+ (I'm >900) and everything was totally fine. A few times I was matched with P200-300s. They consistently

    a) did the same bounties someone else was doing at the same time

    b) were killing random mobs instead of focusing on the objective

    c) accepted the boss-kill bounties after taking 20+ seconds to react, only to have me one-shot the bosses anyways,

    d) etc...

And this is okay, since they just don't have the game figured out yet - but I don't waste my time explaining split bounties over and over and over and over - I just leave game and look for another group.

On the other hand, I keep seeing requests like "+1 heal monk >P900". 3-4 class specific items, the rest crafted with low gear requirements, why would one need P900 for that - at P400+ a healing monk can be just as decent if he knows how to play... That I cannot wrap my head around.

    ^ THIS!

My team is currently #2 EU 4man NS with 2 Carnevil docs. We haven't been able to improve on that because of lag - which is probably also the reason nobody has overtaken us yet. We just completely lucked out on getting responsive servers when doing these runs.

... and that is only from the first 2 pages. The list of threads like this goes on and an - the only blue response we ever got was from John Yang on Carnevil lag. His recent tweets suggest they are working on fixing Helltooth lag, which is nice but probably doesn't solve the root of the issue.

Not that I want other classes to suffer, but at least the problem is getting some traction now that other classes are affected (almost) as badly as we are.

Manajuma's WD will be pretty quick and is really fun to play. Team up with a good team, no matter the class, and with some luck this can be done.

I was actually doing pretty well without them in GR56+. But as it seems, the next patch will cement Jeram's as the go-to bracers anyways.

Just to make sure, Jeram's Bracers are NOT neccessary. Casting WoD refreshes all stacks and the cooldown is lower than the buff duration, so it's entirely possible to go for something different. The only reason to use the bracers is - like you said - to cover an area that is as big as possible.

    Quote from Skelos_bggo-next

I doubt blizzard would do this before the next expansion (minimum 3 more seasons). Otherwise the soft-cap would really solve much of the problems except the xp gear and leeching.

I have my doubts too, but I sincerely hope they quickly do something about it. With the upcoming patch they have a chance to react without screwing over any competition.

Otherwise non-season will turn completely obsolete with a vast majority of (semi-)casuals "competing" with each other, while the top 10 have their own battle miles ahead, and seasons turn even more into grinding paragon until you puke and push GR in the last 1-2 weeks.

posted a message on Paragon 10000!

While die-hard grinders deserve some benefit for it, 50% more main-stat is the wrong thing... In fact I expect people to hit P3000+ really soon with the amount of power-creep we're currently seeing. That is double the main-stat/damage a P1000 player has!

If this trend continues, non-season competition will be dead - which is a shame for all players that simply don't have the time to

    a) relevel every few months in seasons (which require Paragon grinding as well)

    b) continue grinding in non-season for hours each day.

I think they should rescale the whole system to fit the progressive curve we're seeing sub-750. This also means that all paragon levels need to be recalculated - just like when a season ends. Of course this leads to high-level players losing some their level advantage, but they are still significantly ahead - just not as much. And the amount of grinding required to catch up with them doesn't change at all.

Such a rescale would introduce a soft-cap for Paragon. It is still possible to level up, no matter how high you are - but after a certain point it's simply not feasibly anymore to just grind Paragons.

Btw, Bagstone, the official forums are only that bad when you look at "General Discussion". We WDs recently had an agenda to make players/devs aware of Carnevil lag -- you could see by the lack of reading comprehension and the kind of responses that one thread was posted in said "General Discussion"... I tend to stay away from that cesspool and rather post in class forums or PTR Feedback where the average IQ seems to be raised by a lot.

posted a message on Perdition in greater rifts?

Actually, Perdition is really fair as a WD, because you always have Spirit Walk when you need it.

    He has two tells:

One showing you that he's about to fire his shurikens -- GTFO and come back quickly afterwards, don't use Spirit Walk!

One showing you that he's about to teleport (arms raised and crossed) - Spirit Walk immediately.

For DHs it should work the same with smoke screen or good vault timing, no idea about the other classes how to avoid the teleport.

Or you could join an ingame community dedicated to (T6) rifts or specific to your class and ask friendly if anyone is okay with carrying you. Might get an invite quickly.

In 2.1 when the droprates for some items were still bad, I specifically did group runs with low-lvl WDs so I didn't have to trash all those nice drops that weren't an upgrade for me (SMK, etc).
