posted a message on Revitalizing Diablo III.

I actually hooked up my old PC yesterday so that I could jump on and fool around in the new season. I've been playing on console for the last two years and wanted to give PC a little love. It also gave me a reason to level again, I've recently started to lose interest with the game again on console because it's just grinding. So, now I thought I'd give my ideas... I think they are relatively untainted as far as D2 ideas are concerned as I never played it:

    1. There needs to be something more difficult. I play hardcore, and even then, I know my limits and just end up grinding until I'm ready to go up a GRift or two. There is no urgency. Things either seem too easy, or one-shotty. Maybe that is just hardcore perspective. There seems to be no consistent challenging difficulty.

    2. The gear is not exciting anymore. Nothing really seems legendary about legendary items. They are more like, useful items now. White/Blue/Yellow items aren't even gear to me, they're just crafting materials. So now I don't even get excited about legendary items. I miss that excitement. Sure, there are a few items I want still.. but.. meh?

    3. Someone mentioned it earlier in this topic.. something about further upgrading rifts. To maybe bless them with added effects. I love this idea. It might even solve my previous two issues. Path of Exile's map system (parts of it) could work really well. I love how end game on PoE actually includes finding maps, to do end game.. but in this regard, the effects on the maps would be great. Upgrade a rift to have higher Mfind/Gfind/Monster Density in exchange for additional monster health/damage or maybe even monsters with resistances?? Yeah. That could be really great.

    4. Maybe add a new -something- item that is extra rare. A diamond or purple quality drop laser beam shooting into the sky. Doesn't have to be gear. Could even be aesthetic, or something. Come on, isn't that a Blizzard thing? Pets/Outfits weird collections. Collections? There ya go. Drop some ultra rare items that you add to a collection. Complete the collection. Get a paragon point. +5 to a stat. A pet. Wings. Pat on the back. Something new to work towards.

    5. I recently did the uber bosses again now that the hellfire item is worth getting. The first time I did them, they were way too hard to risk on hardcore.. now they are stupid easy and every time I did it, I got the item. It just seems like a boring task now that you must do to get a decent item. I think they could use to be overhauled. Set back to a nasty difficulty or decreased drop rate. They don't invoke fear any longer.

Anyway. These items may be crap or way off base since I'm not the most experienced D3 player. I've only made it into GRift 48, only play hardcore and usually don't progress because I get bored grinding for slight upgrades. Then I'll get drunk with friends and throw it in some night and get addicted for another month. But I still love the game and just wish there was something more. This topic just got me a little excited, thank you.

posted a message on Why do *you* love Diablo?

Oh absolutely. I forgot about Borderlands, and you're right. That is the only game that had gear/loot similar, console wise. I'm a console guy, unfortunately, because my PC motherboard melted. I did enjoy Path of Exile, because of it's difficulty. They however went a tad bit overboard with gear stats it seemed. I just love Diablo. It may not be as raw, terrifying and difficult as D1 but it is still Diablo. The only thing I miss is actually being afraid to go deeper in a dungeon. Sure, it could've been because I was just a young kid playing D1, but going down a level and slowly peering around corners out of fear? Give me that back! Running for your life when Leorics horde of archers rain at you or the Butcher comes whirlwind cleavering his arm at you... yeah. That's the good fear.

Hardcore mode keeps that alive for me to some extent, just not the same kind of fear.

The quest to get loot. I kind of wish there was a larger reason for blue and yellow items. Now you don't even really pick them up or look at them. But it has always been the loot system for me. I've looked for years, and never have found a game that compares to the excitement of finding new items.

posted a message on Console - What to do?

Instead of opening a new thread I'll just continue here, since most don't seem to care about console.

With 2.4 out now, if anyone wants to play on PS4, add me: ares0226

Also, since I'm at work and bored.. Did anyone play a bit yesterday? Find anything/do anything cool? I did a few bounty maps. I love the new challenges and even found one I couldn't complete. You had to find a bound portal or something and open a chest. A whole bunch of borrowers came out and you had to kill 6. I could only get one! Though, I was on my crusader that I had just got to 70 and was trying to figure out how to set him up.

I did find a legendary I had never seen; the Corrupted Ashbringer? Very cool effect on it.

I'm sorry if it has been covered already, but does anyone know if it is available on PS4 yet? I'm excited to finally pick up the game again. It's been a long time.

edit: I apologize again... I see it has been. Thank you.

Awesome!! I guess I haven't really lost a HC character in a long time. The last one was a DH. I was home sick for a couple days and played a lot, got the DH to max level and found Cluckeye. Was so stupid but the weapon was good for me at the time. I think I was doing a Torment bounty for the first time on that character, got to Azmodan and my wife came home, gave me a kiss but stepped in the way just long enough for the fireball to hit me and die. Since then, I've probably played it too safe.

I'm not sure I could delete all my HC characters to start over. I will definitely be trashing the one max level barb I have on core and start over there with this patch though. I really can't wait.

That being said... this is kind of a weird question, but does anyone know of a good pre-built PC that can rock D3 without breaking the bank?

I'm looking forward to that set and Endless Walk set as well since I play the WD a lot! More damage reduction is nice in HC!

Also those communitiesI mentioned before.. I joined a few more and I keep getting some friend requests with those who play the game! It's pretty nice getting gifts in the mail system again. :-)

Yeah man! I only got mail from friends for like a week and I only had two friends. How sad is that? Haha..

It suppose be dungeons when you got the 6 pieces of the set on you. You go in and complete the tasks it needs. Then you can change the looks of the set I think.
That sounds amazing. Still not finding the patch notes. My google-fu is weak today.

Oh... I know I have those rings in my stash for sure. I never used them because of my need for RoRG but I always kept them. I'm so excited now. Guess it wouldn't hurt to start farming some stuff.

Thanks buddy. I didn't know there were such communities, I'll have to do some digging and find them. I'd love to play with someone that enjoys the game as much as I do. In the very least, I'll add you, I'm ares0226.

Can't tell ya all how much it means for your input to such a drab question. I wasn't sure the game was completely up to date with PC, but it sounds like it is. I found some ridiculous treasure goblins last night and lost my mind. I got so excited, I almost died trying to chase one down. So pumped now. The only thing that was mentioned here that I'm lost on still is the LoN thing. I'll have to look that up. Never heard of it.

edit: I just saw someone mention Set Dungeons. What? What is that, or does anyone have a link to where I can read about them? I don't know what that is but it sounds fun!!

Yeah, maybe it's the whole solo thing on console that's got me down. I'm scared to get flooded with hacked items and stuff in a public game, so I don't do it and none of my friends play any more. I've played (except for the small break for ESO) since release, but a lot of the time was split between PC and a few different console accounts because of the switch from PS3 to PS4. Yeah, I've got about 6 different copies of this game.

I felt kind of lost when I got back on since there were updates. It makes it kind of tough when I come here to see what is up with the game and it's all season talk. Trying to figure out what the new content is for PS4. Still, super happy, you guys got me all pumped to at least get back into it for a bit. Maybe level a core barbarian or something. It's probably my least played class next to wizard.

You know what, I didn't consider going back to core (played it when it originally came out on PC so I could sell stuff on AH to help buy beer in college) but now that you guys put it that way... A big draw to the game is leveling new characters, but I have no wish to make a duplicate character. I know I won't make one of each on core but starting a new one to push like you guys said sounds like it could get me hooked again. I'll just have to decide what character. I'm honestly getting fairly tired of how much I've used this teleport monk. Could use something a little more sword and board like.

Assuming we will get another patch on PS4, which would be killer, what is this LoN ring bonus you're talking about? I just started screwing around with the cube thing to extract legendary bonus'. I can't even think of what LoN means. That reminds me that I wanted to ask you guys, can you extract the Ring of Royal Grandeur bonus? That would be crazy..

Thanks so much for the replies. You may have actually sparked a new interest like I was hoping.

I actually didn't expect anyone to respond. Thank you.

    1. I may have talked it up a bit more than I should have. I can complete 32+ on my dashing strike monk. He kills things ridiculously fast and rarely even takes damage. Other characters, since I have each of them moderately geared T3 safe.. are scary to take into grifts. I guess just talking about it rekindles a bit of that fire.

    2. Modes? I've got each class, maybe I just haven't figured out how to play some of them well. I'm not big on researching builds and copying things people do. Most of the time, I just make a build around the gear I get. The set items make it pretty clear what skills to use.

    3. I wish. I spent so much on that computer and it was nothing but problems from the day I got it (2 months after I ordered it). Some day.
