posted a message on Paragon 10000!

The comparative power benefit of each paragon level does go down as paragon level goes up. Seriously. Even if the experience curve is perfectly flat you get LESS power going form level 1000-1001 than you do from 1001-1002

It's just that there are absolutely no other ways to get that .002% DPS once you reach a certain point.

Paragon gains are linear. Time investment is exponential. The entire system is designed SPECIFICALLY so that you have what is essentially a diminishing returns gain. The problem with GR leaderboards is that you either finished a rift or you didn't. Either you beta the stat check or you don't.

And how about we go and look at the actual time investiture difference between whatever arbitrary players we're comparing is between seasons? It does nothing to say players 1 and 60 have larger paragon gaps without also looking at their playtime gaps. Then we have to sit and look at how they reached that paragon (Rubies? Support builds? What are they ACTUALLY doing different). You need extensive and detailed information to make any REAL comparison between season leaderboards.

Personally I don't really give a crap. But at least use real statistics when you start talking about how broken the system is. We all know it's broken fortunately for us one of the big breaking mechanics is getting gutted in S4 in the form of XP gear.

Kanai's is significantly reducing the need to hold high priority lynchpin uniques for experimentation. Hopefully soon they give each character a single "personal" stash tab for holding on to set items. Admittedly with the overall changes to what gear you need to hold and which you don't the current number of tabs should be sufficient to maintain a full set of every set for all most players' characters.

not really, since you still need GG rolled items, so if you find the perfect rolled mara's kaleidascope, there is no way in hell you will cube it over a trash version and keep the GG version.

Think about it this way: You won't cube the Mara's but you can still run it on another character wit ha different GG amulet.

Item flexibility is increased and the need to compulsively horde 9 Furnaces "just in case" hyas been significantly reduced. Since you can just take *any* GG item and wear it in slot combo'd with whatever legend effect you want.

PTR does not pull your most up to date characters. In my experience it can pull your characters from about a week before the date you use the PTR copy. I'm not sure why but it happens.

Given what they did to the set as a whole a legendary affix probably isn't all that necessary. +7000% weapon damage every second is pretty sizeable especially combined with the addition of Kanai's and the rework to Vyr's.

I agree that the set needs some buffing, but the way you modified the set makes so that you are forced to play ( ground stomp, Earthquake, Threatening shout, Seismic slam) which will never EVER happen. At most you may go for 2 skills, but even that's a bit far fetched.

And also "Standing inside earthquake-affected ground reduces damage taken by 50%" that's far too good to be in the game if you ask me.

I also think it's stupid to give names to additional set pieces. They will never take your names and put them into the game. At least you could say these names and values are placeholders. Though as a placeholder you can easily put a "x" value instead.

On a personal level, I like the leaping aspect of the set. I see no reason to change it.

Name a single class set that has three or more variable abilities in their optimum build. The answer is that you can't. All classes have abilities across all builds that are an unwritten rule to have, such as laws, Magic weapon/armor, Companion, gargantuan, mantra, Warcry/battle rage. I like the idea of pushing for Threatening shout because it is never used, and is intended to take the place of an ability that is always used.

I will admit that I had a singular build in mind when constructing the set and associated legendaries, but I cannot stress enough that this is how sets work in the game currently.

I'm not a numbers guy. I don't work for blizz. I don't pretend to believe that I can theorycraft up perfectly balanced and fair numbers at all. These are all ballpark numbers intended to give the reader an idea of what my goals are.

Meh to the names. If by some stroke of ungodly luck that blizz not only reads this, but loves it enough to implement everything but say "fuck your names, i do what i want" and then go make their own - cool. Again, this is all ballparking for the sake of entertaining the idea that this set might not suck ass at some point in time.

On a professional level, the leaping aspect is accomplished for this class via the Rakor's build. Leapquake will never come back because it is entirely too similar to another 6-piece set on the same class. This build/set is entirely designed (in my mind) to be unique in gameplay to the class.

There are more than a few sets which leave a lot up to the player. Sure players end up finding perfect cookie cutter skill choices but nothing's stopping a Zunidoctor from not running gargantuan (note: IIRC currently gargy is inferior to doges due to body blocking), nothing stops a tal wizard from not using an armor (in fact many builds simply drop it altogether in favor of mobility). Yes there are plenty of skills that are "required" but items are changing and "best" options change with them. Locking a set into an excessively narrow skillset is only detrimental to the health of the set (and the game) in the long run.

And FYI: Leapquake should come back. It behaves way differently than raekor's.

    Quote from Xantrix777»

yeah focus and restraint are pretty much top tier of rings now, convention is slightly competing with it. They could delete que ring and make a shoulder piece, it will still have 7 pieces, thing is none of the other sets in the game, talking about 6 piece set (not dual ring and amulet sets) have ring pieces on them.

I still don't see how they are going to introduce the capability for us to make use of our other pets for dps build, including passive for dogs and gargs and 2 beatiful rings for them, and I still don't see any awesome shoulder for pets or the WD in general, so basically we have 2 rings which we cannot use at their full potential, the 3 passives for dogs and gargs are 80% wasted. Thanks for the answer, the thing is how can we make use of the dogs, gargs, taskers, passive and the 2 mojos again like in previous patches? do you have any idea on how to make melee pet build with dogs or gargs as the main damage dealer viable again, so we don't waste rings, passives and mojos? would love to read some ideas man

The problem with "deleting" pox and making is a shoulder is that then you either have legacy poxes floating around or you have this massive mess updating poxes from ring to shoulder slots.

Devs have stated (repeatedly) that they want other items to actually have competing slots options. Shoulders are on their list somewhere presumably. After they finish fleshing out belts I imagine. Additionally the lack of a shoulder piece in zuni means you can (presumably) fit in a 2p bonus from supporting sets. Kanai's is a good first step to getting Gargs and Dogs into play again. A downtune on F&R (or a change to what skills you can have on your bar as a zunidoctor) would get other rings into ring slots.

How about a shoulder slot item that buffs garg? Because seriously thats about all it would take.

Before this leg drop buff. There were q times but nothing like this. As said you be able to vendor items on ptr. Or auto have every passive unlocked..

If tehy'd push out an adventure mode feature "empty acts reset after X minutes" then it wouldn't be half a much of an issue.

They changed it to personal to start with because players complained. Now they change it to averages because of complaints. How about they just remove XP bonuses altogether? It only takes like 6 hours to get to 70 anyway and taht way NOBODY complains about anyone having an unfair bonus.

Shoulder slot has been shot down a half dozen times. For reaosns including but not limited to

    1) The set already has 7 pieces to wear. An 8th piece would necessitate deprecating the set or making a non-shoulder set piece legacy which has balance implications. Yes pox would have balance implications.

    2) Kanai is going to allow TMF or SMF in a build without equipping it.

    3) Dev's don't want every set using the same slots. They would rather add a competitive shoulder option (or actual real shoulder options in general)

If anything F&R need serious balance consideration. A 125% more damage bonus for slots with absolutely 0 competitive options is terrible.

You have to use passive Creeping death, if you dont have this you will get only damage from 12 second of duration DoT effects. With passive it is 30 40 seconds.

Very important is also critical chance 50%+ and damage 400%+

also gems bane of trapped, powerfull and toxin

That wouldn't cause him to see numbers 1/3 of non-crit numbers.

i would love to play my barb full dps, i find it a lot more enjoyable than my sader, but i have to run to my zdps sader otherwise i will be left behind on paragon levels .

Sure a zdps sader isn't useless, it brings a lot to the party, but it could do the same thing while actualy doin damage if we weren't forced to run full leech gear .

Example: support crusaders could very well run a condemn build with tons of CDR while using the same skills and being able to spam condemn and actualy do damage, but instead we have zero dps builds because the XP gear is too OP to not be used

How to solve this problem ? make Bonus XP additive in Greater Rift and stop forcing people to play boring builds .

You don't use supports because you're trying to level.
