posted a message on Farming Royal ring if granduer
What is the most efficient way to farm for the Royal Ring of Grandeur ?

I currently farm Act 1 in Public - Normal mode following the Junger rules as closely as I can. Although this should be fairly fast, I am finding it painfully slow because :

    1. Around 25% of the games I enter are bugged as in they cannot be completed for some reason e.g. Destroy the Jar of Souls which is missing. This is not a major issue after the Tuesday (US Server) reboot but it becomes one very quickly thereafter.

    2. Entering a game times-out 20% of the time requiring me to kill Diablo.III.exe and start again.

Is there a better way to do this avoiding some of the system issues ? a group/party I can join ?. A quick way to restart the game

I can generally clear any bounty in under a minute ( unless it’s a particularly demanding one or a huge map ) and would like to farm with other like minded folks.

posted a message on Wizard : Int vs CHD
    Hi all

I am fairly new to Diablo and would appreciate some advice as I am at a crossroads with my build and a bit confused. I have a stash full of gear but have settled for the build below which gives me a respectable sheet DPS and a lot of potential for higher damage ( 20+ million crit )

    Helm : Tal Rasha
    Chest : Tal Rasha
    Ammulet : Tal Rasha
    Shoulder : Aughilds
    Braces : Aughilds
    Gloves : Firebird
    Belt : Harrington Waistguard
    Pants : Firebirds
    Boots : Ice Climbers
Weapon : Thunderfury with +130% CHD
    Off-hand : Mirrorball
Rings : Ring of Royal Grandeur, Puzzle ring

The main item I am questioning is the gloves. I have a choice between gauntlets which give me more balanced CHC and CHD ( 55% and 407% ) respectively. I also have firebird talons which don’t give me CHD but do give me a 500int bonus from the 3 set bonus. On sheet DPS alone, option 2 looks better but during play, I notice the highest observable crit damage is lower than when using option 1. How significant is that 47% CHD difference ?
If Diablo had a training room with a punch bag for us to measure our dps against the clock, that would be great but as they don’t and the numbers I am seeing from poorly “controlled” fights vary too much, its impossible to compare one against the other accurately.
My gut feeling is option 1 is marginally better. I had tried to re-roll the 10% CHC on the Firebird talons to 50% CHD but it’s costing a fortune ( 700k a roll and increasing after having spent 23mil already. Now broke. )
    Option 1
    Wearing Gladiator Gauntlets ( +9% CC, + 47% CHD )
    Crit Chance : 55%
    Crit Damage : 407%
    Int : 8750
    Attack Speed : 1.92
    Sheet DPS : 978,000

    Option 2
Wearing Firebirds Talon ( +10% CC, no CHD, +500 Int bonus for wearing 2 pieces + ring of royal grandeur )
    Crit Chance : 56%
    Crit Damage : 360%
    Int : 9250
    Attack Speed : 1.92
DPS : 1,028,000 ( self calculated to include firebird bonus as sheet dps excludes it )

    Any advice welcome

posted a message on RNG in D3 is not true random
“You have 50% chance to get a usable item”

This will generally hold true if you equip the items you find the moment you find them regardless of how they compare to your existing items. Lets suppose over a period of 6 hours, you found swords A.B,C,D,E & F. If you equip each sword then it’s likely you will see a 50% chance of usability when going from one to the next.

However, if you play like me and only equip a better items, then this changes everything. Lets suppose again that you found 6 swords A.B,C,D,E & F.

Sword B is an almost perfect ( let’s say 95% ) roll of a Thunderfury, the chances of swords C, D, E and F being an improvement on it are extremely low.

This is natural selection at play.

If Blizzard were to make sure “we had 50% chance to get a usable item”, they would have to make sure every upgrade is controlled ( say +1 int/dex point ) from one item to the next otherwise weapon stats would go through the roof.
