It is indeed bannable I believe, to force a macro from a mouse onto Diablo 3 for gameplay advantage. That's why the game was designed without such a feature; otherwise you would have seen a macro feature in-game (such as the one in World of Warcraft).

...but no, it can't be detected. The "order" in which your buttons are pressed doesn't matter. Even if Blizzard wasted time and money (which they don't) on calculating how far apart every player's key strokes are and then found someone with an extremely repetetive pattern it would prove nothing. How are they gonna prove you weren't performing that pattern with your fingers on a keyboard? Besides, not all your clicks go through. You don't DS, EB, and FN at the same time which makes this even more irrelevant.

I use a Razer Naga Hex but still don't use macros on it though. Not because of bans or anything like that... but because I wanna control what I click. Sometimes I'll run inton reflect damage for example, and then I wanna only nova and DS without EB; or maybe I wanna just nova something specific. If I had a macro I wouldn't be able to do that. I admit I don't get much use out of its 6 buttons playing CM/WW except for maybe having shift and potion on my mouse; however it's actually pretty sweet to use for specs like Blizzard/Hydra. You don't even need the keyboard for some specs (ex: Archon).

Thank you for the awsome/ifnormative thread/post(s). This is a great read.

CM/WW is basically my main spec. I use two builds, one for farming and one for ubers. Tested the most recent uber gear and spec set-up last night against MP10 and only got gibbed once by Maghda (and thankfully quickly ressed to win). The rest we completely dominated with little to no trouble.

I'm running ~2.8 APS unbuffed. For ubers, I used the 20% Time Warp and Crystal Shell, but did not swap out Storm Armor. I think Storm Armor is just too sweet to swap out - and correct me if I'm wrong - but it does also help a bit with survivability and getting your opening attack string off (not as much as others, but still) in the form of the extra base Arcane Power. Diamond Shards on the other hand I sacrificed for Crystal Shell cause it's just such a huge boost in survivability, or at least to me it feels that way. So basically I think what I'm trying to say is Crystal Shell > Prismatic and we don't need both to survive MP10 (if well geared). That's why I always keep Storm Armor. My armor may be a bit low (only ~3470) but it wasn't a big problem at all, maybe cause I have decent LoH (~1500) with ~47k life and ~222k DPS.

Question: I use a 1.65 Chantodo and have 71% AS from gear. If I pull another 9% out of my ass, will I reach 3.0 breakpoint unbuffed? I'm trying to achieve a 3.0 speed + 20% bubble spec for MP10s. I used a few calculators and some told me I'd make it, and some gave me 2.98 or 2.99 (which made me wanna cry).

For normal farming I go MP6 and use Teleport (Safe Passage) instead of Slow Time. I also go full SNS with Shards included and have no survivability issues mostly. Teleport makes you a LOT faster and more efficient, makes you laugh at mobs running away instead of getting frustrated and can also save your butt mid-fight. The Safe Passage rune is nice when there's maybe a very strong mob pounding on you where you can teleport in place or very close, slightly adjusting your position while gaining the damage mitigatin at the same time.

Also, a tip for all you guys who said Reflect Damage gives you problems: Don't Explosive Blast. They'll take a little longer to die with just WW and novas, sure, but you'll still emerge victorious (without suicide bombing yoruself).

I love how the RMAH subject keeps popping up in every thread about game improvement... because no one could ever buy their way to the top in previous games such as Diablo 2, World of W... oh... wait... never mind.

You missed the point entirely. The RMAH keeps popping up because every time someone suggests a change that would improve the game, it comes down to this: it can't be implemented because of the RMAH - since it involves real money, people might sue, there'd be an outcry, legal issues, etc.
Any change to items - "oh, no, it will affect things people have paid real money for".
This is what you don't understand. The RMAH is ruining this game, not necessarily by what it's doing, but more because of what it won't allow to be done to the game.

You make a very good point actually. Come on though, you think that stops all/most ideas? I'm sure it does stop a lot; you're totally right. I think there's still plenty of ways to improve around it though,

On a more serious note: OP mentions multiple acts in same game. I've always thought that would be kick-ass. Probably close to impossible though, no? I've no experience or solid knowledge about how game/server hosting is in Diablo 3. Never researched it.

    Quote from Nodnarb

What are the odds of flipping a coin (50%) and hitting heads 7 times in a row...

Not that small at all, actually. Seriously - go ahead and grab a coin. Film it too; I will bet you 100,000,000 gold that if you flip a coin every 5 seconds for an hour - just one hour - before the hour ends (and possibly even way before) you WILL get a streak of 7 at least once (possibly multiple times, maybe even a higher streak).

You have the whole coin flip thing wrong. It's also ironic that you mention the coin flip, as it actually supports the opposing argument and not yours. I will explain. I have become an expert at this after having killed Baron Riverndare approximately 2,870,124,552 times.

In statistics, the coin flip example is used when explaining to someone their personal chances of triggering a random event by chance. In shorter, simpler, more Diablo oriented words: Your chance of triggering an x% drop.

The most important thing to understand this is to have a clear realization from the beginning that we are talking about two different chances, and not one. The first is naturally the drop chance (let's use 1% as an example), and the second chance is your personal odds of triggering the first. The drop chance will never change and will continue to be 1% forever. Your personal chances of triggering a 1% chance does change though. It starts small alongside the original drop chance, but with every attempt, your chances of successfully triggering a 1% drop grows. People who argue that your chance is the same every time don't have a good understanding of the difference between the drop rate and your chances of triggering a drop rate.

Here's where the coin example comes in. You say what is the chance of getting heads or tails on a coin flip? 50%. Can you flip a coin forever and only get heads? Technically... yes. Practically though, this is as near to impossible as you can get. This is because your chance of not getting the other side decreases with every flip.

Another example is if you set up a deck of cards every morning face down and attempt to draw the ace of spades. You only get one draw a day and shuffle every day. Odds here are 1/52, so you probably will not draw the correct card early on; however the more you continue to do this, the less probably it becomes for you not to draw the card. One day will come when you WILL draw the ace of spades, and so on withe everything else.

The smaller the original drop chance, the more attempts it requires. Yes people can get lucky or unlucky sometimes, but the old term "keep trying, you will find it!" also holds true.

When someone says they have a full-time job, kids or whatever so they spent money to catch up on playing, that is not called an excuse. It's called circumstances
    .
An excuse is something you give when you've done soemthing wrong.

When someone says: "Today instead of playing Diablo 3 I'm going to work. It's how I make money. Afterwards I'm going back home and I'm gonna buy this sweet weapon I've been eyeing for 100 euros", they don't need an excuse, their job is not an excuse and they've done/are not going to do anything wrong. They are unable to do it the long way (I stress the word unable), and are willing to pay for a shortcut to make up.

They don't have to "admit" it. The 100 euro weapon is just as legit as the one that took you a week to farm. In fact, it can be argued as even harder to get. All you had to do was sit there and farm the game you love. They had to find a job, earn a paycheck and then pay real money.

You see it as silly. Some don't. Some people think professional wrestling is silly. Some don't. Some think sports are silly. Some don't. Bottom line: If your spending principles prevent you from RMAH, good for you but you're neither "right" nor "wrong"; and no one has to "admit" anything to you as they too are not wrong either.

For the people blaming Blizzard entirely, please consider/think about the following:

Blizzard's decision to cash in on the real-money market was just that. A decision to attempt regulation and cash in; nothing more and nothing less. They did not create the real-money market by any means (not even close). The market has always been there and Blizzard has had little to no control of it. You have always been able to buy yourself to the top in any game so long as it had in-game currency and item trading. Seeing as there was no way to even come close to stopping it, combating it through banning whatever little number of accounts they managed to catch proved a waste of time and resources (thousands of people get away with buying WoW gold/boost runs/leveling every day, for example). To join in on it was only a natural and inevitable business decision on part of Diablo 3.

There was no 'money-making conspiracy' on part of Blizzard, it was a simple business 1 + 1 = 2. I can continue wasting time and money on futile attempts fighting a losing battle while it becomes rampant anyway, or I can try to regulate it and cash in. If you were in charge, which would you choose?

For the people blaming players and/or saying it's "stupid" to spend money on a game:

By those standards, almost everything the average human being spends on is "stupid". As an example, do you criticize everyone you know goes to McDonald's? Maybe you do; however chances are that most of you criticizing go to McDonald's yourselves. That's worse than spending money on a game. That "food" actually harms your health. I personally smoke for example. Isn't me spending money on cigarettes every day, worse than spending money on a game? I could think of so many of things people spend amounts on daily that dwarf what is spent on games, that are way worse than spending on games. The list would go on and on and keep getting worse as it goes (example: drugs & alcohol). This is why the bashing people get for buying stuff with money is very unreasonable.

If I went ahead and bought that $350 dollar Diablo statue, posted a picture of it and said "hey guys, look at my new statue... I saved up money to buy it cause it's so expensive but I finally have it! Looks so cool with my room! Isn't it neat? :D" I would probably get mostly positive and friendly responses. There will be an asshole or two saying "gz you wasted money on a toy harharharhar"; however others will still tell them to stop doing that and let people choose what they want to do with their money. If I posted a picture of something else though... let's say a 1200 DPS wand with int, good crit dmg and a socket then said "Hey guys! Look at this! I found it today for only $100! Couldn't help but show you what a catch this was... I'm gonna be farmin' much faster now!"... I would get torn apart by many more than just one or two guys.

Gaming is a hobby. When people are passionate enough and have the resources, they like to invest money in their hobbies. You could be spending on a stamp collection, engine upgrades for your awesome car, better fishing equipment or... wait for it... gear for you Diablo 3 character.

Six months before Diablo came out I started saving up a chunk of my salary for a new computer. I saved and saved then finally built a really cool PC with a great video card and three 27-inch screens in eyefinity. Whenever I play Diablo now or any other game, maybe a first-person shooter... am I officially cheating now? How is that different from buying a piece of gear?

Also, honestly ask yourself the question "who spends money on gear?". Sure, there's a few kids out there who aren't even 16 using daddy's credit card. Those are a minority amongst the demographic though. There's a few kids driving daddy's Lamborghini out there as well... not talking about them. What about those who work for their hard-earned money? They got it fair n' square. Do people have to quit their jobs and play 24/7 to excel and be considered "legit"? Most people can't do that. Then they get bashed if they buy anything for taking "the easy way" or a "shortcut". If you think working your ass off to get a paycheck which you then sacrifice some of to make up for lost game time that you couldn't play is the "easy road", you need to rethink your logic in this assertation just a bit.

Jaetch: Makes perfect sense; thank you for confirming my doubts. You've set me on the right path for now. I'm gonna take your advice and try to get vitality on the pieces you mentioned.

Loroese: You're probably right about Blood Magic especially if I start going to higher MPs. I've been running similar to you in terms of MP, I found MP2 to be quite efficient in farming exp using red gem, leoric's and hellfire. Lots of bonus exp and everything dies so quickly. Even when I put on real rings though and get a lot more DPS, higher MPs are nowhere as efficient as MP2. Think I need the HP boost then blood magic as you stated before venturing there. By the way, been following your CM thread since it started. Great stuff; I'm sure a lot of people appreciate your work.

Not even dinner first or anything... just pow.

Played a lot before patch and got good gear then quit for a while. Came back after, pimped my gear up more. Now I have a good Archon set up (200kish buffed without rings, 300kish with) to add to my CM stuff.

    Yay: http://eu.battle.net...732/hero/111026

Do not, however, allow this catchy profile to mislead or even deceive you. I'm actually not really THAT good at this game, I'm super lazy and showcase very little brain activity while playing; the latter two being caused mainly by me being high off my ass 24/7.

In other words, I play carelessly. I just farm as fast as I can without really paying much attention. Lately though reflect damage has been seriously attracting my attention and I wanted to ask you guys if you would kindly check out my profile and tell me if there's something wrong with it... or if I just need to L2P.

Whenever I encounter reflecters, if I beam and catch the entire pack in Archon beam, I rape myself. Not really a one-shot, sometimes I manage to teleport away with almost no HP but most of the time it's too much and I die. It doesn't make sense to me cause I have life steal (hell I've even tried it with life steal + LoH), decent resists and am playing low MP, no more than MP4 farming in Archon. I use CM for ubers MP7+ but that's another story. It also doesn't make sense cause I never had this problem up until a few weeks ago.

Is it my HP? It's the only thing I can point out as low. If so, whats my best bet at improving it?

Please feel free to critique in general too. Always helps.

    Thanks.

Maybe it's a little gear dependent, but it kicks ass. I farm my keys with it on MP7 with some deaths here and there... just cause I can't stand facerollig MP4-5 multiple times and still have no drop xD

    Okay I'm kidding...

Seriously though okay you don't have the exact gear for CM melee; however you are not far off. All you need is an amulet and a ring with high LoH and you're set. Also use a purple gem in helm if you keep dying.

Honestly I've tried so many variations of traditional blizz/hydra builds and I found them all to really suck even at DPS levels like 200k. Archon and CM just blow it out of the water.

Hi guys. I'm looking for people to play 1.0.5 with, specifically to tackle difficulties as hard as we can, farm infernal machines, etc. I've tested PTR; alone I can faceroll up to MP6 with no deaths, 7 is "eh", 8 and 9 are pretty challenging but not worth it and 10 is just ridiculous (this is not a complaint, I like this).

I just think it would be nice to get a group of like-minded geared players that make the HP scaling in multiplayer worth it. Would benefit in the gameplay itself as well as in gathering more infenral machines for more uber boss fights. I'm also down with giving contributing party members my drops if they need them, so long as they promise they'd do the same for me.

I had joined a clan recently but it seems I got in too late. Their vent is empty 100% of the time and their forums get like, one post a week. I'm not specifically looking to join a guild or clan; I don't mind doing so though if I can be in such a group within.

    This is my Wizard: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Forock-1732/hero/111026

I get up to 200k DPS fully buffed, and that's while wearing a Leoric's signet. I have another trifecta ring that bumps it even higher just in case. My resists along with intelligence and prismatic armor currently hover just above 1k (before inc. nerf). I've been playing Archon recently, but have no problems tanking as CM either or even classic blizzard/hydra if needed. I also roll with 24% run speed, so don't worry about me ever falling behind (especially if I'm in Archon).

P.S: I personally think voice communication such as skype or vent is essential.

    - Get a helm with crit and all resists on it. If you're really suffering put a purple gem in it too.
    - Get a belt with all resists on it
then: Use Prismaric Armor instead of Force Armor.

PS: Your wand is also hindering you, if you have the money, get one with int instead of strength, some APOC, and a socket.

posted a message on [Guide] Forever Archon Wizard build (gear dependent)

Hi guys. Just made this video guide for a spec I personally found to be extremely effective. Have a look, and if you will, please read the description and try to tell me if I went wrong anywhere or missed something so I may correct it.

    Video description as follows:

A video I made, explaining the "Forever Archon" build for Wizards on Diablo 3. The purpose of the build is to stay in Archon as long as possible, then getting Archon back almost immediately by utilizing melee-Wizard Critical Mass cooldown reductions. This yields amazing results solo or in a group farming/paragon leveling. Act 4 is used as an example in the video; however and while I and many others are fully capable of using this method without problems in Act 4, that was only as a testament to build effectiveness and not a recommendation to farm Act 4 repeatedly. As mentioned, I actually farm Act 3 much more than 4 because it's a lot easier. This build is gear dependent, but scales wonderfully with the right gear.

You need certain stat minimums for this build to be viable. Here is a list of those stats, and what pieces of gear commonly yield them:
    - 800+ resist all (fully buffed) [all except weapon]
    - 800+ life on hit (for easy time in melee if Archon isn't desired or on CD) [weapon, amulet, ring]
    - 30%+ critical hit chance [helm, gloves, bracers, amulet, rings, source]
    - 10 arcane power on crit (15 recommended) [helm, source, weapon]
    - 30k+ HP (can be done as low as 25k, but as much as 40k may be ideal) [all]

Fill in your DPS by acquiring as much spare attack speed and critical hit damage as you can. Remember, while attack speed doesn't up your DPS as much as crit damage; it does however help you heal through life on hit.

    More on gear:
I recommend getting a new Storm Crow wizard hat that has a socket. This is cause it has ~400 life on hit, as well as 9 or 10 arcane power on crit. This gives you a lot of freedom to play around with the rest of your gear. I also use the low-level legendary ring Leoric's Signet for an extra 30% exp boost; however this went unmentioned in the video since it's a bit off topic, as well as costly.

    My battle tag is Forock#1732

Okay then, I was wrong about Critical Mass being unaffected. Thank you for the explanation. This just makes it worse though. To literally half LoH and Critical Mass because of Legendaries, when they claim that otherwise they wouldn't have made the change is just absurd.

Also, I just went in and tried both acts 3 and 4 without any life on hit, as some people are claiming that you don't need it. Well.. I can safely tell you that either:

    1. You need it.
    or
    2. I really suck.
    or
    3. Those guys clearing Inferno on this build without LoH are Diablo Gods.

...or maybe 2 and 3 combined. I don't know. I just don't see going into act 4 with 0 LoH and relying on orbs to heal yourself to be viable.
