posted a message on 2.4.3 New items and meta

The stale meta really NEEDS to change.

    Examples:

    1) Barb's only use in meta currently is pulling support. Why is there not a valid DPS option. With a major patch, this should be a design focus.

    2) Witch Doctor currently is dependent upon the Sacred Harvester and Lakumba Bracers to maintain acceptable levels of Toughness for end game content. This is far too restrictive and needs to be changed. This would also open up more builds for players in solo and group play. Otherwise WD is almost in a very good place Jade (too squishy for groups), Firebats and Gargs all performing fairly well.

    3) Crusader is completely missing from the end game meta. The already inferior support abilities were nerfed to the ground. Both multiple DPS roles and a valid support role should be developed.

We need a lot more use of the the Legacy of Nightmares set and thus we need more ability enhancing legendary items. LON is the best thing Diablo has going for it because it provides room for an amazing level of creativity if you have the tools to experiment with.

    Give us those tools Blizzard!

posted a message on How to survive as a Witch Doctor?

Wouldn't a Zuni build with zombie dogs and Dagger of Darts build be pretty solid for HC WD? Lots of dmg reduction from pets that has pretty much 100% uptime and ranged damage. I haven't tested the DPS, but I assume no one plays it because it doesn't do competitive dmg any longer.

posted a message on Why all the hype about D2HD?

The only thing Diablo needs is a dark, moody, highly replayable 4th version.

The WoW-like art direction and bland replayability of Diablo 3 simply needs to die at this point. Too many poor decisions have been made with Diablo 3 to bother with further expansions.

Get a modern engine in play, get non-pay2win in-game transactions in to fund long-term development, allow us to trade, and give us greater flexibility to build or characters in creative yet viable ways, and build this best ARPG to date please, Blizzard.

Basically, if you want equal representation for all, expect to work on partnering professionally. Quin is ahead of the curve there for all ARPG gamers.

posted a message on Barbarian Wastes set dungeon mastery - How to

If you find it hard to locate 10 enemies, just remake the game and get a better mob layout.

You should need to do fairly minimal rounding up of mobs. I might need to make 1-3 loops around a room with gangway up to clump them before i Gangway in to Wrenching Smash and Rend.

posted a message on Barbarian Wastes set dungeon mastery - How to

After waaaaaay too many attempts I finally completed the the Barbarian Wastes Set Dungeon Mastery. I learned a lot over my attempts and did a lot of reading and watching of other's attempts.

Here are my tips and conclusions:

    1) General Tips and Strategy

Go FULL Damage and cool down reduction as much as you can without sacrificing damage. I had 1.4 million sheet dmg unbuffed, 50% CC, 550 CHD, 45% CDR, and 33% increased physical.

DO NOT overuse Whirlwind. It will kill mobs you don't want to kill instead of using them Rends groups. Only engage with WW if you want to wipe the room. You do not want to use WW as a mobility skill unless you want to wipe the room. *important*

Play aggressively (I cannot emphasize this enough). Do not hesitate or take too much time setting up 10 mob rends. Zoom around the map, kill small packs/singles instantly with WW and Gangway up to protect yourself. Use Gangway on large packs to setup an optimized Wrenching Smash, then Rend and immediately WW to kill off the mobs or Gangway to try to double dip another 10-Rend from the room.

Gangway can be used both to enter a large pack safely OR push mobs into the "center" to clump them. Since a mob cannot damage you while being knocked back and you can keep Gangway up nearly 100% of the time, this is much safer than Furious Charge. If you are a charging master... go for it though. I tried both and instantly had improved results with Gangway.

Watch for mobs your WW doesn't kill. I failed twice with one mob up because WW barely didn't kill it and I didn't notice.

Also, develop a route and stick with it. You will start to notice patterns with mob positioning and quantities per attempt. This will help.

    2) Skills
Rend - Ravage (for larger AOE)
WW - physical rune of your choice, but I stayed with Blood Funnel
    Ground Stomp - Wrenching Smash
    War Cry - Veteran's Warning
    WotB - Insanity
Sprint - Gangway (this makes avoiding physical dmg MUCH easier as it's nearly impossible to be hit if its up)

    3) Passives
Unforgiving, Animosity, Weapon Master, Boon of Bul-Kathos. The theme is max resource regen and max uptime of WotB.

    4) Gear
I wore Chilank's Chain, Reapers Wraps, CDR+CHC+CHD rings, and Bul-Kathos's set. I cubed Furnace (to help take down elites faster), Leoric's Crown (for more CDR), and Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac for more effective CDR.

    5) Gems

Full rubies in armor, Diamond in helm. LvL 71 Bane of the Trapped, LvL63 Bane of the Powerful, LvL 70 Bane of the Stricken. Again the idea was to take down the "elites" ASAP as waller is one of the few things that can most commonly screw up a run.

Credit goes to Empyrian for this video detailing the use of Gangway.

Lastly, this is very frustrating for many people. Don't give up if you want wings. If you don't care about cosmetics or challenges, don't waste your time on this. It will eat up your time!

Blizzard really made the Wastes set dungeon "fun" by seemingly increasing the mobs attack speed since PTR. It's pretty easy to get hit now.

    What an evil objective.

Why would you not announce something? Think about it for a moment. The most probable cause for silence is that there is uncertainty, and so instead of saying anything they are waiting for something to be confirmed before making a statement.

Blizzard is utterly failing to monetize the power of in-game purchases in Diablo 3 and its hurting the game's development.

There is a flaw in your thought process. More monetizing does not mean more resources with a bigger team and more content in a shorter time period. That might be the case for little indie games. That's not a given for Blizzard.
I clearly did not read my entire post. I also stated Blizzard corporate could be holding this back for reasons of profitability (or otherwise). They may simply not care.
That said, if you invest the resources into developing tech and deploying it, you also generally plan to support and build upon it. That just equates to more growth and revenue if done correctly (which we all know Blizzard CAN do). If they are willing to do it [in North America] is another matter entirely.
Furthermore, as someone who works in both entertainment and consumer driven businesses that are competitive, I know that driving revenue (and profits), and using those resources to attract or retain a client (or fan base) is one of the most essential best practices of any game, product, or brand that wishes to survive.
Diablo 3 had it easy after Diablo 2 and Blizzard really seems to be blowing it with these easy to resolve little nagging issues that are pissing players off.
When I'm seeing entire 100+ member clans quit the game, there is something wrong.

Barbs and Monks have very little to look forward to in this patch and the same has been true in previous patches for other classes. Why does
this mistake keep happening? It turns players away and demotivates the community.

Barb is the class that has done highest grift out of all classes on PTR . Chainer cleared lvl 86. So how does barb have very liitle to look forward ? In terms of what ? We got reworked raekor and EQ. Whats do other classes have so much better ?
Barb 2.4 is a pretty minor rehashing or the same ole same. And yes, we get to keep our support spot in the team meta for now. Woohoo. I don't really care about this. I care about playing fun builds.
Yes, there is a promising LoN WW build that may make some major waves in a week or two, but its still just WW.
The change to the Earth set is just simply not what a lot of people were hoping for when compared with the improvements elsewhere across all classes. Raekor is still Raekor with a bit better single target dmg, but still Raekor.
    Now, take Crusader in contrast.
The Invoker set is a completely new concept to D3 and incredibly fun and refreshing to play. Probably the best designed set that Blizzard has made thus far. This is the fun and exciting expanding that should come with a patch.
    Additionally...
Blessed Shield massively buffed. Phalanx is massively buffed. Heavens Fury is massively buffed. All by non-set items. This opens up new build opportunities. Crusaders also go a new weapon+shield item set which is really game changing for the class.
I don't see the same level of advancement for Barb. We still have a lot of worthless mighty weapons for example.
You can see this quite clearly just by looking at the number of lines in the post per class here: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/19941042/patch-240-ptr-patch-notes-12-14-2015#classitems

I'm actually not excited for this patch at all and instead, once again pretty disappointed. What I am consistently not seeing is significant improvements that make me and many of my friends want to keep playing Diablo 3.

Blizzard is utterly failing to monetize the power of in-game purchases in Diablo 3 and its hurting the game's development.

    • We still have a shameful inventory management model.
    • We still cannot search for items, while the items we must retain to play all of these new set based builds continues to grow and grow. Extremely frustrating if you play multiple classes.
    • 1 new stash tab will help, but it's quite silly to need to play 4 new seasons (1.5 years?) for 4 more stash tabs.
    • What about the dozens of hours many players have already lost dealing with inadequate inventory and character slots in seasons 1 - 4?
    • Why can't we just buy new stash tabs or character slots and help fund the game's development at the same time? It makes no sense. Quality of life In D3 is basically diminishing with each season right now.

Barbs and Monks have very little to look forward to in this patch and the same has been true in previous patches for other classes. Why does
this mistake keep happening? It turns players away and demotivates the community.

I guess if you want to play a WD, Demon Hunter, or Crusader, you're probably in better shape for Season 5 and beyond.

I do empathize with the current D3 team in that they inherited a bit of a mess. I can only hope that the lack of progress is due to the development of Diablo 4 instead.

Yea I'm right there with ya, so sick of working hard to be the best. I should totally just be the best already.

I do believe the point is that being the best should be determined by skill, not the amount of time one spends creating games.

posted a message on Best Death's Breath Farming Build I've Tested

    Hi guys,

Here is the absolute best Death's Breath's farming build I've found for T10 across all classes--Static Generator with Sage's and Goldwrap.

    http://www.diablofans.com/builds/62209-the-best-deaths-breath-farming-build

It sacrifices the least of any of the Monk, Barb, and WD builds I've tried this season, has enough toughness and damage to do T10 effectively, and work's well in groups or solo play.

I have been getting up to 900 DB's per hour running this which is a huge help in testing mid-season builds on four classes. Give it a go! Feedback and improvements are welcomed if you see any. Balance out that Crit, IAS, and CDR and gogogo!
