Good article, and good things being discussed here. Overall, I feel that the 95% hit chance is the right way to go. I always felt like even though my characters were geared well and had a great skill build, sometimes the attack rating was not what I had hoped, and was the crippling factor in my overall build - no matter how well I played with them. I like to see that our gear, skills, traits, and prowess will make us succeed, and not the ridiculous mathematic equations. +1 for the Diablo dev team.
And yea....
Lot's of beta talk going on around here...

Feb 7, 2011AcidReign posted a message on BlizzCon 2011Well, you gotta think: What's left of Diablo III to really announce and show off at a BlizzCon? All classes are announced and most of the systems have been announced. So honestly, if the beta is not started before this year's BlizzCon, it's going to be a very disappointing event for Diablo fans. Unless you like going to watch the same 2 panels that were on for the last two years.Posted in: News

Feb 7, 2011AcidReign posted a message on The Way You Look TonightPlus, who knows how long it will take to reach those final sets? Sure, in Diablo II it was easy to snag an Enigma and a HotO, but that's because the game is broken and runes are everywhere. A lot of the runewords in D2 would take you forever to obtain if everyone was legit.Posted in: News
In Diablo III, where cheating and duping are eliminated (hopefully), we can expect to see some struggle when it comes to getting all the gear to make you as godly as possible, and on top of that, there will probably be more items introduced via patches that will keep things interesting and different.
I would love to see D3 play out like this: Every day it seems like I'm changing to a better piece of armor - knowing that I'm slowly crawling up the ladder of perfection. -
Feb 3, 2011AcidReign posted a message on The Way You Look TonightLet's face it, we've all been addicted to Diablo II. And Diablo III is way more customizable in terms of character development, a.k.a. the core of the game. Now take that, and add a more tactical and thought-provoking combat system, new resource systems, better means of crafting, better vendors, dedicated PvP, and other new systems, Diablo III is shaping up to be one Hell of a game.Posted in: News
Pun intended. -
Feb 3, 2011AcidReign posted a message on The Way You Look TonightYou gotta remember that another important part about builds are the new Core Attributes. So some builds may take certain items just to try to increase those certain attributes to a high number.Posted in: News

Makes me grin. Hopefully this Diablo game will be regularly patched and paid attention to. -

Oh well. I guess 700 is enough -
Sep 18, 2010AcidReign posted a message on How Soon is Soon™ - Part III have a sneaky suspicion that the Diablo III beta will be available late this year.Posted in: News
They are working on skill runes, items, and polishing acts. Those are late-development stages! This game is farther in development than we think...
They are probably just waiting until the battle.net 2.0 programming is stable. -
Jul 17, 2010AcidReign posted a message on Real ID Q&AWell they are also working with Runestones, which was another thing they were going to work on late in development, or at least until they had the skills and their desired effects. And I can see them skipping most of the item creation until beta, patching in hundreds (maybe thousands?) of items every patch during the beta.Posted in: News
Sounds like they are chugging along very nicely, though. -
Jul 8, 2010AcidReign posted a message on The Few, The Proud, The UniqueI hope the high tiers of armor in D3 don't have all the flashy lights and effects that WoW armors have. Sure they are cool in WoW, but the world of Diablo is a much different place. I even feel that the fire/ice/lightning effects on items is a little much.Posted in: News

Diablo II hit shelves at the end of June 2000, and I happened to walk by it in Target one day while I was shopping. I immediately recognized the dark, evil box art and grabbed it. I opened the front tab to see all the badass characters. I was getting this game, and I was making a Paladin, god dammit! I raced home, installed it, and made my Paladin, adequately named Alex (my own name).
The first guitar strums in the Rogue Encampment immediately set the mood. I browsed around town and found my way into the Blood Moor. It lived up to it's name as I spilled zombie and quill rat blood everywhere. Sweet! As I progressed through the game, I was becoming addicted. Constantly updating my gear. But something was missing. Why didn't I have any sweet spells yet?
Until I searched around and found the skill tree. 12 skill and 55 stat points left to distribute. I guess I WAS missing something! I felt incredibly dumb, but I got the skills I wanted (HORRIBLE build compared to whats acceptable today). But now knowing what was to be done, I felt ten times stronger, and anxious to see what else the game had to offer! I got to Act 2 after a crazy battle with Andariel.
Time progressed, and so did my character. Until I hit a brick wall known as Duriel. The first time I was dropped into that pit I was mortified. I was slain countless times, and often spent all my gold on Town Portal scrolls. Defeat after defeat, I decided I needed to really gear up for this guy. Unbelievably, I leveled to 30 in Act 2. Each time I ran through the tombs, I'd stop at the pit entrance and tease myself by sitting by it and telling myself I couldn't do it. One day, I got the courage and I went it. Down Duriel went, without a challenge. It was surprising to me, and I was greatly relieved. Act 3 was a cakewalk, and Act 4 the same. Diablo was a strong opponent, but due to my overleveling in Act 2, I was able to take him down without a problem.
After that, it's just a blur of all the good times I had with my friends. MF runs, getting scammed on trades, dueling, leaching on "bloody runs", rushing, crafting powerful runewords, trading, the whole nine yards. All my memories of D2 are great, and I hope D3 can match it.

First off, let me remind you that planning for this binge will come closer to release, so my answer is subject to change. My grocery list will go through a long polishing phase, one that I am confident will optimize my feasting euphoria. Here is the basic list:
Fluids:
- Coca Cola classic
- Arizona Raspberry Tea
- Gatorade: Fierce Grape
- Full Throttle: Citrus
- Water (for when I really need it)
Accessible Snacks:
- Chips (Jalapeno cheddar, Spicy Nacho Doritos, Ruffles Cheddar Sour Cream, Fritos Scoops with salsa)
- Sunflower seeds: Giants brand, Dill Pickle and BBQ (eat them together, and you got a McRib)
- Cheezits/Cheese Nips
- Handi-Snax
- Fruit snacks (gotta get your daily serving of fruit, amirite?)
- Popcorn, buttery as hell
- Beef jerky - for when I'm playing my Barb
Snacks that will have to be made by my slave/girlfriend:
- Kraft Mac&Cheese
- Rice-a-Roni
- Chicken nuggets
- Cardboard pizzas
- Sandwiches - turkey, ham, Miracle Whip, onion, tomato, lettuce, and dijon. Oh and I forgot, Bacon.
Realistically, I'd probably have a hard time downing what I have listed, but nevertheless, I will try with a little help from my green.
Oh my god... This is going to be SO good!

They certainly did! I would think this patch will be fairly significant and they want to test it with more people. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is the case. It would be another step towards release.
But the question is, how many more steps are left?
We may never know.

I would like to see what they come up with to fill the void. Something tells me it's got to be about the items or character stats. Maybe stat points are coming back and they are trying to figure out how to balance them so you don't break your character.

When she's tired, sleeping, or "not in the mood", I bounce around from Skyrim to Torchlight.
But I'm ready to drop both of them when I get my hands on the beta (which I hope I can get ahold of soon) or when the game is released.

Plus I doubt the art team would know anymore about the release date and share it than the CM's.

I broke down and decided to enter contest #2. Only because it's my favorite character class, the Dubya-Dee!
