Its....not revolutionary....in the slightest... When a new prettier FPS comes out, people will drop Halo and go to the new prettier FPS. We all know it. Golden Eye was revolutionary. Wolfenstein 3D was revolutionary. Halo was....generic... Good stupid fun, but generic none-the-less.
Maybe if they took some time to come up with original ideas...then cool...but as it is, it's a generic stupid-fun shooter.
Not saying the people playing are stupid, or the game as stupid, but using the word "stupid" as a descriptive word for the word "fun".

Dec 9, 2009LinkX posted a message on #7 According to DestructoidPosted in: NewsQuote from "Don_guillotine" »Well the sole thing it brought was that after being thrown around on different platforms, at the end of the day it was given console-friendly controls, which was the thing that made it so popular.
Then what makes it better then other console-friendly fps's, like Golden Eye? It was just another game that just happened to stick as far as I can personally see. Yea, it was fun, but it had no story, it didn't do anything different, and it didnt add anything. At least Half Life 2 brought the idea of using physics as a weapon, even if the game was bleh. -
Dec 9, 2009LinkX posted a message on #7 According to DestructoidPosted in: NewsQuote from "Don_guillotine" »Frankly, I've just played the first one, and while Halo certainly was somewhere between "ok" and "good", it's far from revolutionary, except that somebody for the first time in history understood that there's no point in trying to make a PC shooter for consoles, but you need to make a console shooter for consoles. Hell, the story is its weakest link.
Actualy Halo was originally a Mac RTS, then it changed into a Mac FPS, then it changed into a PC FPS, then it was ported to the Xbox.
And Halo was a fantasy shooter, bringing nothing new to the table, not even for this decade. -

Diablo II hits #7 in top 50 games of the decade from Destructoid.
That means that your favorite game wont be on it if it was made before 2000... -

1280x800 to 800x600 is not a pleasant downgrade... -
Nov 6, 2009LinkX posted a message on Diablo II Patch 1.13- More Delays, Hopefully a Brighter FutureI would personally prefer a patch that works on all computers all the time rather then a patch that works on some computers or some of the time.Posted in: News
As for those modders, they don't spend countless hours game play testing on multiple machines like Blizzard no doubt has to.
That being said, give me my damned 1.13!!
Edit: Wait, the resolution is being changed in this next patch? -
Nov 3, 2009LinkX posted a message on Griefing, Health Orb Mechanics and More with Jay WilsonI think this pay-for-extra-stuff part of the thread is a missread of Seth's post. So to clarify, the marketplace will not be connected to Diablo 3.Posted in: News
Quote from "Seth" »Again, the quote said that the marketplace would NOT be crossing over to Diablo III  And since there isn't trading in StarCraft, I don't think it would have been a trading system, it was probably like the XBox Live Marketplace where you can buy extra maps and stuff for fees.
There will be no marketplace in Diablo 3. Buying maps may be in Starcraft 2, as it has happened in other RTS games with other companies, but Diablo 3 will have nothing to do with this. -

Mar 29, 2009LinkX posted a message on NEW Unannounced Blizzard GameAnd I highly doubt that it's Warcraft 4, not yet at least. The RTS team is working on SC2.Posted in: News
Then again, it's rumored that SC2 is almost finished and approaching beta, meaning it's past alpha, meaning that the team may very well be shifting gears towards WC4...
I'd love to hear WC4..... -
Mar 25, 2009LinkX posted a message on Blizzard Writing Contest Announced!Yea, we would get in trouble. Just as if we published Rise of the Horde, it's the same thing. Though, I don't see why we couldn't make a thread for inserts, to give people a taste of what you wrote. Sites like Amazon and the like do it all the time...Posted in: News

Lol, I know Warcraft lore alot better then Diablo and Starcraft lore. (Actually, Warcraft's what got me into Blizzard, though Starcraft and Diablo are what got me into online gaming...)

I actually am not impressed with the expansion. I pop in from time to time and people were talking about terraria so I was interested. Lol.
I guess I was just never that big in going into games and asking if anybody wanted to trade 50,000 soj for a p-torch. Nor was I a fan of going to jsp.
The Auction House facilitated all that, and in a far better, safer, easier, and less hectic manner. But it's an idea from WoW, so clearly it's evil
Any way, I assume that JSP is prepping for the influx for Diablo 3 trading, assuming they are not already ready for it.
Best I can tell, in Minecraft you go from punching trees to mining diamonds to make diamond armor and then to going to a fancy planet where you fight and kill a dragon. The end.
And with Minecraft controls, it's super fucking difficult. (You are fighting the controls more then you are fighting the dragon in the fight...)

I was getting into Minecraft, thought Terraria was just some rip off.
Boy was I wrong.

...Only to find out there are zero games (Literally, I couldn't find any games) going on...
Sure, Torchlight and Torchlight 2 are fun, but I want to kill Diablo. :-(
I hope D4 comes out soon. And doesn't suck.
Edit: Is the server down? Sorry, I know I play at strange times. :-(

Anyway, like I say, it is my opinion. If it was not a Blizzard game, I would of let all the problems go, because for a non-Blizzard game, in my opinion, it is a very good game. But I've been playing Blizzard games for so long that I expect more from them. Companies like Blizzard, Nintendo, and Valve are simply capable of going above and beyond what the average company can do. That's why I expect more from them, and when they do not live up to their potential, like any good fan should do, I call them out on it.
Now does this mean that your opinion that D3 is über is wrong? Of course not. Though saying that one person's opinion is provably right and another is provably wrong is, in essence, going against the very definition of "opinion".
And finally, I fucking hate winter. Go away cold weather, you piss me off. :-(

Forgive me, but is that how you view me? Or were you referencing Bleu or somebody else?
It doesn't matter too terribly much, just curious.

A] Please read a post before you comment. "D3 was, in my opinion, a collosal flop of a game." Note: In my opinion. You can have the opinion that it's the greatest thing since sex, and that's your opinion. Mine is that it's a flop. Why? Because I believe Blizzard can do better. But, again, that's my opinion.
B] Didn't know that about Titan. Thank you for the information.
C] I don't recognize you, either.

I don't recognize you. Name change, perhaps?
Anyway, I'd like to see Diablo 4, personally. D3 was, in my opinion, a collosal flop of a game. It would be great if it was from a generic company, but compared to D2 or even D1 it was lack luster. (Again, I know I am beating the same old drum, but I have to point out that I also give Blizzard slack, the guys that did Diablo in Blizzard, also known as Condor or Blizzard North, are gone, so I don't expect D1 or D2 quality, but I expect better then D3.)
Additinally, I hope for some info on Titan...
Edit: Somebody better notice the work me and Maka did in Terraria...
