I don't see how D3 can come out before SC2, which is due in prolly mid-late 09?
I think it will be worth the wait.
As for the lack of "dark" atmosphere in the game footage, keep in mind that D3 takes place 20 years after D2, so maybe the world has gone back to normal since then, and now the evil is creeping back into the lands.
The atmosphere looks great in my opinion, and the game play more than makes up for how the game looks.
To me graphics/visual is 30% important, gameplay is 70% important.
Actually I think the Seigebreaker bit the Barbarians ENTIRE TORSO off, you can see his legs on the ground, and his entrails dangling from the Seigebreakers mouth.
I can't wait for the feeling of watching the installation progress bar for D3. I also love the smell of a new PC game box, I bet this one will smell great!

The mystery "solar system" rune looks VERY similar to the mini maps in blizzards old game Rock n' Roll racing. The map had little circles representing the cars, and the track was represented by a series of lines. If the track were circular, then the mini map would look just like the rune in the splash teaser.

That Doesn't look like a penguin to me. Penguins don't have talons. That thing has wicked talons. Oddly, the talons are on the "wings" of the evil bird creature. I still don't get it. Hopefully all will be settled.
Guys I have something new!!!! EBgames put up diablo 3 as a game to buy, but they just took it down I got a screenshot of it. Also you are fighting for heaven against tyrael's army in the mortal world. DIABLO 3 IS COMING!!!
Well... I was gonna say that the new rune looks like an "atom", but that wouldn't make sense because there would be 1 electron in the inner shell with 2 in the outer, which doesn't happen.

Also, the tundra pics don't look diablo related to me at all... it's purple for cryin' out loud. It looks more like this drawing of a walking walrus from WOTLK
