You could just buy the battle chest, which includes D2, D2LOD, D1, and a strategy guide for $39.95 (used to be $19.95, but it got raised for some reason.)

You're right, if I wanted to buy it today. I bought both on the day of release. I was actually on vacation in another state when D2 originally released, and played on my dads laptop all I could.

First off, none of the former major players from Blizzard North are responsible for Mythos. They oversee the entire operations of FSS or have more roles related to Hellgate:london. Mythos is lead by Travis Baltree who created FATE, which was a great free game created mostly by Travis. Mythos compares to the diablo series, only in being in the same genre. Hack and slash button smash. Obviously, some of the ideas from Diablo are used, but that can be said for any hack and slash created after Diablo. There's no discrediting Diablo for being a pioneer series. Mythos is a great idea that has moved from net code test created by a very small team, to what it is now which is a fairly diverse game with increased staff. The game hasn't been in serious developement for that long, remember it was to be a net code test for Hellgate:London. If I had to compare Diablo 2 at it's release time to Mythos, which is still in beta, I would say Diablo actually had a story, but was behind it's time in graphics. Mythos currently lacks a story line, but has graphics relative to it's time. I am looking forward to the next Diablo installment, but Mythos is far from a failure. I will never have to invest a dime in the game if I choose to, but I had to shell out $50 for Diablo 2, and another $50 for the expansion.

Not to be a "debbie downer" but I think the hype is bigger than what will truely be revealed. Most everyone who has ties to Blizzard, or has been involved in Diablo since it's creation are not really excited about this count down. Most are saying it will be a domain transfer. Is this really that exciting? Yeah, I guess if you really need to know that Blizzard is working on Diablo 3. Most everyone is aware of it already. I would also watch out for an "April's fools" joke for May 1. The registrar information for this domain is linked to someone who is known for pulling internet pranks time and time again.

It would have to be one hell of a patch to make me go back through that game again. As much as I have enjoyed it for 9 years, I can't kill another monster with a different color pallet again.

One other reason I believe it to be something not as big as it is being made out to be, is there is no mention of this outside of this network. Therefor, it is network related, and probably means this site will be taken over. The one thing else I beleive it to be would be a trailer of some sort, possibly a teaser.

It is stated that Blizzard knows of it. There is no official announcement on www.blizzard.com about any sort of countdown or reference to May 1. Would they really give exclusive rights to a fansite to announce something big? I don't believe they would. I know Blizzard and the people who own this site are close, but I just don't see it being anything other than this domain being moved to Blizzard's registrar and this site being renamed.

So, this announcement has nothing to do with Blizzard, but something to do with Diablo3.com. I don't see why it would generate any excitement.

I worked at HP in Loveland Colorado.

That's like government conspiracy kind of a secret. Haha. I guess we will find out soon enough. The worst part isn't waiting to find out that they are working on it, it's waiting for it to be released after you know they are working on it.

I used to work for HP. Of course that was before Carley was axed, and why I "used" to work there. Haha

I would imagine Blizzard wouldn't keep secret projects out in the open for anyone to see. But I am surprised something hasn't leaked. A programmer telling a friend with a big mouth, or a maintenance guy who happened to see something. IT amazes me that it can be kept a secret, especially in the day and age of the internet. I mean, we all know they are working on it, but the fact that there isn't even the slightest leak is crazy to imagine.

As far as the OP, I don't know why it came to me, but I figured there had to be some information divulged in the whole "red tape" thing. Figured it would make it out with that.

seems odd that they would only have to mention that something is being worked on. IF I was acquiring a company, I would want to know what it was and what kind of impact it would have in the future. How do they know they're not throwing all their eggs into one basket, with something like SC Ghost? (this is just an example)

Just something that I thought of, wouldn't there have to be some sort of disclosure available to stock owners of said organizations about what properties either have or are currently working on to place a value on each of these organizations? I am no business man, but I would think there would have to have been some mention of a title that is currently in the works by Blizzard to stock owners. Thoughts?

Mythos is a very good game. D2 like, with more of a fantasy world. The current beta build is not very big though. Essentially 2 acts of D2. The game plays a bit like WoW. The next 6 months of this game will be great. The developement has changed dramatically, all for the good.

Why do I always get my hopes up when I see a thread titled, "New information on Diablo 3"?

You would think I would have learnt by now... :(

I bet with the first real bit of information made available about Diablo 3, you'll hear it elsewhere first. Not saying this place isn't a good source, but it will be all over the net in a matter of seconds.
