Totally off topic, but I'm glad you added that connotation to the bottom of your sig gif. I was sort of disturbed when I saw that from time to time browsing the forums here, thought it was alive and being tortured. :(

I'm just trying to think a little outside the box here. Using Wrathful is only really effective if you have a lot of items that rolled with health globe healing bonuses. Renewal is a flat amount of healing, only dependent on how often you block. So essentially the two passives are both stat dependent but for different stats. And I'm also thinking that most of the time, the higher the torment, the higher the mob density, meaning more blocks and thus more healing. So idk, I like Renewal better. I just kind of wish my Jekangbord would've rolled with at least 22% block chance instead of the measly 16% it rolled with. =\ That Defender of Westmarch I had that had 30% block chance healed me constantly when I was using Renewal.

First I wouldn't recommend a Helm of Rule. BlockChance is one of the weakest stats for a Blessed Shield build, as only the first shield gains profit from BlockChance. For more about stacking BlockChance see here : http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablo-iii-class-forums/crusader-the-church-of-zakarum/86698-the-house-of-flying-shields-support-hybrid-top-end?comment=27
Your Andarieal has pretty nice rolls. As you are aiming for a high CDR build to have almost perma Akarat's Champ I wouldn't suggest dropping the socket. Holy damage is very strong with this build and the socket will give you the ability to get 12,5% CDR which is the highest CDR part you can get (except 6pc Akkhans) in one part. Trying to get Akarat's to near perma a socket in your head can and will be very important and will free stats on other gear parts(eg ring/Amu). Idk if your weapon is already rerolled(would be insane if not). If not wait till patch and then try to get a high Holy Damage roll on it. Use Holy Cause and gain a big DPs boost and a nice healing boost(instead of hold your ground).

Nothing else that comes to my mind so far. Nice gear and give me dat gaunlets :P last piece missing for my 6pc XD
Thanks for your response. I was looking at the helms last night since I actually had a Helm of Rule plan drop. I'm still going to make one even if only for the sake of getting the transmog. My other considerations going into comparing it to my Andy's was the fact that I'd possibly "double-dip" with the added block chance giving both offensive and defensive benefit for one stat slot. Was trying to determine which healing passive would be more effective between Wrathful and Renewal if I obtained more block chance through Helm of Rule. I used to use Renewal when I had a 30% block chance nearly-perfectly-rolled Defender of Westmarch shield before my Jekangbord dropped, and it healed me for a shit load.

As for the mechanics of Blessed Shield, I'm about 90% certain that a blue confirmed that Blessed Shield does take into account total block chance, not just your shield's block chance. I'll have to search for it and if/when I find it, I'll edit my post and add it here.

I've been trying to decide if I should start stacking CDR now or wait until the other two Akkhan pieces drop(we all know how long that could take). The alternative idea was to try and change anything with +attack speed into resource cost reduction for now, and then once I got the 6pc set bonus, switch that resource cost reduction to CDR.

One last thing. Isn't +Elemental damage on weapons still bugged? As well as the Long Arm of the Law passive?

EDIT: So I couldn't find the blue post that I thought I saw, but I did find a different thread discussing it, and basically found out that though all of your total block chance is taken into account, it is only so for the first hit, and not all the additional bounces afterward. So while it would be a decent single-target damage increase, and more survivability, it would not be the best choice for higher AoE damage or total damage from Blessed Shield. Link here:

This build is very similar to what I've been running. Currently I have 3 pieces of Akkhan (4 with RoRG) and can't wait to find 2 more to make the switch. Also been looking for the Helm of Rule plan in the meantime since those class set pieces are so damn rare. I have recently dropped Bombardment in favor of Laws of Valor since I'm built for all holy damage and the reduced resource cost rune of LoV gave me more shields to throw and do more damage than the Bombardment(s) would have. I have The Mortal Drama but even the double impacts weren't impressive yet.

Glad to see someone else being sensible and not just defaulting to boring ass Gyrfalcon's build.

I'm usually the guy giving people advice about Blessed Shield builds. But reading this thread sparked my curiosity about what other who run a similar build think of how I'm doing it. Here's my armory:

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/D3C1MAT10N-1834/hero/43504807

I've been trying to get rid of some of the attack speed that I have, as it's really not important to this type of build. I've been thinking lately about forging it into cooldown reduction so that once I get 6pc Akkhan's (currently I have 3, 4 w/RROG) I can keep Akarat's Champion up most of the time. Also considering dropping the socket in my helm because I have almost 500k life. I can steamroll T3, comfortably do T4, and T5 if I play well and am careful.

Really hoping to get a Helm of Rule plan soon, and some luck with a better roll on my RROG (have one in bags with less than stellar rolls)

    Any thoughts?

What I've been doing (yeah it still takes a little longer but not as painful) is switching one of my skills to Laws of Valor - Unstoppable Force. Combined with Akarat's Champion - Rally, it allows many more shields to go out per full wrath pool. It also helps that I have 3 piece (4 with grandeur ring) Akkhan set so it makes them free for however long that lasts.

posted a message on New to D3ROS and Crusader class need help thanks
Hey there! I can definitely help you out in getting your crusader to be the primary nuke of your rift group and more :) For credibility, see my armory at:

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/D3C1MAT10N-1834/hero/43504807

I played Barb in original D3 and since ROS came out, I went with Crusader and would not play anything else as a "main" character. I'll cut to the chase so you can get straight into owning everything.

First, since you have the amazing Jekangbord shield, you should definitely try out Blessed Shield in place of where you have Blessed Hammer right now. You won't want to use anything else afterward, I promise. As far as other stats go, I think one of the coolest and most convenient things about this build is its AoE effectiveness on large packs (especially elite packs) and the fact that it doesn't need a whole lot of attack speed.

Your primary stats and priorty should be roughly like this (It's how I gear myself, anyway.): +Holy Skill damage > Strength > Crit Chance/Crit Damage (try to keep roughly 1% crit chance for every 10% crit damage), > Attack Speed (until you obtain Reaper's Wraps, see below), > Vitality > Resistance to All Elements > pretty much anything else you want after this point.

The reason I mentioned Reaper's Wraps is because it is a crafted plan that drops off Malthael, as well as the special legendary crafting material to make them. You can farm this pretty quickly by just killing Malthael til you get the drops, and the legendary affix on them is "Health globes restore (25%-30%) of your primary resource." The reason these are so awesome is because in the higher difficulties/torment levels, health globes drop more often, meaning more wrath to spam more shields. Combine these bracers with some resource cost reduction stats, and you'll almost never have to worry about wrath management.

You can copy my build or try things on your own, whichever you find more fun. With my current gear, I have 1,073,000+ character sheet damage, and can shred elite packs down in T3 in about 5 seconds.

There's a whole lot more I could go into right here but I'll check back and see if you post any questions, and I'll answer. :) Have fun!

I'm gonna necro this thread because alas, RoS is live and still, character sheet dps information is completely wrong. Any chance this calculator has been updated for RoS? Or if there is something like it somewhere?

Yeah, I really wish they'd rework the formula they use for character sheet dps. It makes the whole gearing game a complete headache and too confusing for most. It's misleading and people are probably sharding legendaries that are actually upgrades.

posted a message on I don't like Blessed Hammer - What other AoE (not cone) choice do we have?
    Quote from Riemu2k3

I also had the problem - I just despite blessed hammer. Just doesn't work for me.

Three things I have figured out work quite well:

    a) blessed shield (either as wrath dumper or with the shield/flail combo to make it cost no wrath, you can use heavens fury with fires of heaven rune as wrath dump here) (you can either use holy or fire damage here)

    B) sweeping attack

    c) heavens fury (with fires of heaven rune)

    a) and c) work quite well if you stack holy damage. If you dont want to take the spam rune on heavens fury - you can only go blessed shield imo.

Fist of heavens also doesnt cut it for me.
What shield and flail combo are you referring to that makes Blessed Shield cost no wrath?

posted a message on Blessed Shield
I got this shield at level 53 when leveling and it was awesome. Mine added 5 targets and at the time, I was actually using Slash / Sweep Attack for the mouse button attacks. When I got this shield, it got me curious, so I switched to Blessed Shield with Combust rune. I noticed I was clearing things a LOT faster with it, and a nice bonus (for those of us with compulsive habits of breaking every single destructible object) was that it would basically break every object in a room with one toss. Get some +Blessed Shield damage affixes on gear and it really starts owning things.

TL:DR, it's well worth it once you get this shield. I'm searching for it now at 70.
