I've been asked by several people to do this so I may as well just go ahead and stream (got a payed account and everything, so now I'm obliged to stream regularly anyways. Maybe I'll do a voice over soon and go through the process on the go.)

Alright guys, I've spent the last few days thinking about the colour palette. Now, I think it may be great to have the scarf/hoodie red, because not only will it make the character pop, but it will also give the piece much more contrast. Looking over the concept, it's a little bit dull to have a brown/black hood. I thought it would be nice to follow the style of the in-game character from the beta (which I spent way too many hours playing months ago, only to get my character wiped in a big patch -ugh!- :).)
This is the direction I would like to try. I'm going to keep this red scarf/hoodie. I'll make a leather variation at a later stage anyways. So don't worry if this discomforts you! This is a work in progress too, it will change to look more photorealistic within the next few updates.)
As always, I hope you like it! More armor pieces coming within the next day or two (hopefully) :). Stay tuned.

I have been making progress. I was asked to do an interview by a news member of the website a while back. It has yet to be published on the webpage, and I didn't want to spoil the update which I included in it, in advance.
Unfortunately its been a bit quiet since I submitted my response. I wanted the update to be a surprise :). Hopefully it is put up soon...
I promise that this thread will live on until the completion of the project.

I just came across this thread... and it's awesome.
I've never worked with any 3D modeling before, so I don't have a clue about it, but I can tell it takes a ton of time.
I think it's great you're posting the progress for us to see, and getting feedback. I've never thought to do that before while working on a piece of art. It's great you are learning new things while doing this too, and it's coming together quite nicely.
I'm going to follow this thread now and can't wait to see more of it coming together!

Worked on the crossbow, I gathered a million references! I will probably post another update later tonight as I will be adding a proper arrow and all the intricate details to the 'basemesh' which I've created here:

I know I said that I was going to post an update on the hood. Truth is I found the hood to be something too small to update, so I'll show this glove I just finished, to replace the bare hands.
Good news is that I've basically only got the quiver/crossbows left and then the optional cloak before I start to paint the textures :). I will be painting the high polygon model first, and then make a low polygon version later so that I don't bore you guys to death (that's one reason.)
The quiver will be based on the male concept image variant, but the crossbows I want to pay a homage to Diablo I / Diablo II with. There are a few 'famous' crossbows that come to mind. Nothing too flashy though :).

Why would you want to make a lower poly version?

I wasn't going to first, but I would like to make a game-engine version of the character. The high polygon data will be projected onto the low polygon geometry to give the illusion that it is the high polygon version. It usually doesn't look just as nice geometry-wise but with some skill 90% accuracy can be attained. I think I'll probably land on 70-80% though, which is still good.

Running out of health and mana?
Question, how come in video games and pretty much anything animated, there is a tremendous amount of detail in the models but the shadows are super pixilated? I've noticed it one the reflections on the bottle here but its also quite noticeable when i'm trying to take a picture in gran turismo 5 and a blocky shadow or reflections destroy the realism of the photo. Just curious if you know the answer while i'm thinking about it, love the progress being made.
The 3d objects are in most cases built outside of a game engine. It is in most cases (in the example you bring up this is the case) the game engine which is the culprit guilty of creating 'pixelated' shadows. Shadows are resource intensive on your computer, so having shadows on many objects at once can be a real life-drainer for a computer.
That's why many developers like to sacrifice some finer graphics and output the resources they get from that into another part of the game engine. It's like a giant scale where you can jumble things around but the scale needs to be balanced, otherwise the computer catches on fire.

Changes to the breasts are not actual. I can go through some of my thought process behind this decision:
The way the breast is tied to the 'pectoralis majoris' (that's the upper chest muscle which ties into the deltoideus (that's your shoulder/upper arm muscle)can offer a wide variety of change for women. You can see it in the above image. From my observations, this streamlined design can deviate the way said 'cleavage' looks.
This can also be observed in the following image i found on Google:
I trust the design as of now and believe that it is sufficiently accurate for my art piece. A deeper insight (I actually thought about this...) is that she needs to be able to use a normal bow well.
Amazons used to cut off one of their right/left breast (depending on if they were right/left handed) if their breasts were a bit above average size, so that it'd be easier for them to shoot. Having average sized breasts in many cases dismissed this issue.
Thus it's another argument I suppose, if one wants to become picky! We're mostly talking aesthetics here however, so this argument is quickly nullified. Enough with history though, here is that quick update I was talking about,
I made the scarf more detailed and am working on the 'hoodie', which I will probably post an update on tonight!
I want to add hair, but it's not practical in the process which I'm currently working with. Guess I'll have to wait!

I'm sure on Normal and Nightmare any build will work if used correctly. I'm currently in the A2 Nightmare, running with the super offensive Desintegrate-based build (http://us.battle.net...XgjS!YXb!aZaZaZ) - no problems so far. With 1600+ damage self-buffed (lvl 28-33 gear) and +20% damage in the warped time bubble everything gets melted down faster than I start taking any damage. I only died twice in NM so far and only because I got reckless.Quote from okrane
The problem of the wizard is that her Surv. is cooldown based. She also has too many spells that require her to be stationary, in a game where elites are lightning fast and hit like trucks.
If you try a build with Arcane Orb / Magic Missile or Sphere and 4 defensive other spells you'll have very little issues.
Otherwise, if you try to be creative and use disintegrate, ray of frost, arcane torrent or any other gimmicks you will get your ass handed to you unless you overgear the mobs.
