At the end it was not the hero, technically, that destroyed the World Stone. Baal already messed with it before anyone could get to him, so in order to save the world, Tyrael destroyed it.
Another good storyline for the game would be if Tyrael turned to the dark side (lol) and resurrected the three primevals (Mephisto, Diablo, Baal), to mess up the world. So they need a new hero to kill Mephisto, Baal, Diablo, And Tyrael the Dark Angel.
They need to add Tal Rasha into the storyline, all he did was help summon the portal to hell and vanished.
And at the end of D2 Deckard Cain was still alive
