posted a message on HC Barbs - What are people doing?
If you want to jump into T4+ you're going to need better gear than what you have. The problem is that a lot of people got spoiled by SoH being ridiculously overpowered.

You'd probably be better off with lightning for T1-2, especially since you're playing hardcore and your survivability is better in the gear you have for that playstyle.

posted a message on I think my game is broken
    Quote from cmjdk

Well, even though I say I'm convinced I'm cursed or bugged, it doesn't really mean that believe it even though I can't help feeling something might be up. I'm sure it's just bad rng, but at the same time you also have to consider that since the game has smart loot influencing drops, it's not that out there to think that the system can also bug or 'get stuck in a loop' or whatever you want to call it, decreasing your drop rates too. I'm not saying it is so, but it could happen. I doubt a new IP would fix anything though, and even if it could, that's not an option to me as I have static IP.

I'm btw not farming inefficiently. I farm mostly T1, doing rifts in full parties and have 1.3m sheet dps + 36% to fireskills, using a fire build. So I know it's not that. Even if it were, that doesn't explain how a streamer can get 3-5 drops in 1 rift, while I consistently go anywhere between 5-10 before seeing a drop. Rng can do that, but having bad rng for a week or two? That seem excessive imo. Or I'm just the unluckiest Diablo 3 player. Who knows. :)
I've been running T1 rifts on one of my other characters recently and I'm averaging 1 legendary every 3 rifts or so. Which isn't bad considering that rifts don't take all that long. And that's doing it inefficiently, I pretty much always play solo. Sometimes bad luck happens, and sometimes I have days like one day last week where I found 17~ legendaries in just a couple hours, much to the annoyance of my clanmates.

posted a message on SOH = Trash
Hi I've been playing a Barbarian since day one, and I will not be spamming any forums, participating in any protests or signing any petitions.

We were broken, and now we're where we are supposed to be. You are not supposed to be in able to farm high torment in bad gear, and that's what Shard of Hate allowed us to do. If your ability to do content hinges on ONE ITEM and the fixing of that item results in your being unable to do that content, something was wrong with both your class/spec and that item.

Shard of hate NEEDED a fix, and it got one. Nobody that ever had one, played with someone that had one, or watched someone with one, should be surprised at the fix. It's not trash, it's still a very strong item. WW spec is not trash. Your favorite streamers and Barbarian heroes who are now whining, for whom my respect is rapidly dwindling, they were WWing before they had Shards. The only thing that Shard did for them was allow them to do content far above their gear level, and now they have to learn how to play the class at the level it was intended again instead of getting carried by an obviously broken item.

The nerf is significant, but it doesn't make the item trash. If anything, wait a week or two and see if any more builds for Barbarians surface once the popular players stop sulking, experiment on your own, and truly if you find that we're not on even footing with other classes, then come up with buff suggestions. If the class is broken, ask for buffs for the class, provide useful feedback. Whining, petitioning, and protesting for something that was blatantly overpowered and bad for the health of the game in general is not constructive.

I'm still whirling, I'm still using SoH, and I'm playing the game at a level appropriate for my gear. It's a little strange turning the torment setting down a little, but it was equally strange for one item to boost me to being able to faceroll T6. Being able to kill a T6 boss with roughly as much effort as it takes the average person to kill a T1 champ pack is fun and all, but it's obviously not intended, and there is no point crying over it.

posted a message on Doesn't it bother you that there will be no OP legendaries?
It's not a matter of it being overpowered. If an item is strong that's fine, if an item is blatantly broken then it becomes a problem. SoH was broken, hilariously broken. It allowed people to do things far beyond their gear level. One item should not be that powerful.

Despite the whines from people that I otherwise respect like Alkaizer, SoH will continue to be a strong item, it just won't be broken. If it was THE item for your class/build it's still going to be powerful and it's still going to be right up near the top. Just now you'll have options. Previously if your choice was a badly rolled SoH vs a perfectly rolled anything else, SoH would still win. Now you have choices. The fix is a good thing, for you and for the game as a whole. I like it, I had other items that I wanted to try but couldn't justify because SoH was so broken, now it's still a downgrade to try those items, but it's not a horrifically game altering downgrade because SoH will no longer be the most blatantly overpowered thing in the history of ARPGs.

And if you've never used a SoH and you think that this fix is just taking a strong item and making it weak, you're wrong. When I got a SoH I was able to jump in and obliterate things that I had no business fighting with my gear level at the time, because SoH was broken.

    Quote from Setsoru

Fixing two rather major bugs is not the same as nerfing. And before you chime in with "semantics" let me clarify just what semantics actually means: "The wordsemanticsitself denotes a range of ideas -- from the popular to the highly technical. It is often used in ordinary language for denoting a problem of understanding that comes down to word selection orconnotation." Bug fix & nerf can in no way be confused.

Also, without the bugs in place, who can say if it will be good as compared to Odyn Son or TF, Just have to wait and see. Not bugged is not the same as being bad.
You know that and I know that, but for a lot of people if something isn't the best, even if the difference is tiny, it's "terrible" and should be sharded. If it's in line with other items that they've fixed, it will still likely be a fine weapon, still one of the better weapons. Right now it's amazingly broken, and that's pretty obvious for anyone who actually has one or has played with someone that has one. We haven't even seen how much of an impact the fix has yet and people are already declaring the item trash.

posted a message on Lazy artwork by Blizzard
Okay so you don't like it, that doesn't mean it's lazy. What did you expect exactly? There's very little space there to work with. I thought it was already overcrowded. The silver borders were the best looking ones IMO.

They're keeping with the theme they had going, which was a simple addition at each unlock. If you look at all of the borders from the first ones all the way up to the new ones, you'll see that there are very subtle additions to each with the most prominent change usually being a color change. They're already crowded, how much shit do you want crammed into that one little space?

As I clearly wrote in my first post.
What is happening is that Blizz lets you run into an area and then spawns the quest behind you. AFTER you ran trough the area. Clearly just to make the grind more time consuming.
I've been on the internet for 17 years, and the quoted chunk of this post is easily on my list of Top-10 most amusing conspiracy theories.
No, it doesn't work that way. In fact you haven't given any examples that show that it MIGHT work that way. I've run so many bounties and I've seen nothing to indicate that it works that way. Some of the Act 2 bounties can be frustrating because you'll run around in a huge area for 10~ minutes before the game tells you "Nope, the objective is back near where you started!" *shrug* It happens. That doesn't mean that it wasn't there when I started and that they added it in after and no reason to think that this is the case.

I have to say that the set drops can be quite annoying. I've gotten quite a few Blackthorne pieces, thankfully two of them were actually useful. Then yesterday I actually got a really nice set glove upgrade. It had an unfortunate secondary stat of reduced level requirement, but other than that it was quite nice.

posted a message on Loot Issues?
My only complaint is that the majority of my legendaries that I find are rings. Other than that, it seems fine. I'm getting a pretty good mix of items. I've found a couple set items, I've found several weapons, I think the only thing I haven't found yet is legendary shoulders.

    Quote from Xenocow

Vanilla sold 11 Million in the same Time Ros sold 2,7 Million.

And from the 2,7 Million lots of people are gone again due to the terrible droprates.
Expansions never sell as well as the base game. Also the first week sales for D3 were 6 million, not 11. Considering that it's impossible to get 100% of gamers, or even close to 100% of gamers, that buy a base game to buy it's expansion and considering the rough reception that the base game received, it's damn impressive.

Anyone quitting RoS over the "terrible droprates" obviously never played the base game. The drop rates are VASTLY improved, and the itemization is much better.

I'm surprised to see a bunch of positive posts. There's usually at least that one guy that has to be a negative Nancy =)

But yeah, I'm really happy with RoS. It has some minor issues that need polishing, but they seem to be on top of it. Communicating, making changes, the community team forwarding our concerns to the devs, etc. All good stuff. :)

I play on T3, but I'd still open my bags on T6 if it wasn't for this particular piece of information.

Of course it was a bug, but it was a bug most people suspected existed. Big deal? Nope. But I really dislike misinformation.
The hotfix specifies gold and gems, not armor/weapons/etc so it likely didn't apply to those things anyway.

How long until blizzard executes people for low intelligence? I mean this has been plaguing the community for awhile now... I hope they fix it soon. It really decreases my enjoyment for games; therefore they should do it.
half their staff would be axed then... lol
This is the kind of post that always gets me. The bizarre idea that Blizzard staff is somehow less knowledgeable about their products or less intelligent than the community. I know it's the internet and so every forum poster has a PhD, plays in the NFL, has seventeen cars in their garage and owns 15 mansions and two yachts, but really ... There's a reason why the people at Blizzard have their jobs. They're good at them. Whether you agree with their decisions or not, they're still good at their jobs. That's why they have their jobs and not one of the other billion hungry mouths that applied for their job.

It's cute, and I see it a lot of the time in the StarCraft community especially, people who are completely convinced that they can balance the game better than Blizzard can, that somehow Blizzard has survived all this time and made so many games that are considered Classics while at the same time being staffed entirely by simpletons.

but when the fourms are flooded with angry customers. the buisness owner must listen to them and not spit on them.
The customer is most certainly NOT always right. I think anyone who has ever been on both sides of that arrangement will agree with that.

What the forums are flooded with doesn't matter in the slightest. Lets just talk about classic Blizzard games for a moment. (D2/LoD, SC/BW, WarCraft 2/3/Frozen Throne/etc) If you were to take a look at those forums at the peak of the game's popularity, you'd see forums flooded with angry complaining customers as well. If you go to the League, Dota 2, WildStar, ESO, etc forums (Just listing really popular games off the top of my head.) you know what you'll find? Lots of extremely angry and unsatisfied people. Angry/Unsatisfied people post, happy/satisfied people post a lot less often.

posted a message on Torment 6 Hardcore Malthael Down.
    Congrats!

And the people whining about enrage, really? Enrage serves no useful purpose in a game like this. It's not like bosses have a 100% chance of dropping something amazing, and even for a first/reset Malth kill where you get a guaranteed legendary it doesn't matter whether you do it on T1 or T6 or you could even do it on NORMAL if you're not picky. What's an enrage timer going to accomplish? What's it going to add to the fight?

This fight having an enrage timer would just make it annoying for creative and determined people like the OP. And dying to an enrage on Hardcore would probably be enough to make most sane people just stop playing. "Oh shit something has gone wrong this fight, I've compensated and stabilized but ah crap arbitrary enrage timer and now my HC character is dead."

Diablo didn't have an enrage timer either did she? When I did my Inferno clear I know that Ghom and Belial had very noticeable enrages, but not Diablo. Of course this was shortly after the game was released and Diablo was extremely buggy. When I came back for 2.0 I was glad to see that they had finally fixed her so that she didn't randomly go AFK and stand there doing nothing for half of the fight.
