Do you have problems with survivability? If yes, get LS weapon, if no, you can probably get 1) witching hour or 2) zuni boots+zuni ring.
I don't think the vile ward is a rip off. You may be able to get a few millions more but not much more.
I can farm MP1 pretty easy. Id like to get that up so I can go for hellfire ring. I can do MP2, but I die often on elites. Man, witching hours are expensive. Are they worth it?
Should I invest in crafting gems and selling them? Can you turn a profit that way?

Yes, Witching Hour is worth it, especially for you since you don't have much EHP on your belt anyway, so you don't have to worry about potentially losing that. They are by far the top dps belt around, and used by pretty much everyone when they can afford it.
No you shouldn't invest in crafting gems to sell. It's really not easy, if even possible, to turn much of a profit. I think you make more money just selling the gems you pick up.
Also, I definitely recommend a LS weapon. While LS won't magically let you tackle higher MP than you're geared for, it's much much more difficult to tackle those difficulties without a LS weapon, even with high survivability stats. RD mobs are just sooo annoying at higher MP. Personally I'd get a LS weapon first, then worry about witching hour or other purchases later. I find LS on my weapon makes farming much easier and I don't even want to try farming without one. It also lets you slack a little on EHP and still be able to survive against most elites without much trouble.
Edit: Or replace your gloves or your boots. FYI, Fire Walkers are just eye candy boots. The only time they're truly justifiable are when used by fire resist monks.
The biggest problem is that people think farming >MP1 is all about DPS and a LS weapon.
It's not, you need to increase your survivability - running 500 AR wont get anyone very far in MP2+ unless you are stacking 200k+ unbuffed.
In your case 290 AR - you will get destroyed at MP2, your health pool is too low also.
I don't know where you get 290, I have close to 500, and then with my armor close to 700. The problem with life steal is that all weapons with life steal seam to have much lower dps, although I might be recalling searching for LS and APoC.
How much should I spend on a weapon?
EDIT -- ah, it does say 290 on the link, but for some reason in game its around 500. Prolly due to intelligence, right?

And what would you recommend, specifically, for gloves and or boots? I've looked at Zumi's boots, but I don't like that they all add to poison damage, which I don't do.
What about Inna's pants? They give movement and 2 slots...

The affix on Zuni boots for poison damage adds directly to your char sheet dps and does not depend on using poison skills. That's why they're used in high dps builds. The amount of damage is based on how much of your weapon damage is physical damage, thus using a black weapon is recommended to maximize the dps gains from it. Triumvirate works in the same way which is why all top dps wizards use that.

I believe you, but I believe the affix language is "add *to* poison damage", not "add poison damage to".
Ill check again next time I log on.
According to your spreadsheet, i have 180k EHP. Should that be enough for MP2?
In the spreadsheet, it is showing my armor total as 3617, when the web link shows it as 5000+, so something is off. Also, I can never get the damage to match exactly.
Edit: Or replace your gloves or your boots. FYI, Fire Walkers are just eye candy boots. The only time they're truly justifiable are when used by fire resist monks.
Hm... I could say that about many legendaries. The reason why Fire Walkers can be better than rare boots are that they can roll very high int (and the damage reduction is also quite nice as a bonus). However, if they have less than 200 int, you might as well get cheaper rare boots, so in that case I agree.
But I wouldn't be too hard on Fire Walkers as such, I think many legendaries are overpriced, Vile Ward with low main stat (below 200) being a perfect example. I sold Vile Ward for 20m+ that had absolutely same stats as rare shoulders which didn't go for more than 5-10m.

how do I get a hellfire ring? seems unattainable given the MP required...
Get some friends to help you out - farm keys with them, and definitely don't even try opening the portals on your own, but always in a group of 4. There are also people offering MP10 ubers (for a small fee if they provide keys, or for free if you bring the key).
Uber fights can be kind of turned into "easy mode" by switching your build to CMWW, just to let you know that some people will throw this suggestion at you - but you'll need some APoC and LoH on your gear to make that work (Storm Crow helm, wand with APoC, IAS and LoH would be the cheapest way by sacrificing some DPS I guess).

The wording on those affixes is definitely bad. They really should read "Adds x% damage as [ELEMENTAL]", but that's still not 100% right because it only applies to the physical portion of your gear damage (not skill damage, just gear).
180k EHP is not good for MP2. I'd recommend at least 220-240k. With 180k I'd recommend keeping at MP0-1.
If you're having issues with my spreadsheet not adding up right, let me know. The dps should be exact to within 1-2 decimals. As far as the armor being different, make sure you have the same buffs activated in the spreadsheet as you have in game when you look at your armor. When looking at the battle.net profile, all buffs are included, which means GC, Energy Armor, and/or Archon. It's really best to compare the spreadsheet with your character in game.

Ah, so I have triumvarite, which has % bonuses of 5,6,5 for various energy types. I originally thought this meant, if you do x% type damage, add the specified percent from the triumvarite to just that part of the damage. However, based on our zuni discussion, I think it nows means I do an extra 5+6+5=16% damage (off my black damage). So when I add that value in 18D on the spreadsheet, I'm much closer. Is that correct?

Crap, I haven't friended anyone. What's a "small fee"?
A couple of months ago I saw some people offering this for something like 1 million gold or even less. Considered how much time it will take *you* to farm the 3 keys, it's fair; people with high DPS have lots and lots of keys.
Maybe you can just find other people on forums who have a free spot - and maybe you have some money left to gear up as CMWW, because CMWW really simplifies uber fights and people might be happy to have you join them in that case.
thanx for all the advice people. I ended up buying a belt and zunis boots/ring. My goal was survivability, and I went from ~160 EHP to 270 EHP, and added a good 13k to boot. Plus I have moneys left over. I didnt get the witching hour because getting a good one was a really expensive proposition. Hopefully now I can do MP 2, and possibly 3, for better MF/GF and exp.
