So after 1.0.4 and spending the gold I had saved up on new legendary upgrades I switched to the Archon spec and the farming is now incredibly efficient, so I decided to make a couple of videos showing the build off.
Here's the first video of me going through Crater 1:
There's a couple of elite packs along the way, and at 3:25 I kill two at once:
Here's a second video of the Keep Depths 1 and 2 that doesn't go as smoothly:
In this one I die twice, once to a fallen maniac and once (stupidly) to a reflect damage pack before I realized it had reflect. I almost died to another reflect pack as well. You can also see in this video how easy it is to refresh Archon with Stormchaser. I'm pretty sure that is going to get nerfed.
The %31 gem actually gives 17.7% more xp due to the fact that most of the time you're at 175% XP from the NV buff. Even so it makes you reach paragon lvl 100 100 or so hours faster.
Morphos you see the Paragon system in a wrong way. It is not meant to give you more MF. It's meant to allow you to replace your current items which gives MF with DPS ones while staying at your current MF %. Once you get to lvl 10 you're able to offset the MF lost from the gem for example. In 7 more levels you'll be able to use the money you obtained while leveling to upgrade another piece of equipment from MF to DPS.
All in one you seem to not grasp the huge grind for max paragon lvl. If you're lvl 10 you're 98.5% away from lvl 100 - not 90% away as you might think.
I am not that concerned with hitting level 100, just like I was never concerned with hitting 99 in D2. My goal is to farm items. If I switch to a red gem, ill lose MF until I gain enough levels to replace it. Id rather have that MF now. When i hit the MF cap with the topaz, ill probably swith it to a ruby at that point.
Did i miss something with Energy Twister//Storm Chaser when you don't even use a signature spell to proc the monster tornado?
Hmm... when you use that rune does it change how much LoH you are getting per tornado? I figured that would only change the LoH of the monster tornado that procs when using a signature spell... Interesting guess i'll go try that out

It is the rune that determines the spell coefficients for LoH/CM. The SC rune has a higher coefficient than no rune (I believe), which is why it is used over no rune. The tornado from the sig spell probably also has its own coefficient.
You seem to have pretty low resists according to your profile. Could you please tell me how much, because you seem to roll on act3 ^^
Thanks in advance
They are about 400 right now, but that is actually slightly overkill. I am on my phone so i can't link you the thread, but look around this forum and you'll find loroese's thread on the 1.04 update to how much ehp you need for force armor, and it'll have the link to my earlier thread describing it.
Lifesteal does not work with the archon beam. Not sure if its a bug or not. It does work with the other attacks though.
Lifesteal does work with the beam but the life steal from the Blood Magic rune of Magic Weapon does not.
Are you sure about this? I was pretty sure that lifesteal on a weapon does not work with the beam either, but if you have tested it yourself I believe you.

You died on reflect because u don't have life steal, it's pretty good for archon builds

Lifesteal works with archon beam perfectly fine, been using it since the patch and it's superb.
I'm actually writing up a guide on Archon for all the new / aspiring players out there, if you don't mind i'll link your vids in the guide here? (bit lazy to do my own vids)

I did, I reached 125K EHP, where 117.5K is required, but I still get owned on act3 pretty much every time
It's down to 100k or so now after the 1.0.4 changes, but that's just to make force armor optimal. For Archon, more is recommended unless you can kill elites before they get to you.

Yeah archon needs more all res because u dont have def skills while in archon form like diamond skin or teleport. Also u can go with 120k ehp with force, its pretty good but you will still get owned by elemental ticks like fire chains arcane sentry and molten. However if you have shitloads of DPS like OP then u dont really need much resists or armor cuz ur gonna be nuking everything...
Wouldn't it be better to get a bit more AR and use prismatic? I thought that archon gave 40% bonus just as prismatic did?
That's the general idea of Archon, but if you have low EHP with force armor, say 200k or less, then switching to prismatic likely won't help you survive more hits from elites so you'd be better off keeping Force Armor. If you can push to 300k in Archon, you can make an arguement for using prismatic armor. Anything above 400k and you definitely should be using prismatic.
Note that when I saw low EHP I mean low from an Archon perspective since 200k is actually a lot for kiters (I farm Act 3 fine with 125k EHP or so as a kiter).

Like others have said, it mostly depends on your DPS. I don't run with much, but I have a good bit of life regen per second, health globes full heal me, and I have a ton of DPS so things die fast.
Also, I am just a fan of force armor and have always run a kiting spec. It's kind of just preference... I think force armor is a really fun skill and one of the only ones in the game that actually changes how you build your character (because you can juggle EHP instead of just maximizing it).
I would really like to try an Archon build. I'm geared for a CM/WW build right now. Would I need to change gear do you guys think?
you could just change your skills, and you will do very well with it. Might have a little problem to stay alive because of your low resists, but that is something easy to get, changing pants and chest for ones with more resist.

I think this spec rivals the double WW barb at this point, but I could be wrong
The whole point of paragon leveling is to get more MF. Why would I want to lose MF to level slightly faster?
Storm chaser was not nerfed. It's coefficient is still .5. It will get nerfed.
~30 percent EXP is slightly faster leveling?
