Hello there! Iv been fooling around with builds for my duo comp with a monk.
The idea was that he would be focusing on a defensive build against melee attackers, so I would have to take slow time to defend ourselves against casters.
Also, I take reduced blizzard cost since the use of blizzard will be to cast commets with ease and have increased dmg from frozen/slowed targets!
I take chilling aura also to make my monks life easier on higher difficulties.
Heres my build! What do you think are the good/bad ideas about this?
Seems nice, although I would personally change astral presence for prodigy to pump your AP so you can spam those steep comets more often. The rest looks solid but I think I would maybe change the rune in frost nova to shatter for that bonus frost nova, and maybe change the rune in slow time(miasma looks good) even though time warp looks good in team play as well.
Yeah I do agree with the ffrost nova change, and prodigy does seem good, I assume itl depends on how many signature spells I pump out to see if astral is better!!
The only thing I would change is the Ice Armour to Energy Armour. You're not going to be much use to the Monk if you're dead. Plus you already will have a lot of slow from Blizz n Meteor so and hopefully you wont be getting close enough to the monsters to make your Chilling Aura work effectively. I would say Chilling Aura is for a more close combat or melee Wiz. Take the extra defense, you'll need it for Inferno!
Electrocute and Prodigy for getting AP back.
Free Ray of Frost, cheap Blizzard, Comet and Cold Blooded to not only get a whole heap of use out of slows, but also synergise them to do a fair bit of damage in the process.
For defense, I prefer Diamond Skin to Slow Time because it offers instant protection for iffy moments. Energy Armor is also helpful for staying alive in between Diamond cooldowns.
