Basically the concept here is to get as much Arcane Damage down range as possible thus slowing as many mobs as possible. Very easy to kite and avoid damage when everything is slowed.

1) Death Blossom on the Arcane Torrent was chosen because its "Fire and Forget" ability. This means I can keep casting other spells after this one is cast. This results in more fire power and more multitasking.
2) energy storm w/ storm chaser - another fire and forget form of arcane damage. every 3 signature spell casts releases 3 random arcane tornados for 75% damage each. Thats an amazingly efficient ability imo. Lots of damage being thrown on the screen which also has the ability to slow mobs as well. And it costs zero arcane energy.
3) Mirror Mimics - another fire and forget form of arcane damage; every ability is arcane so no matter what they decide to use it will slow the targets. IF mimics decide to use Death Blossom the damage is they put out can be quite nice. 10% of 670% weapon damage is still 67% damage which is not bad for a summon. Also since there are many "fire and forget" spells it means the Mirror Mimics can really fill up the screen with purple arcane crap too.

1) Tele w/reversal - not only gets you out of danger but when enemies change direction chasing you and they finally get to you, you can simply go back via the reversal rune. its perfect kiting ability and essentially puts tele on an 8 second timer if you consider the reversal a 2nd tele.
2) Energy Armor - perhaps most powerful shield in the wizard's arsenal. provides some very nice defense options. Lots of rune selections can be used here all of which are good in their own right.
3) Mirror Mimics - decoys who also add CC and fire power... only a 15 second CD. IMO the coolest ability in the wizards arsenal.
4) Illusionist - whenever you take a big hit your Tele and Mirror Mimics reset. Thats more escapes and more fire power and more distraction whenever the pressure is on.
5) Temporal flux - slows. With the amount of fire powre this build has everything should pretty much be slowed. Makes kiting a breeze as well as staying out of danger.

Seems to be a very nice balance of survability as well as offense. Not sure about Prodigy and some of the arcane power efficiency abilities/runes. Made sense at the time because chucking out as many Death Blossoms as possible seems to be ideal. So wanted to increase arcane power regen to leverage that. However, there are some very nice other runes/passives/abilities that could be subbed that might be better.
Asthetically the whole screen should be filled with purple which is pretty bad ass imo.

I believe you misunderstand how death blossom works. I'm sure it behaves just like Arcane Torrent does in the beta only you can't control where it goes. It's not a fire and forget spell. It's a, "OMG the entire screen is full of monsters" spell.
I think disintegrate would be good for a build of this type. A nice controlled ranged beam of slow

so basically you are saying that Arcane Torrent Death Blossom is a channelled spell ?
arcane torrent is channeled, no runes change that part of it.
Actually that's not quite true. I tested this out in Beta, if you just click (and release) on a monster using Arcane torrent, it will release X number of missiles which will act like heat seeking missiles and hit the target. (But they do go through a loop curve before hitting so there is about a 1 sec delay).
But the normal way Arcane torrent is used is to click on the monster and hold down the mouse button while following it if it moves, then you have a steady stream of missiles hitting him till he dies.
