If you look at the release notes for all the classes, almost all the changes for every class was a lowering of damage. It was much rarer for anything to be getting stronger... How could we possibly know what is and isn't viable from seeing the game on normal up to level 13? I just don't understand the notion of this thread.

I like that because a skill gets mildly nerfed you assume that those abilities have become underpowered, rather than assuming that they WERE really overpowered. Hint: they were. Can't say for the rest of the game, but the Wizard was untouchable in early versions of the beta. And he's still really strong after the tweaks.
Ya honestly, I was thinking about playing monk first, but after thinking through a couple builds. Thier offensive power looks REALLY unimpressive. Most thier offensive skills only deal like 100-200 weapon damage.

Yes, I see.
But wiz nerfed greatly, here is a list I can remember:
1 Critical chance from Nova 30%>15% No dmg anymore
2 DMG increase from glass canoon 20%>15% ( why WD's +20% still remain?)
3 Duration of Safe passage 10sec>4sec but dmg reduction increased by 5%

5 Wave of force 450%>220%
6 Liquify Meteor 100% critical chance become 0%
7 Ray of forst 270%>200%
8 Engergy reg 12.5>10/sec
9 Engergy shield resistance buff 120%>40%
There are more to be listed.
And yet Witch Doctors arguably got "nerfed" even harder. Its funny to consider things nerfed when the game isn't even out yet. Until it is, we should probably reserve using the "nerf" and "buff" descriptions when it comes to skill changes.
Why is everyone obsessed with diamond skin? I wouldn't touch that turd with a 10 foot pole.
idk but I tried it... it's crap.
Of course its crap, the duration is so short that you can't use it proactively, and there are simply far better choices in the reactive category, like frost nova.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
I love how people say that things are imbalanced. Especially since we've only seen up to lvl 13 action in normal, But hey! It will probobly be the same through out the rest of the acts and difficulties rajt?
Diamond skin used to be great when the duration was 9 seconds now it is 5 with the best rune, that is only 2 seconds longer than it normally is! How is someone supposed to get excited about that rune, "Oh man I got 2 more seconds your toast dude !" Even the diamond skin that lowers ap of spells by 15 during that 3 seconds looks rather stupid, you cast two spells and save yourself 30 ap in that 3 seconds but you regen 12.5 a second ? 16.5 with both regens... so over 2 seconds at max, you could sit there and regain more ap then triggering Diamond Skin Prism.... it needs to last longer, and I get sick of seeing people post "you haven't played the beta you haven't played the real game yet nobody has". You read the descriptions of the spells, if there is any truth to what you are reading you should be able to get a basic idea of how it works otherwise your just reading a lie. I haven't seen a blue post saying, "Nothing on our website about the spells is true" so I have to take it that this is a general idea of how things work and as it is now Diamond skin with a duration of 5 seconds is the only thing I have a chance at using second only to mirror skin (if Arcane Dynamo works on it) and if AD doesn't work with mirror skin, I will never even try it. 3 seconds duration with a 15 second cooldown is just too sour a deal.
Now if Prism DS lasted close to half of the cooldown time then I could get excited about that, they could decrease the absorption a little or something but make it 8 seconds and most others 5 sec with Enduring also being 8 sec but with 8897 absorption (or half absorption ) it would keep all these runes on the table for me.

Sorry for my english, I typed it in hurry yesterday.
Yes, maybe it is the best AOE spell which a Wiz left, but with three casts you out of mana.

I choose it becasue of the reduction of mana cost. The dmg absorb amount reduced to only 50% than that in P12.
I think you are right, the duration is not worthy as well, so I replaced DS with mirror image and this wiz has 2 tanks now.

Which is fine, because you only need one to kill a pack of mobs presently.
