I choose this class prior to playing the beta and enjoyed it during the beta. I have currently beaten inferno Act I and have tried to go into Act II, but basically got slaughtered. While I still favor the WD over any class I've sampled, I'm looking for some discussion on gear, the auction house in general, and the later acts. I'd like to say that while I am having a tough time advancing, I do not feel it is impossible and am looking to more experienced players for their insight. This is not a whine thread.
- I'm really enjoying my build. I think the dart move is iconic and very Witch Doctor-like, which is why I've built around fast attack speed and a kiting mentality. I'm not a fan of the VQ builds because I just don't enjoy the play style, though I tip my hat because they are clearly effective.
I'm currently able to farm Act I without issue. I'm trying to gather as much gold as I can, but am wondering if I just haven't spent enough time farming (The game is still very new and inferno IS inferno) or if there's something I'm missing. Does anyone who has Act II on farm or higher remember feeling the same way? Do I just need to keep farming more and more gear. For example, I find that I've struggled to get these stats the way I want them. What I mean is it feels like the gear just doesn't get any better where I'm at. Perhaps I haven't been lucky? These are just some of the things I'm wondering.
What are the recommended stats for moving up to Act II? I've found that the Lacuni female monsters, while not impossible to dodge, can really make things difficult. Will finding these recommended stats lower the one shotting in Act II? I guess I'm just wondering how much harder these acts get and what I should be doing to increase my overall ability to get through them.
Honestly from what I've read so far you can pretty much lower the resist and increase the health naturally with ACT 2 gear and focus on you're dps. I think from ACT 2 on you pretty much just cant get hit, you get hit you die. But Glass Cannon builds seem to be very effective esp with Zombiebears. You die alot but you can kill everything. Boss fights hold you up a bit though.
So you mention this must resist. How do you maintain that much resistance and still get decent health and dps? Perhaps a high INT rating will help as well as +resist gear? Can you elaborate on this further?
Personally... in my opinion... ignore HP and resist because you'll get 1-2 shot anyway. I tried going massive HP (about 35k) + resist (about 600) + shield in Act 2 and it didn't matter. I could survive normal monsters a lot better but rares/champs still 2 shot me. The only way I could do it was stacking DPS as high as possible and skipping most rare/champ groups.
I'd buy a good 1 hand + offhand combo (if you don't have one already) to make kiting easier and that's the best way to increase your dps.

Were you playing solo, or grouped?

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.

I had to use the same strategy as you for Act 2. I just killed Belial yesterday with high dps and low HP/resists. I finished Act 2 with 30k (with pierce of veil) and 20k HP. I just can't get hit by anything otherwise vessel proc or i die. I am able somehow to kill all normal mobs before they reach with proper use of grasp. For champs i just skip those that i cannot kite (fast/teleporter mainly).
It's definitely not effective as i die a lot but i'm able to progress slowly.
