so i just recieved the beta as a lot have and played all 5 classes to the end of the beta already. and by a very large margin the WD is the strongest and easiest to breeze through without even taking a single hit, with the templar + 3 dogs always rushing in before i do they take all the attention/hits while i just spam ranged attacks. id kill a lot faster then the DH Monk or barb. the wiz seems second best at damage dealing but the WD still reigns supreme in survivability and utility which makes him better/faster at killing since i never have to flee or menuver.
skills i used and thoughts:
Grasp of the Dead:
while im sure a lot of people look at this ability and say "boring" or "bleh not that great" i have to say its by far my favorite spell of the ones we get to use. its radius is actually quite nice and it lasts for the entire 8 seconds its on CD. its great for snaring groups of ranged mobs trying to flee and does awesome damage. its 56% wpn dmg PER second, so 448% wpn dmg for mobs in it for the full duration, although nothing has ever lasted through it besides champions and the SK. with the passive "grave injustice" this spell will be amazing to overlap back to back on release.
Firebats:
this spell is def the best he has by far for the simple fact that you can endlessly spam it without ever running out of mana, its just as cheap as poison dart and has a big radius. i basically just ran around spamming this and GoTD and annihilated everything in seconds.
Zombie dogs:
these are definitely a must for any WD who doesnt have hefty CC spells, they rush in immediately before i even see mobs to fight and are good at keeping their attention. their dmg is very sub par even in normal because its only 15% wpn dmg per hit, so they definitely only meant as meat shields. once you get the passive to give you 4 total and 60% life it will be amazing on release too and used in conjunction with gargantuan, having 6 meat shields will make life a breeze.
Corpse Spiders:
ive seen some people say this will suck but from testing it in the beta it freakin pwns. each spider does 38% wpn dmg, and i get the vermin passive so 58%. 4 spiders, and they each attack twice then dissapear. so 464% wpn dmg PER cast. and when you chain cast them on a boss, their life goes ZooooOOOOM gone.
Templar:
mercenary, only usable in single player. he will definitely be the corner stone of your WD defenses with his amazing healing capabilities you really dont have to worry about anything. you, him and your dogs get life regen (lvl 10) and instant heals if low on health so none of you ever die or come close.
seeing as his potential sky rockets with runes/passives and with his high utility/defense/meat shields he will be easier to stack GF and MF a lot more for farming. i see him being the easiest to farm the game by a long shot.

That wasn't talking about you being a noob to the site... it was your comment "that most have" lol....

100% agree and same beta experience. I'd say all of it will come down as if dogs can tank damage or not.

Yes it's like blizzard from D2.. which was great. I also think this might be a good ability for Pvp against melees out of gap closer cooldown.

Yes if they still tank Hell/Inferno difficulties these make the WD very forgiving.
How much of your stats does the dogs gain? Like if you "gimp" yourself with too much MF, will the dogs be one shotted in the later difficulties? My feeling is that later in the game, the WD wont be able to let the dogs take that much beating before they die and the mobs rape you. And also, a blue said that in the beta, the mana management was a non issue and that later on we (those playing a WD) would have to think alot more about that (sorry, cant find the post were they said this).
Either way, the WD have been the class I've been the most interested in and its gonna be really interesting to see what people can do with this class later on in the game.
as far as i can tell the dogs life/defense isnt based on your own, it increases per level.
I agree the WD was by far the easiest, I'd give the monk an edge just because i thought the monk was pure badass fun and the WD gets a lot of 'sit back and watch' time. I think all the classes will eventually balance, and the WD just seems overpowered now because the mobs in the beta don't do enough damage to kill the dogs. i think i recast the dogs twice during the playthrough, and there's no way that will hold up later on.. or maybe it will and WD will crush for PVE.
The mass max summoner - enemies are outnumbered, can summon dozens of zombies to fight together with your pets, and mana will not be a problem. http://us.battle.net...kbhY!XgY!bcZYZZ
My experience so far is that it's not really worthwhile to have more than one direct attack skill. Having dogs, is good, as is GotD, but beyond that, I found I never cast more than one direct attack skill, even when I had more. Personally, I like the firebomb skill.
This might change when I need to start managing mana, we'll see.

with mutliple defensive runes/skills it will make your dogs MUCH better at surviving. like this: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#b!W.a!a
u now have 4 dogs, +60% life. 50% (lvl 4 rune) of the dmg they deal is returned as life to them and 25% life to you. and 20% reduced dmg.
also the WD has TONS of mana regen skills so it wont be a big deal at all. like all of these: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#WSaegc!gUY!bbbbbb
At lvl1 you reg 60mana/sec, it means you have infinite mana to cast spells.
With the lvl increased, WD have 1625 mana at lvl30 and 3250 mana at lvl60, the mana reg becomes a serious problem.
Here is my build for lvl 1-20:
kill fast only- highest DPS build which makes easy quick exp.
