While I don't begrudge the site owners trying to make a buck, can something be done to mitigate the annoyance of these automatically expanding ads on the main page? I usually refresh the main page every few minutes so that I can see when posts are updated / added, and having everything scroll down and then back up each time is really irritating. I'd much prefer it if you could either avoid ads which expand without user interaction, or if you could expand the default size of the frame the ads live in so that they don't push everything else down. I know I could always install an ad-blocker, but I'd prefer to let the site make their revenue.

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.
Why not get an ad blocker? Chrome and Firefox both have apps for ad blocking which work wonders for sites with heaps of advertisements. If you don't use Chrome or Firefox then I'm not sure how you would get rid of them D:
I use Adblocker plus on Firefox and there is literally zero ads to be seen on Diablofans or any sites alike.

"Hey, I thought you'd like the witty irony of grub-on-glowie violence!"

Yes he is right I use Ghostery on Chrome, and it blocks all ads and any trackers. Nothing shows up here or other sites. Plus you can click the ghostery icon and see who/what the ads and trackers are that it blocked. handy.

Ads that i have low/zero tolerance for are Flash/Sound/Animated/Video/Auto Expanding
Animated i can tolerate as long as it isn't a lot of animation in it. Auto Expanding are an instant blacklist forever.
