Just wanting to suggest that maybe it's time for Diablofans.com to look into some sort of anti-spam measure. Seriously, it makes your website look bad that the spam is so constant.
All it takes is a 2-day posting hiatus for new members. ...Or some other variation of limitations.
Just wondering why nothing is done about the spam, it's all over the forum everyday.

^ what he said. It's time to do something about this shit.
I'm not sure how much of this is up to IP.Board and how much Curse can do. Ideally though, I think we'd be ok if you couldn't post more than once every 15 minutes nor start new threads until you've made at least 10 posts. We'd still have to deal with random spam in threads we were reading, but this would give plenty of time to catch and ban the spammers before they can flood the forums with new threads.

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.
I'm trying to get them all, but they're too persistent and keep coming... probably banned 30+ bots just today...
I'll move this to the site suggestions forum...
My apologies. I didn't see the suggestion forum.
As I'm sure most people do, I really hate those bottom feeding spammers with an extreme passion.
Just thought I'd pass it on as it seems every time I come here there's at least 2-3 spam threads at the top of the page in several forums. A strict new member posting restriction would be the best way of getting rid of them.
I just wonder why we get the spam when other Curse sites like MMO-Champion don't. Do they just have better anti-spam, or do the spammers just not go there? Surely if it's the former then we can get that here. Surely Curse cares enough to do something about this absolutely ridiculous spam.
There has to be something that can be done aside from just banning them all, otherwise the whole Internet would be covered in a think crusty layer of spam, and we all know that only 90% of the Internet is spam.
No idea Aldrek. I've also wondered that for a while (if the systems are different or if they just come here). Maybe Molster or Daemaro (or someone from the PHP team) could be able to clarify that.
Btw, I've deleted all I could, but I'm probably not be here the rest of the day (already finished up all the motions I had to do), so bear with us if things get too bad.
We're in the process of looking into better spam protection but it's not without its flaws and last time we activated it, it interfered with a lot of regular posting as well. Sorry for any inconvenience we are constantly removing spam posts they're just faster and more regular then we can handle them. The PHP team is checking into a way to better fix this though and it will hopefully get a lot better soon.
Ive been talking to boubouille about this for a few days, one of the lead devs was on vacation, they will be re-depolying our anti-spam tool. More importantly, we are pushing them to fix the issue where spam threads are showing on the front page even after they have been deleted. that should fix the biggest issue for most of the users.
Can we get a report user instead of report post feature? I see where someone will post the same message 10 times so they get their 10 post limit to spam later with a url. I'm tagging all posts that I see like this with Spam Bot.

report post is all we need, we dont go and delete post by post, we simply click "mark as spammer" it takes care of all their posts/threads/user names/ban ip address..ect

I think we had a "report user" function some time ago. You'd have to go into the user's profile and I'm pretty sure there was that option.
But even though now we only have "report post", it's enough of a heads-up for us to check their profile. If it's a guaranteed bot (as a lot of them are), we just "kill" their account with one click.
