So I understand that the current rules prohibit trading gear for real cash in the trading forums, and under most circumstances I can understand why. However, as DIII supports trading in real currency via the RMAH, why can't we do the same here?
I may have a piece that I want to sell only on the RMAH, but also would like to advertise here. I would start an auction (in $$$) and then post the item in the RMAH, letting the winner know when I will post it so that he can grab it.
Is it because it is too hard to track? It seems like you could allow for this sort of trading without allowing outside trades via PayPal or whatever. Just a thought.
Simple: who's going to take responsibility for scam? Who pays your money back if your buyer canceled his paypal transaction after five weeks? Blizzard gets a good chunk of money from those trade and provides the safety and infrastructur in return. This forum would have to charge a fee as well to make this work.
What are you talking about? Did you even read the post? I'm talking about deals that are performed solely through the RMAH. How is that any more scam-susceptible than finding the auction directly? You're simply finding a buyer here, all of the other protections that are in place in teh RMAH still apply.
I don't seem to understand your problem.
Our rules clearly state you can offer your items for real currency as long as you mention the trade is going to be performed within the bounds of the RMAH.
We do not allow trading of in game items for real cash, unless within the bounds of the RMAH when it is launched. You can make people aware of your RMAH trades by posting a picture of it, they can then search their regional RMAH to find the exact item if they wish, for example. No trading trough paypal or anything similar.
We just don't allow trading through ebay, paypal, or anything else. It's against the ToS and we don't want to facilitate scamming more than it already happens with gold. We just can't control that.
