Its a real life system actually....its not a set thing and post count means nothing.
Quality is valued, your posts will give you the reputation because of what they say, not what number it is.
And no, there is no reputation thing.
This site was designed purely for the love of Diablo and Diablo 3 watching. Initially Diablo3.com it's were all the hopefuls came to talk. So there is no real agenda to be had.

The only thing post count does is if you just joined and have a post count < 10 (or is it 15?), you can't post working links or images. This is to lessen the damage spam bots can do here. Other than that, you don't get any special powers for posting more.

Umpa summed up our posting philosophy here quite nicely

Oh i forgot about the early rule!
Nice save. When did that go in effect because when I actually started posting the site was still occasionally spammed by 1 posters linking their boobz pics.

That made me laugh, should have said Ebotd though.
For the most part though, someones number of post's indicates how active a particular member of that forum is, usually a person with a high number of posts, is a very intelligent person as well as a good writer, they are usually computer savvy (so don't hesitate to ask questions, most of them enjoy helping) and they are a very important part of the forum, as many of these "top posters" donate their time and efforts to make Diablo Fans.com possible.
Do not let that close your eye's to the fact that some people with fewer post's or new members can in fact be very insightful, and are somewhat just as important as the members with a high number of post's. Some people just don't have the time, or are more inclined towards reading than writing.
After all, knowledge is power, I find the top posters to be very informed about anything they speak of in general.

Not really though. It's the admins and site owners that make it all possible. And the ones who do the most technical stuff with the site probably post the least.
Jetrall is the only one I can think of that posts a lot AND does lots of work for the site.
But anyway, no, overall post count doesn't mean anything. And it's like Umpa said, if someone's quality of posts are bad, people catch on to that soon enough and manage to dismiss them eventually. I've seen some members who posted maybe once a month, but every time they did they had a ton of things to say which were insightful and informative.
You may think that over-all post count does not signify anything, but I certainly do.
For the most part, (there will always be exceptions) people with a high number of posts, usually have good grammar, overall writing skills, and are technically savvy, and are quick to reply. So I would say a large number of posts DOES indicate many things.
Almost every time, I have ever asked a question to someone with more then 5000 posts, he knew the answer, or knew where I could get the answer within ten minutes of my asking.
Again of course, there is always exceptions, but there is no denying for a high percentage of the time (probably 95% or greater) this is true about the top posters.
Not trying to take away from the new members or people with only a handful of posts here, but your saying that someone having a large number of posts, does not mean anything, is simply wrong to me.
I actually suspect when the creator of this thread asked that question, he may have actually just been wondering if post count can be used like it is on jsp.

Agreed Magistrate. However, we will consider some possible functions for post count in the future. I will bring it up to the rest of the staff.

I know not all of the admins have tons of posts, but a lot of you do.

EXACTLY so saying "post count does nothing / means nothing" is in fact wrong because it means something different to everyone. "according to you"
He asked; "whats the value of posts" in his title, I simply answered with nothing but facts, from my own personal experience.
<But to say they mean nothing/count for nothing> come on... they have to mean something...
