You may need to adjust your thread display settings in your user control panel.
It may be that your display is set on the default setting, and the buttons aren't there for you because there is only one page of threads visible to you in those sections.
Under the default thread display setting, a thread is only visible for one day after the last post was made. If you increase the amount of time threads are visible, more pages will become accessible to you. I have mine set to 'Show All Threads,' for example.
