Diablo 3 Console Interview
A great interview was posted by Chinese site gnn.gamer.com.tw, in which Senior Level Designer Mathew Berger talks about the console version of Diablo 3. Being just 3 days away this is a nice reminder for the last moments in which you can pre-order a copy of the game! Below is a recap of the interview.
Work on the PS4 version of the game is already underway
There is the possibility that players with the PS3 version of the game, might also be able to play their characters on the PS4
The developers are thinking of interesting ways to use the PlayStation 4 controller and specifically the Trackpad and the Share button. The first, for example, could be used to manage the inventory
Another possible integration is between the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita. Nothing about it is shared though
The game will continue to be updated on console, in standard Blizzard fashion
Nothing is mentioned on the possibility of DLC or the possible release of Reaper of Souls on console
Nothing so far on the Xbox One version of the game
Ghom's Easter Egg
You found a rare Diablo III easter egg! It's kind of small, but there is a slight chance that Ghom's death animation will include a license plate. Great find, and congrats! (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Health bar on consoles
There is a menu option to turn on monster health bars in the console version of Diablo III, and it works very similarly to the PC version. I found it very helpful, even in solo play, for identifying which targets are close to death, and are ripe for the coup de grace. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Favorite Feature From RoS
I have a hard time picking my favorite feature that was talked about at gamescom, but I think Paragon 2.0 wins in the end. I really like the idea of consistent rewards, and trying new Paragon builds based on changes to your skills and gear. When you also factor in the new itemization, Mystic, Loot Runs, and Nephalem Trials I think the end game for Reaper of Souls will have a lot of ways to evolve a character in meaningful ways, and that sounds very appealing. Skill Updates for the Classes
We think the expansion is a great time for it, so we'll be giving all of the existing classes (Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor, and Wizard) skill updates in Reaper of Souls. We're looking to make adjustments that improve the experience for skills that are currently underused, or have balance issues. These changes will likely be part of the pre-expansion patch, but new skills will require players to purchase the expansion to access them. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
We have indeed been sending out some surveys to gather player input on Diablo III, so if you receive one, please fill it out and let us know what you think! Just be mindful to ensure that it's not a phishing attempt before clicking any links. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
