1.0.7 50 Million Critical Mass Budget Guide
ArchonInferno is back with his guides on how to become an awesome Wizard! This guide is for 50 million gold and ArchonInferno will be going through the entire process of picking items and explaining his reasoning for the choices made. Being from the US this time he has gone to the EU Auction House to compare the prices in the different regions.

    Crafted Item Stat Rolls
A small clarification was posted to explain the difference between stat rolls on crafted and legendary items.

That’s part of what makes that item “Legendary.” In this particular case, crafted Razorspikes and other Rare quality bracers cannot form with attack speed, but the Lacuni Prowlers can because that’s part of what’s “Legendary’ about them; Lacuni Prowlers can break that specific rule.

A good rule of thumb is that if you see an affix roll on Rare quality items in a particular item slot, it can potentially roll on Rare quality crafted items of that same slot as well.

    Witch Doctors and Attack Speed
As it stands currently Witch Doctors don't seem to benefit from Attack Speed as much as other classes do. There is reasoning behind it.

sorry i can't help myself. the cold day in hell thing is hilarious...and i know this will be read sooooo....

um, since you play a witch doctor I am sure you understand that IAS(increased attack speed) is not the best stat for them. and you also must notice that we are the only class that has main attacks that use up our resource instead of generating it like every other class(wiz is free), barb on hit and when hit, dh on attack, monk on hit.

and the more IAS we stack the faster we run out of mana. do you guys plan to fix this? like, how come my monk attacks faster and replenishes spirit faster, without having to worry about losing spirit from attacking too fast but my witch doctor I have to throttle all the time. we are the only class where it is a glaring issue. has anyone on your side noticed? is this intended?
sorry, i couldn't make it to ask the developers because im an adult and i have a job. but this golden opportunity i am not going to waste. thanks for your time
We’re aware of the unique resource challenge that Witch Doctors face, and how that can affect the desire for IAS. I would say that IAS is still valuable for Witch Doctors, but that value scales heavily with effective resource management, and that’s intentional.

I would say that your Barbarian and Wizard are both geared and specced well enough for the task, but it’s possible that your skills could be better tuned to sync with your play-style. That’s a call only you could make, though.

    Reminder on Legendary Dyes
You're correct. :) Since we knew the process of going back and redoing textures on all the Legendaries to make them dye-compatible would take some time, we wanted to make sure that players could at least use Vanishing Dye on Legendary items for now.

You can read my original posts concerning dyes on Legendaries here and here. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

    Small Absence From Forums
The development team is absolutely hard at work on further improvements for Diablo III, but I'll toss you some food for thought: this past weekend was actually a holiday weekend here in the US, so many Blizzard Employees were away from the office enjoying time with friends and family.

Members of the Diablo III development team also aren't the ones posting on the forums. That responsibility lies on your friendly neighborhood Diablo III Community Managers, Lylirra, Grimiku, and myself. All throughout the week, we're busy with everything from posts here (many of which are not reflected in the "Latest Blizzard Posts," so you might have missed them), through to blogs, announcements, patch notes, hotfixes, social media, and more. So if you don't see new posts from us in one location, make sure to check them all out. There's a lot that goes on aside from the highlighted blue posts in the general forums. :)

wait are you claiming valentine's day is a "holiday weekend" now? cuz it ain't. D3 team stretching that truth.
While I'm personally a fan of Valentine's Day, the US holiday I was referencing in my post was President's Day weekend, and this Monday was a United States federal holiday. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

    Legendary Items From Chests
Though I haven't experienced it myself, I've confirmed with developers that it is indeed possible to get a Legendary item from a Resplendent chest. It doesn't mean it's likely, but it's probably a good idea to leave no chest unopened. ;) (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Found an ilvl 63 legendary in a resplendent chest yesterday myself. Think that was the first time.

not sure about resplendent chests, but I found at least 2 legendaries from white chests already. (storm shield and a crappy sultans sword)

btw: how come people refer to 50mil Gold as 'budget build'? I rarely make it past 5mil before my money is down to 25k again due to upgrading gems (usually as soon as I have 3 gems they are combined) und crafting the new stuff... never sold anything for more than 10mil (once), usually I sell more for 50-250k gold in the ah - and since 1.07 I never sold anything in the AH anymore - so it's hard to get some money at all.
    monster + explosion = awesome!

Yup it is if you know what inflation is! When I help friends find gear the budget can be pretty low for a single item 1-5mil and I can find something but If you really want to build a whole char from bottom up I normally would like a decent budget wich is 100mil + to work with helped my friend make a DH for 250mil the other day.

as one of the few who despise the AH, i only make 300-500k PER WEEK. i'm tired of these "budget" guides, and "exciting new gems" with pricetags that demand only constant AH players could ever afford.

remember at the beginning, when Blizz promised the AH would never be a part of the game they forced you to use? yet the new marqise stuff now demands it???

I couldn't have phrased the feeling better. Trying to farm gold instead of actual upgrades makes the process boring for me.

Why is it not in budget when 1 million only cost 25 cents. 50m = $12.5 !!!!

Dear Blizzard, please fix WD resource management. That's on of the main reasons why nobody plays WD. It's so sad. I really want to come back to this game. I try every patch, but WD still sucks in comparison *sadpanda*

Some people might not want to spend real dollars, And some of us never got lucky early on to get the god mother of all godly loots to drop back at the start of the game. 99.9999% of all things you find are vendor junk and you need to be very lucky to even get 1 item that sells for more than 10k gold. 50 million is ultra rich budget for most people that wasnt extremly lucky and got the godmother of all awesome drop in the first couple of weeks of the game being out.

That is a false assumption, everyone has to purchase this game to start. The gold is super cheap now compare to $4 a million in the first few months. If you are saying that you don't even have 50 million or more and you have been playing since the release, then I seriously suggest you to buy the golds now. i could not disagree more with your point of view.

of all the online games ive ever played, i have never once paid for in game currency or items. the fact that it is even necessary in some is either a failure of design, or just a blatant ploy to boost a company's profits. which i as a consumer am less likely to buy a product of that company in the future.

if you cannot complete a game INSIDE the game, then why play it at all?

i refuse to be an ATM, frivilously wasting my money for a few pixels.

In his video, he's bitching so many times about "items that are much cheaper on EU than on US". I wonder if he was just lucky by finding those items? I tried to build a similar set like the one he did and especially all the Zuni items are at least two times as expensive as in his video. I put in the same numbers and the prices were just twice as high, some even more. As for the ring, there was only one matching his stats, for 10 times more buyout (39m). Was he just lucky, or is it that everyone watched his guide and thus people realize "oh these items are worth something" and therefore prices increased? That would make basically every publicly released guide unusable. He also doesn't offer too many alternatives, like rare belt or black weapon, just to avoid running into this problem that you *need* Chanto set, 3 piece Zuni, and so on (which is not the case).

I liked his previous guides and linked them in my gear guide, but this one is in my opinion not too helpful because it falls short on several aspects: too limited choice of alternative gear, too much "luck" involved in sniping the items, a budget that's not really a budget build anymore, and a lot of assumptions that bring people into trouble who just think that within half an hour and with 50m they can build a perfect CM wizard. He has a lot of experience and is able to compute so much stuff in his head, if people do the same in less than an hour I bet many will end up with a flawed set in the end (just falling short on some important EHP stats for example).
