More Information on Patch 1.0.5 Systems
gamer.com.tw has posted an article giving even more information on the 1.0.5 systems than we got yesterday. Keep in mind this article is in Chinese and has been translated. Please keep this in mind. You can check out the full article with a google translation here.
    • You will be able to set Monster Powers from 0 to 10 before the game starts. The higher the number the more life and attack the monsters will have. Elite packs may even drop more loot than normal. This also increases gold reward and loot quality
    • "players will be back in the game world in every corner to find to the mysterious clues and objects, and then piece together the challenges purgatory system."
    • "Purgatory device to challenge the players to have reached 60 to be eligible to enter. The official pointed out that this copy will be a completely new architecture, although there will be no new Boss and monsters"
    • It "bears unique treasures waiting for players to come to explore, including the legendary ring new 1.05."
    • These rings will be Bind on Account, and can not be traded!

    Diablo 3: Finding a Voice
With the recent blue post on the voices of Diablo III, now is a good time to check out "Diablo III: Finding a voice" if you have not seen it.

Should Skill Swapping Reset NV Buff - Poll Recap
A few days ago we held a poll based off a blue post. We asked if you think Skill Swapping should reset the NV buff. Though over 12,000 people thought it should, it looks like 26,000 people thought it should not reset the buff. What are your thoughts on the outcome?

As long as it's one of the only things that is, I'm ok with it. Only things that can be held as a token of an achievement should be bound, but other than that, bind on anything is kind of stupid.

Why not? Explain yourself! :) I see no problem with BoA items as long as they are limited to a few specific (maybe even severely OP?) items, that would be kinda neat. To have something to hunt for yourself, something that can not be bought. I welcome the idea!

Im so glad it will be account bind. It would only made the rich even more rich if it would be tradeable.

Btw your nephalem valor poll is fail and says nothing. Try adding 3th option - "Each skill or passive change would remove 1 NV stack" and lets see what would win

Must confess I'm a little surprised by that poll's result. Certainly suggests that the "D3 should be more like D2!" crowd are indeed a minority. We've gone from a system which is as unforgiving of poor choices as you could imagine, to one in which totally changing your build has the most minor of costs, and still 2/3 of people think it should be even cheaper.

And month ago they said that they want skill tree\distributable points back. I don't understand. I think people just frustrated that game is getting better, nothing to realy complain about.

You are mistaken in your assumption that they are a minority. I would so much want the skill system of D3 to be more like D2's but I voted no to the poll. You know why? Because when you have access to much more skills, the game is more dynamic. It's not about choice. Now we have 6 static skills. If we had 30 and could swap around fast, the game would be around 20000 times funnier IMHO.

Like d2.. Remember the skill swapping with F1-8 buttons? Damn that was insane especially with a sorceress..

Let me make it a bit clearer what I mean by choice in the skill system argument. This is my view:

D2: Pool of skills -choice-> Smaller Pool of skills (generally at least 10 that focus on different aspects) -> dynamically/strategically use those to maximize your potential (different potential depending on the choice)

D3: Set pool of skills -choice-> 6 skills on action bar (for my monk 1 is a passive, 3 are defensive and 1 is a focus generator.. so 1 choice essentially because I can't survive without the 3 def skills) -> Very interesting skills left out (in d2 you could just spend a point to an interesting or helpful skill, i.e. Pala Charge and have it) -> one rotation as you farm and similar playstyle regardless of the choice of skills -not as dynamic since you only have 6 skills that their usage is subject to cooldowns.

To be honest, the skill system of d3 is amazing for bosses where you plan the engagement but ye.. That's as far as it goes imho.

whats wrong with BoA? why is it such a big deal to some people? I really don't get why people are so bothered by the idea.

And as far as skill points go, well In D2 if you screwed up you had to re roll.

In d3 it basically has every skill at max and you just swap them in and out at your own leisure without worrying about point allocation.

When it comes to the NV stacks and skill swapping I see no problem with the way it is. If a champ pack gives you problems it isn't because of your skills it's because of your gear, plain and simple.

The issue with D3 is the fact that some of the skill are just terrible and have no synergy with other skills which forces you to cookie cut. Another problem is that a build that is very efficient for solo isn't as efficient in a group and imo a build that works solo should work in a group just as effectively.

Legendary ring... shouldn't that have saved SoJ for that?

    Whatever.
  • #19
I can't find any valid argument why skill swapping shouldn't reset NV buffs. It's freaking insane and only profits non-hardcore players that can't go with only 1 playstyle.

I'm ok with a unique and guaranteed item from a hard challenge being BoA
