I'm really curious about the legendaries changes, in the current state they are lackluster to say the least.
I just hope the changes are going to be retroactive.
Well hopefully they can really deliver for gameplay and systems. Sadly they wont ever change that dismal story. I just do not know how so many years of work and teamwork produced THAT story. Especially given that they had two games and a series of books to pull from for ideas. I mean dang, they had Knaak write the Sin War Trilogy to establish a solid pre-history and the only thing they pull from that is saying Nephalem and the Prophet? I feel a tantrum coming on so I will stop and go back to thinking of what other games I can warm up to.
just out of curiosity, what are you both hoping for the MF update?
Well imo, MF works fine as it is. There is just a big cleft between using high MF gear via gear swapping and actually balacing ones stats around farming with MF. I hope they won't introduce a cap; mostly because all the work in my thread will have to be redone, but also because it has never had a hardcap associated with it. I personally hope the MF update will only involve gear swapping without affecting the base mechanic of MF itself, but whatever option they have chosen I will just have to adapt to.
Btw have you checked the thread today? We have just updated it with some new interesting results
I check it almost daily =)
but also to add to the subject for the changes, bashiok is kind of teasing a bit about it:
Magic Find Update : No no no no no no no no no . We don't want any lol. Just don't touch anything
Change everything, don't touch anything... How about you just wait and see?
It very well could be a blog about why they will not be changing it. Sadly I really don't have any clue this time around on this blog. so im eagerly waiting for it as well.
Im a fan of the "MF gear set", but swapping does suck.
notice the lack of any real time frame, and now blizzard is NAMING the people that are slacking in company. Frankly how hard is it to write a few paragraphs on system changes that are already in the works.
Oh look ! system change(s) ! . . . . must be another AH update
I hope so. The pain of finding upgrades (and pricing items to sell) on the AH is one of the things keeping me away from D3 atm. Plug in 3 stats then manually scan pages of results is more than I can bear. I doubt I'll log in again until, at a minimum, we get more search fields to work with.

Funny; the pain of finding upgrades while playing is one of the things keeping me away from D3 atm.
That happens so rarely that it's not even on my radar. Aside from initially filling empty slots I think I've had two or three drops that I actually used, one quite recently while farming VoA. If I find an upgrade, that's great, but at this point farming stuff to sell and then buying upgrades is more dependable.

Don't worry, I think it's HIGHLY unlikely that they implement any sort of MF cap. When they put out the 5 suggestions of changes a few months ago almost NO ONE thought that was a good idea. With the current state of the game, I think they are doing everything in their power to keep backlash to a minimum.
Personally, I'm a bit worried that they'll nerf normal gear swapping in the process of dealing with MF. I think it's intelligent play for a ranged character to switch in a shield on packs where the incoming damage might be harder to kite. For example, reflects damage or vortex. I really hope they slowly add MF instead.
Also, I really hope (and expect) them to add something positive along with the change. My guess would be that they increase the amount of MF that NV provides (up to 20% per stack would be my guess). This is really important because I think finding gear is TOO SLOW. It would make the game a lot better imo. Even with MF swapping... I still rarely get anything noteworthy after a 1-1.5 hour long run. Without it... things will be even worse.
It is too late, just too late for just a patch !!!
At this time we need something heavy like PvP or Expansion. No way ppl that are farming Diablo for 2 months gonna return for an enchanced loot system or balanced classes
L0L blizz u r out of time and space !!!
There isn't a measurement of how wrong you are. You don't even get an explanation as to why, either.
I think magic find is too much of a luxury stat, the fact finding more items means more gold, is quit broken, plus the fact its the only way to improve on gear is somewhat bad.
Look at the text for the portuguese version of this news.
If someone have a good english to translate this, but here is telling about a new funcionality, but its not mentioned in another language news.

I think swapping for MF is just plain broken, and I'm expecting swapping to be effectively stopped.
Either opt4, or a "only weaps/offhands swappable in combat" like WoW.
I run Act2/3 in real combat MF gear around 230MF before NV.
Unfortunately as they've stated before, Diablo 3 doesn't really have an "in-combat" flag, the game doesn't differentiate between running around in an empty field or being raped by laser-beams and twenty spiderlings.
