Digital Version Now Locked to Starter Edition for up to 72 Hours
If you're buying Diablo III from the digital store, take note of this important limitation.
As of patch 1.0.3, when purchasing a digital version of Diablo III through the online store or your Battle.net Account, players are restricted to the Starter Edition for the first 72 hours (sometimes less). Players on Starter Editions have the following restrictions:
Act I up to the Skeleton King is available
Level 13 cap
Matchmaking available only with other Starter Edition players
No Auction House access (Real Money or Gold)
Global Play is not available. Players attempting to connect to Diablo III Starter Edition in a region other than their Battle.net Account's home region will receive Error 12. See the Global Play support article for more information.
If you are still encountering the Starter Edition restrictions over 72 hours past the date of purchase, please let Customer Service know: http://us.battle.net...article/contact
Unofficial Patch Changes
sny83 has been rounding up all the unofficial patch changes found in patch 1.0.3. It's safe to say this is not a full list, but it hits a lot of the changes. Make sure to check out his thread to find more, and also post some more hidden changes.
DiabloFans Quote:
General
The Last Stand of the Ancients event in the Festering Woods no longer spawns every game, and now has multiple positions in which it can appear throughout the zone
Monks now properly use all weapons in their attack animations
The gold reward from multiple quests has been reduced
Items
The 4-piece bonus for the Natalya's Wrath set now grants +2 discipline regeneration per second, up from +0.42
Skills
Demon Hunter
Evasive Fire no longer hits enemies or objects behind walls created by Waller elites or sand doors in the zones of Zoltun Kulle's Archives
Bosses
Zoltun Kulle teleports to the player every ~10 seconds if the player is more than half a screen away and instantly throws a fireball (this was mentioned in the official patch notes, but with "occasionally" as opposed to the exact frequency, and with no mention of the instant fireball)
Monsters
The Vortex ability on elites now has an increased range, similar to that of the maximum range of Mortar post-patch
Elite packs heal all damage taken much sooner than before when not engaged combat (tested in Act II, Inferno)
Dark Summoners in the Halls of Agony (Act I) will now summon a normal Unholy Thrall as opposed to a champion one when left alone to complete their ritual
The rare pack that spawned outside the entrance to the Ancient Waterway in Dahlgur Oasis has been replaced with a single unique monster
Monster spawns in Highlands Crossing have been changed so that previously safe areas can now be populated by monsters
Upon crossing the first bridge in Highlands Crossing, two Dark Berserkers are summoned
Chat
If you send a private message to someone and he replies, you no longer automatically enter reply mode (/r) after hitting Enter
The channel text colour has changed from teal to light beige
The game messages text colour (e.g. game joins/leaves, toggling loot display on the ground, salvage results, etc.) has changed from light beige to yellow
If a player playing a Battle.net game other than Diablo III comes online, the message that appears in the chat window now prefixes their name with the icon of the game (i.e. World of Warcraft)
It is no longer possible to send messages to party chat when not in a game (possibly a bug fix?)
Auction House
The Auctions and Completed tabs of the AH user interface now show (enclosed in brackets) the number of auctions in progress and completed, respectively
The item quality filter dropdown menu in the AH search interface now has colour-coded elements (i.e. blue text for magic, yellow for rare, etc.)
The item tooltip in the AH user interface now shows the calculated DPS (as mentioned the official patch notes) but when searching for an item, the DPS column of the result table shows the raw weapon DPS
Bug fixes
Zoltun Kulle no longer appears/talks as the player approaches the shadow locks in Unknown Depths and Storm Halls if he has been killed already
The Villager's Journal lore item can now be found in an Old Keepsake Box in The Old Ruins
The bonus to critical hit chance granted by the Sharpshooter passive no longer resets when moving items around in the inventory
Feedback First of all, I would like to state that I do thoroughly enjoy this game. I have been playing pretty much every day since launch, and I played almost every day that I was allowed to in Beta.
However, there are a few areas of this game that I feel can be made better. This is not a QQ post, and any unconstructive feedback given is not appreciated. So without further ado, here goes.
Thank you for this compilation! While I'm unable to really comment on any of the suggested changes (save for one, below...sort of), please know that I've forwarded on this thread to our developers for review. Not only are the initial points of feedback constructive and detailed, but the ongoing discussion which has followed has been equally insightful.
If I can follow up on any of the suggestions at a later time, I will. In the meantime, please keep this discussion going. I'll definitely be reading along.
With the changes to repair bills, you might also want to reward players who are actually playing the game.
On this point specifically, we're looking to reduce the durability hit players take from normal wear-and-tear. We agree with players and feel that characters who never die shouldn't be getting hit with a giant repair fee every couple of hours.
Wow, im kinda shocked they blue posted on this thread and not mine. http://us.battle.net...95160080?page=1
No need to be shocked. I simply hadn't seen it yet (lots of threads to read this morning), but thank you for sharing a direct link. I'll look it over as soon as possible. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Thankful
I thought the exclamation point/question mark power-combo would make it obvious I was joking. Of course you wouldn't be thankful that we didn't nerf all the stats, the extreme degree of obviousness as to the incorrectness of the statement is what makes it so absolutely hilarious. Anyway, sorry you misunderstood my intent.
Here's the entire quote, for reference and cataloging:
We don't want people to be afraid of nerfs, and ... I guess maybe I can try to get that across by saying we could have nerfed a bunch of stats that probably deserve it to some degree, but we didn't (aren't you thankful!?), because we don't believe our design approach should be constantly noodling with really important things, like stats. It should only be when we have an extreme situation developing, and we felt that was the case with IAS.
Basically anything so say or do around here right now will be responded to with pitch forks unless its along the lines of "reverting blah blah blah"
Oh I know, but what's a Fallen Shaman to do? I still love the game, and Blizzard, and want to work to make everyone happy. Gotta take a black eye or two. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Real Life Threats
This is a reminder that we take threats made against other players, against our employees, and of self-harm extremely seriously.
We realize that there can be stressful and trying moments in the game or when interacting with others, but there is no acceptable time to go beyond the boundaries of the game and threaten others with real-life harm.
If someone is found to be making a real-life threat, we will report it to the authorities, which could result in real repercussions. To report threatening in-game chat, use the right-click Report > Real-Life Threat option, or for forum posts, use the thumbs-down button and choose "Real-Life Threats." "If you send a private message to someone and he replies, you no longer automatically enter reply mode (/r) after hitting Enter"
This, is annoying. I don't know about you guys but i chat to all my mates online, in party or not. When i'm chatting to my mate who is in another game, everytime i want to comment/reply I have to enter/click his name. Rather than before accidently chatting to the wrong person, now i'm sitting there chatting to nobody.

I agree with this. I've been accustomed to using sticky chat for quite a while. After the patch I end up spamming whatever random channel I'm also chatting in.
On a side note, what the hell are they doing to the digital version? Inmagine you buying the game. OH WAIT I BOUGHT THE DEMO FOR 3 DAYS............................

The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn’t...
The digital edition restrictions seem to punish regular people more than anything (not surprising), as botters can just as easily use compromised accounts.
1)Blizzard turns an Offline Game to always online ---> leeds to error 37, other server issues, you bought but you CANT play the game
2)Blizzard removed LAN, allows only battle.net multiplayer, ---->leeds to issues in number 1
3)Blizzard now allows you to Buy their games (thanks Blue for accepting our money), BUT Doesnt allow you to play it full for the next 3 (hoppfully not stuck more) days!!!!!!!--->leeds to think solution number 2, but no, this leeds to issues number 1 all over again!
and that's how TorchLight 2 will be D3 killer.-
enought is enough.....we love you, but your policy is getting more and more agressive, and you damn know very well this will cause you loose MONEY!
no it really wont... but hey you're entitled to your opinion
Not sure why but I did not get any of the 5 class sigils nor did I get the achievement. When the promotional was live I made sure I did it at least two times per sigil to make sure I got every single one. I even have the emails stating that I would get the class sigils when the promotional went live to my account. However I did not get any of them, any help?I did change my email address and just now changed it back to the one I had unlocked them with to my account. I really hope that did not screw anything up.
I don't get it.
If you buy a digital copy, you cant level past lvl 13 until 3 days gone??
Or do they mean it's free to play till lvl 13, and then you got to buy it to unlock the rest?
Bots used starter editions at first to spam trades and general.
They blocked that.
Now they are using fraudulent credit cards to get real editions, that can take manual checking to make sure it is, so they give themselves 72 hrs to get a Blizzard staff to double check it was really paid using a valid creditcard.

I don't agree. I want R to be reply to whisper and enter to be my party chat.. So annoying to want to write someting in the party, pressing enter, and then it writes to someone i whispered to instead.
R is the fucking reply buttong, not enter. When i press enter i don't want to reply, thats what R is for.
Different strokes for different folks and all that. I'm personally annoyed at how it's being done now as I prefer to manually switch what chat channel I'm using (/r, /p, /g, etc.) and having it stay on that channel until I wish to change it. It helps when I'm solo farming and I have to type to talk to my mates because I've got my music up too loud to use vent.
I honestly don't see why it can't be an option under the social tab.
Update 6/26/12: Leveling and Act I content restrictions for unverified digital purchasers have been removed with patch 1.0.3a. Please note that this change will not take effect until your game client has been updated to the most recent patch.
