Update: Blizzard has just posted the official blue post on the battletags change, adding it below.
BattleTags Can Now Be Changed
Big thanks to TheDomino for the tip. It looks like you are now able to change your Battletag. simply go to your battle.net page and click the "change" link under your current battletag name! (update: Blizzard has just released the official blue post) IMPORTANT: You can only change your name once!
When we introduced BattleTag nicknames, many of you created one to try the feature in the Diablo III beta test or simply establish your new identity in anticipation of Diablo III's release.
Today, we're releasing an update that will give everyone one opportunity to change their BattleTag nickname for free. If you picked a nickname you're not happy with, don't worry -- you can pick a new one. Even if you haven't created your BattleTag identifier yet, you'll still get one free BattleTag change to use after it's been created (similar to the way character name changes for StarCraft II worked).
As we announced previously, BattleTag nicknames will be required in order to play Diablo III, and in the future, they'll be used in a variety of ways across all of Battle.net. To set or change your BattleTag, simply log in to Battle.net account management, head to the Account > Summary page, and look for the Create or Change option. BattleTags aren't unique, so you can pick any name you like as long as it adheres to the BattleTag Naming Policy.
Here's what you can expect from BattleTags when Diablo III launches:
Your BattleTag will serve as your public identity when chatting, grouping, or interacting with other players in Diablo III.
Once two players agree to become BattleTag friends, you'll automatically be able to see and interact with each of the Diablo III characters your friend plays automatically – no need to add multiple character names to your friends list individually.
Prior to the game's release, your presence on the Diablo III forums will be connected to your BattleTag, rather than any one specific character in the game. You'll transcend boundaries!
Our long-term plans include adding the ability for BattleTag friends to participate in cross-game chat (in StarCraft II, Diablo III, andWorld of Warcraft, and future Blizzard Entertainment games), as well as offer other features similar to what's currently available viaReal ID. More cool additions to BattleTag are on the horizon, but we're not quite ready to talk about those yet.
We'll continue to keep you up to date on our plans for BattleTag nicknames as more info becomes available. For more details, check out the BattleTag FAQ.

We've received more than 2,000 entries for the Portrait of a Champion Art Contest and we're looking for more talented artists to help bolster our ranks. The hour of Diablo's return is near…take up your tools and forge a hero to help stem the tides of darkness before it's too late!
Time is short. The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. PDT on Sunday, April 29, so there's no time like the present to begin crafting an original image of your favorite Diablo III class rising to the meet the challenges of the pending demonic invasion. The future of Sanctuary is at stake, as well as epic prizes including 3D monitors and video cards by ASUS, Diablo III computer cases by Antec, and Diablo III peripherals by SteelSeries.
Please note that submissions must be wholly comprised of your own, original imagery, exceed a resolution of 1600 x 1200, and may be no larger in size than 5 MB. Submissions that do not meet these requirements will not be eligible to win.
RMAH Bug
We are aware that, in the Diablo III beta, a 15% transaction was previously displayed when selling items in the Beta Bucks auction house. This was a configuration error, and has been corrected.
We do not currently have plans to alter the auction house fee structure for the beta, as previously discussed here:http://us.battle.net...opic/4062879314
As always, thank you for your feedback. This is exactly the sort of thing that makes a good beta test.(Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Yellows From Barrels
In our internal testing recently, I've gotten yellows from barrels. I started seeing them once in a great while starting at ~level 28. I'm talking about one in a hundred barrels or more. Blues from barrels definitely drop more often than yellows. I'd say it's working as intended. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Fun Interview with Micky Neilson - Book of Cain
PlayersCut had a rather interesting/unique interview with Micky Neilson. Most of the interview is just fun comments with a few random lore questions here and there, such as "Not all 7 heroes from Diablo 2 are still alive"
When you change your battletag does do anything about changing the number after your name? I'm satisfied with my name and the number after it seems to be there no matter what so I can't imagine I'll ever need to change it.
But you can't change to the same BattleTag. So if yours is Generic#6433 it won't let you create a new Generic#xxxx ... has to be different. Also it is definitely just a one-time thing. Tested on a secondary account :/.
I can't decide what name to use. Isn't naming things the worst part about games?! That's why I'm thinking about my D3 character names a month in ahead, so I don't get to character select and spend 3 hours deciding.
I'm happy that Blizzard has made it possible to change one's BattleTag. I'm content with mine, but there are definitely those out there who want to create a new one because he/she was testing the feature.
Also, I self-proclaim myself Apoc's assistant even though all I do is basically stalk him in a game.
I hate that it shows your dumb battletag when in a group in your main menu and in game. I would much rather see my friends toon name and my own. Cause really, whats the point of naming your toons

The menu I don't mind so much because I can it being rather handy when you have multiple friends online. Now in a game... yes, that annoys me a lot.
Oh man, they should have gave the battletag an extra char, cause my name doesn't fit, one letter off...it's JaundiceBuny now...
I'm sure we'll all still recognise you either way!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Bashiok - Blizzard Representative - 08/01/2011 -"So how many skill combinations are there now? Well taking into account 6 active skills, all the rune combinations, and 3 passives we currently expect each class to have roughly 2,285,814,795,264 different build combinations."
"Hey, I thought you'd like the witty irony of grub-on-glowie violence!"
ffs, what a pathetic little company Blizzard has become. Another way to charge you to change 15 characters in a database.
A free way is a way for them to charge you?
Actually the fact that they will even let you have any means (even if its paid) to change it is good. Though we have no confirmation on how much it will cost. How many games let you change your username after its made? not that many

who much does blizz pay you?
Because Blizzard totally need to pay people to use common sense on the internet while not spewing blind hatred for their company.
If that happened, it would be the easiest possible way to make money.

Could be this huge guy? met him just before fighting Jondar
Ran into one today so there still is a chance apparently.

Yes, that is the one.
Huh. Apoc and I did a decent number of Defiled Crypt runs a couple days back, and the the thing never spawned. I'll keep a lookout for it.
