Diablo 3 Completed Quest UI Update
One of the many updates with patch 10 was the change to the quest reward screens. They now display the quest icon in the window. The Jar of Souls and The Matriarch's Bones quest screens currently do not have graphics. Thanks to apoc for helping with the graphics!

    Diablo 3 Tooltip Graphic Update
Some tooltips have a new background graphic as shown below.

    Diablo 3 Monster Types
Nine "Monster Types" have been added to the beta in patch 10. Monster types can be seen under a monsters health bar.
DiabloWiki.com - Undead Undead, DiabloWiki.com - Demon Demon, DiabloWiki.com - Beast (class) Beast (class), DiabloWiki.com - Human Human, Breakable, Scenery, Ally, Team, Helper

North America Will Be One Region, No USEast/USWest Split
We got confirmation today that Diablo 3 will not be split up into a USWest and USEast like Diablo 2 was. This comes as both good and bad news to some. While you no longer have to worry about being split up from online friends. This means you will only be able to have 10 characters for the NA region (instead of 10 for west and east)

    Official Blizzard Quote:

There will be the North America region. No plans for a split like that.

    More On Attribute Changes
Today we got some more information on the attribute changes that went live in patch 10.

    Official Blizzard Quote:

This decision to change the core attributes and stats doesn't limit build diversity because the same stats exist on items as before. If you wanted precision, now you want +crit, if you wanted defense, now you should aim to get armor. It is the same concept for all stats, if you wanted attack, just go for your core class stat.
What this change is intended to do is increase the item pool by making more items that are clearly not for your character, and subsequently making it easier for you to be able to determine if you should be using an item or not :) If you are a Wizard and get an item with Strength on it, you know immediately that this item is not really for you. It used to be that you would be sitting there analysing an item with +attack for a good 10 seconds or more only to figure out that it's a bad item for you, but now it should only take a few moments to decide this.
We assure you though; this change will not affect the amount of build diversity in the game :)

    Twitter
There's a resist stat for physical now. Same as cold, fire, poison, holy, etc. Defense became Armor. Armor became +physical resist. (source)

    More On Simplified Skill Tooltips
We also got some more information on the simple skill tooltips today.

    Official Blizzard Quote:

As things are right now, advanced tooltips becomes available when pressing down the control button. However, the request for a toggle option between advanced and simple tooltip defaults have been forwarded to the developers, so there is indeed a chance that we might see such an option in the future.

The "easy to learn, hard to master" design philosophy is one we have been happy with for quite a while, and with Diablo III we would like to maintain a strong and immediate focus on getting into the gameplay right from the start.

We feel that the best way to achieve this is to make the game quick to pick up and fun to play straight out of the box, and by offering short and clear descriptions, and not too many numbers, we hope to avoid confusion and irritation. Simplified tooltips are more helpful for the novice player to learn and play the game, and for the more experienced players, they help to quickly differentiate between abilities.

We do of course realise that there are those who prefer the advanced tooltips over the simplified ones, and we are also very much aware that there are those who simply want as much information available as possible without any filters. We acknowledge this, and we do of course want to find good ways to cater to these wishes as well.

In order to present more detailed Diablo III data and information, we are looking into the possibilities for creating a web page similar to what we see with the D2 Arreat Summit (http://classic.battl...batskills.shtml). Having such a page for Diablo III would allow us to provide more organised content, and it would also allow us to provide more timely content. For an example, if we would make a hotfix, we would be able to get that updated information up on the web page immediately, whereas the game client would require a patch before the tooltip can be updated.

Just hearing all this new info gives me renewed vigor for the game. Sadly it doesn't help me wait for the game to be released.
I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.

Good to hear. I don't plan on utilizing all my slots, so I'm rather pleased that NA won't be split up.

    ... ... :?:

The new Completed Quest UI looks interesting, though.

I also noticed that wizard's orbs now sometimes have a little blue glow inside them.

I hoped to have both East and West in order to add 10 more slots...(I know, I'm selfish)

I'm ok with tooltips the way they are since just by pressing CTRL I can see the complex version, but I'd like to have an option.

Also I know I'll read articles and analysis about skills and other game mechanics, that's part of the fun, too. :)

Sounds good. I'm excited to get the ball rolling with some of friends who are Diablo "virgins" as it were.

Really pleased with this news :) More players on the NA server! No more people verbally fighting over which is best, east or west; now people can prove it through PvP.
    Don`t roll into it!

That would be nice. They looked rather boring at times.

new tooltip that autocompare the existed and new item statistics and attributs, is REALY helpfull!!!!
those small thinks make the game play greater in a game!

on the other hand i still find Diablo 3 VERY complicated! even more than WoW!!!!

runes, atttributes skills, abilities, gems, craft, what the hell is going on!!!??????
they should try to keep it simple and that will make it better!

i am trying to find in the blacksmith if i have no weapon a weapon to buy and start fighting, and there is none? i mean wtf? i have spend 10min looking for regular White itesm to start up! why diablo 2 was amazing on that!

whant better items go kill monster, why the hell should i become a Gordon Ramcy and start collecting matirial for a REcipe!!!!! WTF is that?????? Quest in a WoW just to make a start up sword to fight my first enemy!???

those systems are waste of time Blizzard wake up, we know you are working allready in an diablo mmo, try those ideas over there plznot to this Action/RPG, cause you are killing the ACTION with the overwelming systems and complexity you are adding to this game! for the first time i feel i have to read the mnual and play a tutorial to start a Blizzard game!!!!

the user interface, also due to the complecated systems specially before the big cuts, was become to ugly and too complecated!!!! very confusing to startup!!!! even thought i have been playing games like this seens the first day they come to life.

    what happend to the moto
easy to learn hard to master?
    No More Auction House!
My faith is restored to them :Thumbs Up:
Now just give us and a offline mode like sc2 B)

    are...are you trolling?

There will not be a Diablo mmo at this time, if you are referring to project titan, they have already stated it's post-apocolyptic, and a brand new IP, not pertaining to warcraft, starcraft or diablo.

Also, you START with a weapon, no need to buy one. Minutes into the game if you so choose, you CAN buy one, either from all the merchants, or craft one with the BS. Usually you just find one that drops.I'm not sure what you are doing with your first weapon, but you don't need to quest to fight your first enemy.

You seem to like D2, remember they had quests? So will D3, it's awesome =D

Lastly, how hard is it to play diablo 3? You smash demons! Adding runestones, gems, and crafting do add complexity, but they are easy to understand.

still not sure what to make of your post.

    "offering short and clear descriptions"
The simplified tooltips are short but unclear. There is the problem.

"and not too many numbers, we hope to avoid confusion and irritation"
The problem is that the simplified tooltips don't show any numbers. "This attack deals 80% weapon single target dmg" is more clear and more useful to novice players and to experienced players than "This attack deals single target dmg" do you understand, yes or no?

"We do of course realise that there are those who prefer the advanced tooltips over the simplified ones."
No, you dont realise that this is not question of preference.

Why have they decreased shared stash space from 5 tabs to just 3? Are they intentionally trying their absolute best to ruin all the pluses this game has compared to D2?

Is this part of the polishing changes that keep D3 from being released?.... If yes..in that case please i don't want anymore of your fai- ... "polishes"
  • #20
I don't think there is absolutely anybody on this planet who would ever consider "3 tabs" as being better then "5 tabs" of inventory space. There isn't even the slightest reason for that change..and even if they come out with some science fiction reason for that....no customer would ever receive or perceive it as a positive thing however hard they would look at it..specially because it was a major plus for the game and gaming experience in general......and they even advertised and bragged that this game has much more item-space etc.

If u make a change that absolutely no one likes, even if it's a good change in your own private universe, u don't do it. That easy. Wtf is this BS polishing...
