Nethaerarecently commented on the Diablo III Competitive vs Cooperation discussion that has been going on in the official D3 Forums. Our question to you this week is very straight forward, do you feel like Diablo is competitive or cooperative in nature? Let us know!
All Cooperative.
All Competitive.
A mixture of both.
Too busy hacking and slashing.
In our previous poll, we wanted to know what you thought about Moon Physics in Diablo III and the majority of you said that it was perfect as is! Seems like Blizzard must be doing something right.
If you missed the twenty-ninth episode, you can check it out here. Otherwise, the thirtieth episode covered the following topics:
What is normal? Normal is a concept that everyone or a majority of people are the same or similar. However, we know that everyone is unique. If everyone is unique, then everyone is different. If everyone is different, then everyone is weird. If everyone is weird, then everyone is normal.
Beginning: It would be cooperative and by lore, hack and slash alone or with friends. No opposite faction or open world. What better way to kill the last boss with 3 friends that got your back.
End game content: It's going to be a competitive game for who has the stronger gear and go into arena. PvP is always the only end game unless you're playing WoW where they make more bosses and acheivements.

Complete and utter BS, people still play Diablo 2 till this day and mainly for the PvE aspect...
There has never been any TRUE PvP in any Diablo games yet. There has only been simple basic junk where you can hostile other players and PK / fight them, but not in a true PvP experience...
I think getting all classes to 60, all with awesome gear ontop of getting all 3 artisans to lvl 10, getting runes and gems upgraded.... That's alot of gaming right there...
I don't know about you guys, but the only reason that I ever leveled a character on Diablo 2 was so that I could PvP at end game. I don't think anyone had fun just spamming baal runs till 99 and then just stoping... PvP has always been Diablo's real end game.

Bingo. For anyone to make a claim and say PvP wasn't "real" in Diablo series, or that it wasn't "true" just shows how blind they are to the series.
Yes there are people that enjoy killing monsters, they enjoy grinding levels and gear. I have met quite a few on my many years of Diablo. However at least on US East, I found MANY MANY MANY MANY more who grinded gear and levels so they can trade so they can make PvP characters. It is basic gaming formula 101 here, when the content is so played out people find alternate ways to play. PvP is and always has been and always will be a huge part of the Diablo series whether Jay or you PvM heroes wanna accept it or not. I am also not dumb enough to try and say that PvP is end all be all way to play Diablo like most of you PvM heroes who seem threatened by PvP'ers.
I liked Diablo 2 for PvX, and so everyone that likes it for PvY is wrong.
Replace X and Y as required in your mind, and don't bother adding your own reply. Or, post something other than the same dead tired horse that is the last sentence.
I think Diablo 3 will be 90% cooperative & 10% competitive. Most of the game will be about the item hunt even if you're searching for pvp gear. Then the last part of the game will be pvp to see who's best.

I know that. The main point they still do is because they want more gear than others. Diablo 2 also has an intresting system of HOW to get stronger like in diablo 3: They rune the armor. That's the end game right there. Diablo 2 is a farm and sell game. For real money, too, but this time it's against game contract. They could care less for PvE now. It's just a boundry. A grind.
I don't really categorize Diablo as either. In both Diablo 1 and 2 I usually just did Coop till I got bored. Then I PvP in that time. In Diablo 1 Pking people was pretty fun lol.
However, both the PvP and PvE in Diablo 3 are revamped big time. Complete system changes in both categories. I can actually see Diablo 3 being highly competitive and highly Coop based. I will probably play it mostly for the Coop though. As the gap it will fill for me is a fun Coop RPG.

Vlad, Get over yourself buddy.
In other threads you jump quickly to your own defence that your not a basher of PVM players, and that all you want is your precious hostility button and in game dueling back. Yet in this post you quickly turn on your PVM players bash button and start saying how much PVP is a huge part of the diablo series and us PVM heroes are threatened by the PVP'ers. And also, there's no need to get all teary because Jay Wilson didn't lean towards PVP implementation a bit more in Diablo III. Obviously the blizzard development team decided to stick to what Diablo III is truely about and in the same process give you PVP'ers who like the option to break away from the normal game for a bit of different fun, the ARENA.
Furthermore, "people who say PVP wasn't real in the diablo series, truely shows how blind they to the series" That's a laugh, I can't even comment on that one mate. But if you knew anything about what the Diablo series really is, then you would know.
It's about.
-Lore and epic story.
-Cooperative based gameplay on and offline (to meet the end of that story with other people or by yourself)
-The rich, satisfying, enjoyable.. Item hunt.
-Pick up the game for 30 mins and enjoy every minute (Accomplish something no matter how small it may be)
So please before you go expressing to much "I know everything" think about what your saying.
Personally, I never did PVP in Diablo II. I mostly played on my own, usually the single player version of the game, so I didn't even log into Bnet most the time. What I found fun was leveling up and farming to find better/interesting gear.
It's not right to say that end game in Diablo II was PVP, OR PVE. End game was whatever each individual person made of it. WoW is the same in a sense; Some people at max level do raids, and some people invest their time in PVP. It's whatever they want to do, which is what makes these games more enjoyable. You can choose what you want to do, and aren't forced to do just one thing.
