More and more I feel last class will focus on all types of projectiles - Throwing weapons and all forms of bows/cross bows and whatever else they add as a projectile.
I'm glad they are opening up the types of weapons each class can use. I would totally rock the wizard with a double hander. I used to have a necro with a fatty maul, loved it.
Still it seems outlandish to see the barbarian with a bow and arrow. I'm still hoping for a return of my favorite character class, the ranged character with the bow. I think it will be awesome for a ranged character to be able to switch from ranged to two - one handed swords and legitimately use them augmenting them with skills that make you want to use them. Not because that's what everyone wants to do but to have that option and find it fun to use them while being useful at the same time.
Isn't the D2 way simpler? Items having different attack speeds for each class.
And then you have some class specific items. Lastly, stats that you choose how to distribute.
Don't you have all the customization and flexibility you'll ever need right there?
They have created the chars according to a specific idea and want them to be 'standard' in certain aspects. Need to wait for these other parts of the game that will allow greater customization as they have often hinted.
Maybe it will be better. Maybe it won't.
Does anybody else find the mental picture of a barbarian throwing down with a massive demon with a little wand in his hand really funny? I'd like to see that just for the laughs.
Also, technically, it does make sense for a Barbarian to use a bow and arrow. Why? Because as a 'survival in the harsh wilderness' culture, you're going to need to hunt your food down. A fair amount of the time that'd mean shooting it. It's not as far fetched as you'd think. Also, things like Longbows - firing an arrow from one of those takes a LOT of strength. The people doing it on the battle field would probably be built like brick shit houses.
just think about the mongolians of the Ghengis Khan era. They were notorious for their mounted archers.
I see where they are going with this, and for some I think people would enjoy the variability in the characters. But for me, the weapons will always "fit" the character that I am playing, because most of the time that is reason for playing the particluar character. Example, I will play a Barbarian in order to use 2h swords, axes, mauls, etc...but if I want to use a wand/staff it would be a necro or sorc...I dunno if that makes sense, but thats how I feel. Though it wouldnt stop me from playing around some

~ Some people are still alive only because it is illegal to kill them ~

I agree mostly; however, the conjuration wizard DOES need to be able to break the common mold. This is the true battle mage !!!

Wouldn't really be feasible considering they removed weapon switch so in order to pull that sword out of your ass when the enemy got close you would have to open inventory and put the item on, also if your inventory was full then your screwed. I don't know Blizzard is shooting themselves in the foot here because they arn't giving full details about anything and just a quarter of information about everything which makes it sound like all their systems contradict each other and make the devs look retarded.
This does bring up a the ranged character we all assume the last class to be. With specific weapons and no weapon swap, how will the last class work. Will it be similar to amazons where you had to choose between a bow or a spear. I was hoping to have a little more flexibility with a ranged class this time. Although, I suppose if given the right spells, maybe a bow would be enough and they could have some close range spells for when monsters got close.

I doubt !! I think stats will be the way to make this weapon more useful for this class than others. + level requirment indeed.
Like that everyone are able to use any items but only stat will decide.
Example : wiz will be albe to use a 2h sword at level 10 when barb able to use the same weapon at level 1.
Most likely the case, I still think it is just laziness on the devs end that they put in auto stats in the first place. This way they don't have to code or do animation for every weapon type for every character. Plus they also really have nothing good to say about auto stats.

We know nothing about auto stats, so we can't say they have nothing good.
do animation for every weapon type for every character.
It's confirmed, every characters will be able to use every weapon. Stats will tell WHEN you will be able to use it.

I think they should open the characters choices of weapon, but giving every single weapon a good reason to be used.
I can just see the ammunition being spit paper balls.
Do you really want to see the old hag of a female witchdoctor blowing anything?
Hey don't steal my idea!
Joking aside, if they allow wizards to wield 2h swords, then the conjuration wizard will be my first class(even on hc).
That's what has me worried about Diablo III, the auto-stats. It will really restrict what we're able to use.
But, then again, maybe they'll just use level requirements, and do away with the strength and dexterity requirements?
