The Bad, the Worse, and the Completely Stupid of the Diablo world. Diablo III blogger Project XII has written on his blog at Hellforge about the top 10 monsters you don't want to see in Diablo III in his new article entitled "Top Ten Monster Farewells".
He writes:
From the surprisingly large amount of unwanted creatures, I’ve managed to wheedle things down to a Top Ten list. Competition was tight; after all, it’s hard to pick the bad ones from the plain irrelevant… no one’s going to be interested in a three paragraph explanation about why the mosquito’s of Kruast were crap. Most of you will probably struggle to remember anything about Act 3 (it’s a big square place with a tower, right?).
So grab your shotguns and prepare to give Diablo’s Top Ten equivalents of Macaulay Culkin a proper farewell. I’m sure they can find work elsewhere… maybe in something for Runic Games?
And remember, if you don’t agree with me, you probably are Macaulay Culkin. Dude, wtf was “Party Monster”? You deserve to be unemployed.
i highly disagree with some of this stuff on top 10 comebacks he wanted spitter guys which exact same looks at leapers so wtf? and same with fetish but oh well
All good in that blog (or almost all good, some faults) until this list
Dishonourable Mention: The Monsters No One Remembers
Frog Demon: They popped out from time to time to spit goo at you. Then died.
Gloom Bats: They zapped you with lightning from their wings. Uh huh.
Death Maulers: Concept: a creature that thrust its fingers under the ground and up beneath your feet. Reality: Meh.
Scarab Demon: Beetleburst. Great for a giggle; the rest of his buddies a pain in the carapace.
Claw Vipers: So cool in Diablo 1. So average in Diablo 2.
Sand Raiders: Big four-armed beanpole creatures. Kinda cool. Make it into Diablo 3? Probably not.
Baboon Demon: Could be mistaken for Tainted if you don’t look closely. These guys do have the melee attacks. Just not the hit points to back them up.
Giant Mosquito: Apparently sucked out your stamina. Ohhh scary.
Vulture Demon: Birds that attack from the ground. Ok then.
w t f?!
Death maulers where the pwn, so was scarab's, and so was claw vipers, I mean claw vipers in hell act2 where the shit, woha did they damage alot or wut? vulture demon's also dealed some nice dmg I remember
what the hell is "baboon demon" anyways xD same goes for Sand raiders
The baboon demon was that green tainted looking thing in act 3 and the sand raider was a four armed scimitar wielding skinny guy in act 2.
I liked scarab demons and claw vipers too, also I liked the grotesque blood hawk nests :D.
Thanks for the post Sol. I rather enjoyed the humor of the blog.
I like the way he put the claw vipers in the 'dishonorable mention' slot. Not the ones from D1, but the ones from D2. The claw vipers in D1 were my favorite monsters. They were exquisite in appearance when you compared them to the rest of the monsters in the game. I really liked the way they curled up like popcorn shrimp when they died. I'd like to see them back in D3, but more like the model from D1 rather than D2. They were ugly in D2!
i got to agree w/everyone, this article is way off. this is how it should look.
#1 Oblivion Knights
-have you ever played single player hardcore with a chargedin? if so, you probably dreaded the chaos sanctuary because of these bastards.
#2 Glooms
- they just do way too much damage, and... you can't even see them when they move.
#3 stygan dolls (not sure how thats spelled.)
- again, they do too much damage, and they are way too fast.
#4 vultures.
-they are really lame, and only attack you after they land. If they come back, at least let us hit them with arrows, spells, and leap attack while they are flying, right now they are completely invulnurable when in flight.
#5 salamanders
-their ranged psn dmg is bugged to do a rediculous amount of damage.
I would have to say those little guys from act two in the jungle, i cant remember theyre names, but they used butcher knifes, they also doubled up and blew fire, and threw knifes, omg i used every class and they annoyed me every time with each new class.
I just ran through durance of hate with my assassin in Nightmare and it reminded me how messed up and stupid bone fetishes(or stygian dolls I can't remember the name) are. I literally just ran past them to avoid the sudden death affect of actually fighting them. That to me was a horrible design decision. But thankfullly they already said they won't be insta-killing players to increase difficulty so I think we will be in the clear.
Act III fetishes and the leapers too. Very annoying to defeat.
But... my serious hate of something I don't want returning is the multiple immunes of Hell. More than once when soloing I have been hassled by monsters that were unable to be beaten as they were physically immune (stone skin) as well as, say, fire and lightning immune.
Save & Exit, reload character etc in order to hope for a different random roll is not fun.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.

Anyway, I actually liked Sand Raiders. They were one of those monsters with 'zazz'.

Fuck you, I'm a dragon.

If you do, make sure they don't suck.

What's some of yours?
And what monsters would you like to see again in diablo 3
I loved fetishes though, who could hate them. They were pretty much "The Enemy" of A3.
