Blizzard is letting everyone get too excited over this patch. All they said was it would be a "content" patch and then asked the D2 community for ANY suggestions. People were asking for things like entirely new acts, new difficulty levels, etc etc... Watch it just be a couple new runeword items

couple of runewords eh? that wouldn't take more then a few hours. They been working on this for sometime already and I'm sure its going to be more then what people expect there is n o friggin way editing some minor text files will make the patch be a long wait like it is.

Okay, well I exaggerated when I said it would just be some new runewords, I'm just saying that it's not going to be as epic and mind-blowing as a lot of people are hoping for.
I'd say new quests was a no-go from the beginning. They aren't about to develop any *actual* new content for d2. Anything "new" would just be putting different monsters in the same old places (i.e. diablo clone, new tristram, etc).
The only thing the "bnet testing" gives me hope for are things like improving on old mechanics, like a new Join Game system, maybe a shared stash, new resolutions, and if we're really lucky a way to prevent botting! (huzzah!)
Other than that, expect 3 new rune-words, maybe a new few uniques... if they get really crazy we might see new set items, and new runes, and a use for the Standard of Heroes, and that's about it :-p

I'd be happy with some new sets that would be useful in hell. I thought the glowiness around ik and tal rashas was sweet and trangouls turning you into a vamp was cool too. If there are new sets they should make you stand out visually.
I think they'll balance some skills, add stash size and/or shared stash. Maybe one new quest that hints at D3 or something....I suppose we'll just have to wait and see...

I think you guys are wrong.... It is going to be a sweet patch, imagine how much content they can add with 100 mb...? the full game is like 1.5 gb....
I think we will eb seeing major changes like the skill system, immunities, breakpoints, PVP, balance between all chars, more monsters in all areas and acts, harder game play, and of course a few new items and rune words.
Seriously... Blizz will not release this patch if its not so good. Even if they only add a higher resolution, and change a few major things it will pwn...
I personally, cant wait to play d2 again and pwn u all (whoever plays on Eu).
@emile: got a BestBuy near you? They still sell the Diablo Bundle, contains D1, D2, D2: LoD, and some guides with it for... I wanna say like $30 or $40. Not sure if WalMart or Target has em.
As for patch 1.13... I'd *LOVE* for there to be new content and reworked gameplay with an increase in difficulty and ... 2 new classes!
But first... I don't wanna get my hopes up and be disappointed.
And second... I just feel that Blizz doesn't put much focus on D2... as they shouldn't. It's cool that they continue to support their older games, and provide updates and rebalancing, but even if it takes 1 month to add Act 6 to the game, from a developer's standpoint, it's wasted manpower. All that effort makes them $0.
From a developer standpoint... it just doesn't make money to update old games, unless it's released as a new expansion that people have to go out and buy. So... 1.13 won't have a ton of new content.
The only argument otherwise, which I hadn't thought of and *really* like, is new content which will lead into D3. That would please the players, and also (from a cost/benefit analysis standpoint) work as advertising for their upcoming release.
Anyway... there's my 2 cents. But I am really hoping for everything listed above by other posters. I still play D2 and can't wait to see what they have up their sleeves.
...... on the other hand, this is Blizz we're talking about, and they generally seem to put their fans above just making money (which in turn - makes them more money!)
So who knows, it's all speculation :-)

I would be really surprised to see any new characters/monsters or new acts. It just wouldn't be worht the effort. The small changes will be enough to have people running back to the game.
It's going to be a complete rebalancing of the skill sets with the possiblity of a respec. This is why they need us to test it, because it would take too long to test all of the builds and their balancing. Why else would they need us to test it??
Also, I think they are going to change the ubers' names. They are going to change Lilith to sometrhing like Uber Andy so they can use Lilith (etc.) in D3 and still have it make sense.
We're getting a little too far afield, guys. Emil will get the game in his own time; legally, I'm sure.

I hope they will make the cow level openable by all character whatever they do. (I am not sure what makes you unable to open cow level, many sources gives many answers)
I loved making cowruns to help lowbies, but when I can't open it anymore I have to make an ew char, which suck.
probaly because you killed the cow king if im not mistaken

Yeah if you kill the cow king your not going to make the secret cow level again!
How is anyone supposed to get the Cow King's set?
